The Rumpus Room / Re: What grinds my gears!

Many people no longer have the grit, drive and the determination we had in this once great country (UK)..

It grinds my gears that the UK nation has turned some people into gutless wimps..

I hate to say this and I feel sad about it.... but where has their backbone gone and why has it turned yellow?

We were once a nation of solid rock but now it's more like soft jelly...

It grinds my gears  (laugh)

Really excited for this.    :cheesy:

When will the Kickstarter be live?

We are hoping for a late august date once the trailer has been made.

Maelstrom Obscura is an exciting adventure game delving into the misty world of conspiracies, myths and legends. Talk to theorists, debunkers, locals, witnesses, agencies and the military. Gather information and discover for yourself if some conspiracies, myths or legends are true or false, or what you believe them to be.

Investigate such cases as Yeti sightings in the Tibetan Plateau, the Roswell 1947 UFO crash, are soldiers being cloned into cyborgs for war?, the Loch Ness Monster in Scotland, an Alien base at the Antarctic and the clandestine New World Order. Let Jed Turner be your guide...

Why are oil tankers sinking? Why are gold mines collapsing? Who took the key from the speedboat? Does the strange cube that Apache Chief Running Water gave you have special powers? What is the strange coin you acquired? Can you defeat a colossal squid? Ride on the back of an Orca, discover a shipwreck, navigate a speedboat passed dangerous rocks, drive a jeep, what is project Black Seed?, talk to a long lost race, can you get passed wild bobcats?, what lays in the caverns deep in Loch Ness? Explore a deserted, spooky castle, What lays within a giant hole in the Antarctic?

Six cases to crack to draw your own conclusions, depending on how your game progresses and your choices.

Multiple endings....

   * Investigate 6 cases in any order
   * Over 120 rooms
   * Over 60 characters fully voiced
   * Internal database to search for information about each case
   * Keep a record of notes using your Tablet...these are auto added and can also be added by you
   * Drive a speedboat and a jeep
   * Hours of game play
   * 1280 x 720 32-bit

Can you conclude all six cases?

This game is being made with the Adventure Game Studio (AGS) game engine (build 3.4.1.15).

I have recruited a large team to work on this game.

Very soon we will be adding this game to Kickstarter in the hope of  crowdfunding.

Please support us in making Maelstrom Obscura a reality.

A trailer is planned to be released in the autumn of 2019.

Did you set cursor modes properly in the buttons events panel? These are built-in functions..
#869
I've did this a few years back, but did not use Sierra and I used dummy characters where player portrait is always on the left and it only showed when character was talking..
#870
Is this just in one room?

If all else fails you could use a dummy character... set it's x y in relation to the player and tweak between player & dummy... This may be an option..

Opps... mistake  (laugh)

So... Am I the only one making a game this month?

Nope: I'm busy with a game, too.

Due to heat and other things, it looks like my game won't be as complex as planned.

Nearly the same. My game will just have two rooms of which one is a street. And it'll have to make do without any inventory puzzles, or any inventory at all for that matter.

I hope I'll have enough time until Sunday. I'm only now finding the time to draw my protagonist at last. He's only been a stick figure so far.

People have made whole games with Stick figures....

A busy man said:

This is quite complicated and I've not got enough free time to implement what I would suggest.
- Engine doesn't do any sort of realtime effects
- You can't really edit audio sources in the editor because the files in use here are cached copies that may potentially be overwritten if the actual source file re-appered with a newer time stamp
- I would suggest processing the files offline to add the effects - you can just do this with ffmpeg in a loop in a batch file, you don't need any special plugins or software (other than ffmpeg and some impulse to samples to generate the reverb from)

Changing your posture (maybe use a cushion) and re-postioning keyboard (L,R,U,D) helps... As someone with arthritis I often need to do this to ease the discomfort.

It's not good to resume the same old position day in and day out..

This slowness usually happens when you fill the whole screen with an animated object/gui...

Usually I speed up players animation speed and walkspeed to compensate...

Hi,

to start with, work on baselines.. the flame baseline should be higher than the objects/walkbehinds that it should be in front of...

Code: ags

object[4].Baseline=800;  just an example flame object in Global Rep Exec....

Hi,

You may think, say a background is worth $200, but to some it may not be what they would wish to pay.

Negotiation is they key.. Having said that, if you have put in a lot of time you may think $200 is justified.

A professional outsider may have their own set rates.  Otherwise you should negotiate a figure for work done.. Set a price and work from there...

For kickstarter games its all down to if you are successful as to weather you actually  get paid or not...
