Mon 01/12/2014 15:39:51
Hi

Has anyone here tried the new vapor cigarettes to help quit smoking?

If you have did you achieved any success and what do you think of them?

Having been a smoker for nearly 50 years I thinks its time to kiss it goodbye  (nod).

Hi,

Just a quicky.

Has Label text char been raised from 2000 or 39 lines in 3.2.1. ?

Hi

I am using Narr for some Display Text. Whilst in preview window it sounds fine but in full window it does not seem to play.

Game 600 x 800.

Any ideas as to why Narr not playing in full window?

Code: ags
game.narrator_speech = -1; // using NARR character

Code: ags
DisplayAt(30, 546,700, "&2 Are you ready to enter the Graveyard Mansion, lieutenant?");

All help appreciated.

EDIT: found I had left c prefix in... strange how Preview does not recognize this...

Sorted...

I Downloaded 2012 essentials to get MovieMaker but it seems I need Shader Model 2 to run MovieMaker.

Can anyone assist?

Hi,

I have an intro that is based on the tween module fade in / out of images.  On top of this I have Music which I have scripted STOP when all tween's have finished.

However, ags does not always comply with this and sometimes the music does not end in the right place and very often cuts off as the room changes before it finished.

The problem is guaranteeing that the music ends at the right point (sync).

All help appreciated.

Hi,

having just set up win7 and installed correct graphics drivers I now have another issue.

After compiling the game and running from setup the win7 window seems to go 8 bit, goes black and then runs the game. The game plays ok.

This is a niggling issue.

General Discussion / SOLVED: WIN7 full window
Wed 15/10/2014 11:06:23
Hi

I am having problems running games in full screen though it is ok in preview window.

I am using win7.

I am trying to run 800 x 600 16 color.

my graphics adapter states standard vga and neither dd or d3d work for full screen and are shown not available in dxdiag.

Have you come across this and did you manage to sort it?

Cheers

Hi,

I copied game files (from win XP) to my win7 computer. Installed 3.2.1 which is what i made it with.

I eventually got all the objects to show their sprites but after compiling the game will not run and just shows black window.

It was made with directdraw in mind. It is 800 x 600 16 color.

Any ideas to get the game back up and running as before?

cheers

Hi

The time has come to find a replacement for my old, yet once very loyal, Win XP computer which is slowly dying.

If I go for a Win 7 computer what should i look out for and what should I expect regarding AGS?

Hi,

quote from punaman:
Labels used to have a 200 character limit, but this has been removed in the latest 2.72 beta (so long as you use the Label.Text="" approach)

I'm using 3.2.1.  I'm not sure what the character limit is for labels.

Anyhow, I have a gui set up with three labels (one for each page of a case note book). Each label is only shown if it contains text, which can be added in any order (page arrows will display).

What I am aiming to do is have ags do a live count of characters in a label and when it reaches the maximum automatically put the text into the next label etc.

Help much appreciated.

Hiya all ;)

Re: Do you think I was right or wrong?

I had solely looked after my 3 sons until they left home when the were in their late teens (mother ran off for pastures new, though not green).

I had hoped that they would understand the basics of life. For most parts they have.

Anyhow, my eldest son is living with me again until he gets another place to live. I told him £45 per week all in.

Anyhow, yesterday (Friday) when he came home from work he told me that a late missed payment had caused his car insurance company to cancel his policy. He had already arranged to take his car to a mechanic to have certain things done ie oil leak and some other bits.

Now, this month I had to pay out bigtime and so I had to be careful with what the money that was left so my sons £45 was crucial.

He calmly told me he may give me something during the week but at the moment nothing (bearing in mind he had £1000 at his disposal). I told him that without his money we won't eat, can't cook or have any electric light.. nothing.. He then said his car was more important and I would have to wait for his keep of £45.

After an exchange of words he gave me his keep and was not a happy bunny.

We did sort out another car insurance company that evening that was quite cheap and the car is now covered.

My point is this:

Do you think I was right or wrong to confront my son about paying his keep?

Sometimes you can't do right for doing wrong.

Thanks for your opinions (nod)

Deadly Consequences!

Introducing Charles Davenport: Investigator of the truth.

Set in Victorian London 1870.

In your office one morning you are looking through the day's mail when you come across an invitation issuing you a game of challenge.

You have not had a juicy case in over two weeks and this is just what you need to fill the empty void and give you mind stimulation.

The invitation instructs you to be at Blackthorn Manor 23rd September at 8:00pm.

Blackthorn Manor has been assumed to be empty for years.

Your hired coach driver stops a mile short of the Manor and refuses to go any further, due to what he has heard about Blackthorn Manor, and advises you to steer well clear!

Upon your arrival at Blackthorn Manor you are greeted by an unseen voice. It soon becomes apparent that this is no ordinary game of challenge, but a game of deadly consequence with the life of Queen Victoria in the balance!

You must solve door puzzles to get into the rooms beyond. This requires much thinking about. Find and obtain valuable items that will help win these challenges for you must collect ten Black Ravens.

This game has Modes for Un-Timed and Timed games.

Timed Modes:
You have been set a time limit afterwhich a poisonous gas will expel: killing you within minutes!

It is a race against time. Will you succeed and win this deadly game and save Queen Victoria from certain death?

Specs:
800 x 600 resolution
16 bit colour
DirectDraw 5
Primary control: Mouse

My thanks to all those that helped make this game possible.

Hi,

I was wondering, is there a way to open an audio file in game from the compiled folder and have it play in game?

I have a project on hold where I am making a kids game based around cooking. The kid selects a recipe (like a cake or pizza) and then makes it.

I would like to enable the kid to record their name etc that will be inserted into the game as speech.

Hi,

I recently opened a game I was working on a few months ago and I noticed that the custom USER icon has defaulted to the windows icon though still runs the game.

Any ideas as to why this would happen?

cheers

Edit: Made a new USER Icon and still no go on this issue....

Version 3.2.1

Edit Edit: Changed setup to USER and USER to setup and still the same so the image must be ok and the problem lies within AGS.
