Hi

I am making an altitude indicator.

The character is climbing a mountain.

As the character goes up or down the screen the altitude indicator displays height up/down the mountain.

What i need to do is have the altitude display height (int) remain and continue when going to next room.

Eg leave room at say 400 feet and have altitude display height up the mountain display 400.

I have 2 ints in rep global exec always: Altitude and Height.

Code: ags

Laltitude.Text=(String.Format("%d", Altitude - cBond.y-1));
HEIGHT=Altitude - cBond.y-1;

Which of course works except it does not keep the exact altitude display height as per leaving previous room.

all help appreciated.

cheers

Hi

how can I change this to display what ever object the mouse clicks on within one function:

Code: ags

function  object_click()
{

 c009.Phylactere(String.Format("That %s does not seem to harbor anything about the plans by Skull.",object[19].Name)); // any object not just object 19?
}

I could do them individually and just change the object number but looking for a more simpler way ;)

cheers

Fully licensed: When the world calls

A spy game for the hunt of red mercury being developed by Skull: an organisation of crime and terror.

In charge of operations is top Skull agent Mu Fanchu.

Red mercury has an explosive power that the world has never seen before and the fallout is devastating!

Can you, as 009 stop the development of Red mercury by destroying the lab bases and stopping Mu Fanchu?

"You sent for me, sir?"
"You're late 009!"
"Sorry, sir. I was on a call of an emergency nature."
"Yes, i'm sure you were!"
"You must have the lives on an alley-cat, 009."
"Well, I have been in hospital for six weeks, sir."
"It was amateur night, you could tell."
"Quite. Don't bother to sit. I have received distressing news."
"Our man, Minsky in China has been found dead."
"They fished his body out of a canal this morning."
"How dreadful, and he was such a good bridge partner."
"This is not the time for witty remarks, 009."
"What do you know about Red mercury?"
"Well, Red mercury is supposed to be a hoax substance of uncertain composition."
"Purported to be mercuric iodide, a poisonous, odorless, tasteless, water-insoluble scarlet-red powder that becomes yellow when heated above 126 °C, due to a thermochromatic change in crystalline structure. Purportedly used in the creation of nuclear bombs, sir."
"Enough of the chemistry lessons, 009."
"Agent Minsky had reported several laboratory's were producing this red mercury."
"He was meant to be sending us his full reports today."
"According to Minsky, a man by the name of Mu Fanchu is behind it."
"Apparently he works for 'Skull': an organisation of crime and terror."
"Yes, I have heard a little about 'Skull'."
"What do we know of this Mu Fanchu?"
"Nothing much, apart from that he is Chinese, has six daughters and lives in a remote region of the world of where we do not know."
"Our contact, Tin Wung in Singapore was working with Minsky right up until the time he was murdered."
"Apparently 'Skull' plans to destroy every major city with red mercury bombs."
"If these reports are correct you must destroy those laboratory's 009."
"I understand, sir."
"Go to Singapore, 009."
"Our contact Tin Wung will fill you in on the details they have."
"You will find them in the Chi Tang bar in Tiong Bahru."
"Pass-code: They say it's cold in London this time of year."
"To which they will reply: Only when you have no clothes on."
"I've just spoken to the PM and he wants this put on red alert."
"I'm on my way, sir."
"And don't dilly dally, 009 the world is counting on you."
"I'll keep the British end up, sir."

Let's Cook: with Koala

A cooking game mainly aimed at children but then again who does not like a scrumptious Knickerbocker glory or tasty coconut curry?

As well as learning to cook, Koala your chef guide explains how to avoid the dangers that may occur in the kitchen and also offers you safety tips as well as being open to any questions you may have.

Together you can make some mouth-watering dishes by finding the ingredients and following the cooking method.

Once you have made a dish, Koala will issue you with a 'Certificate of excellence' which is saved for you to print out and put on your wall or elsewhere.

A fun game where you not only just learn to cook but become aware of dangers and learn safety tips...

My thanks to AnasAbdin for the graphics he supplied and to Mandle for his eagle-eyed testing and also to little Nao for obtaining all certificates and also CaptainD for his testing.

Thank you all.....

Hi,

i have used input to capture players name.

However, the actual player is unseen and the player characters are one of two.

I do not want their name shown as it displays actual players inputted name.

so i used:

Code: ags

 if (Character.GetAtScreenXY(mouse.x, mouse.y)==cGChef) { // could be selected as player
 player.Name="";
}
 if (Character.GetAtScreenXY(mouse.x, mouse.y)==cBChef) { // could be selected as player
  player.Name="";
}
}

But of course that overrides String players.name.

is there a way round it.

thanks

Recruitment / Children's Let's Cook Game
Fri 16/10/2015 07:06:14
Hi,

*** POSITIONS FILLED

Last year i was thinking of making a children's 'Let's Cook' game.

This is the basic:

they would enter their name and then choose an item to cook, like a pizza or burger.

they would then be taken to their kitchen and shown a list of ingredients to find in the kitchen.

Koala, your cook guide helps you make the dish. Koala comments throughout the game.

As they find the correct ingredients the item gets a strikethrough.

The also get instructions on how to put the dish together.

when it is ready a large picture of what they have cooked is shown.

There will also be 'dangers to avoid' like a boiling kettle etc.

This will be a great interaction for the child who will be thrown into the delicious world of cooking.

This is quite a huge 'take on' and therefore i am looking for people to help bring it together.

Positions:
* 3D models of a kitchen in girl and boy variants.
* Objects like kettle, tins, packets etc etc

* Additional scripters
* Musician for Music/Sound
* Other...

Res 1024 x 768

All offers of help with this children's game is greatly appreciated,

Thank you

Hi

Having been a DirectDraw user since the year dot I am now able to make games with d3d.

Therefore I am a d3d newbie and need some help and advice.

What help I require is the major differences and limitations.

I know, for example in d3d you should never use:

Code: ags
player.IgnoreWalkbehinds=false;

What else should I be made aware of?

Also, if ags 3.3.2.0 is stable enough to begin making games without hassle?

Thank you
