Saberteeth, erh I mean, The Sponsor guy hires AGS-makers for create game of his dream or sorta it.

And he can set any deadline up (week, month, 3 months, any deadline). By the way RuCOMM (ComCom) started in June, 1. But I have no many AGSers in Russian community, so I posted it here.


Dataflashsabot, no. But in other ComComs another Sponsor can put using PayPal in the rules.

btw, the Sponsor (in other ComComs) can wager any cash (1$, 5$, 100$, 200$, nevermind). It's money competition.

Anyway, I don't care who'll do it and who not. In August, 1 I'll check this topic up for posted games (or nothing). And these games'll take a part in the ComCom selection by me and SamosWork as Sponsors.

Thanks :) I fixed the first post.

I changed "third party Moderator" to "Responsible" (of the current competition), we can also call him R.P. (Responsible person).

By the way, in this CC#1 Sponsor and R.P. is one man (me). So the "No hoax guarantee" system is only for new ComComs (#2-...).

R.P. needs us only for "anti-cheat system", if after the deadline the Sponsor didn't want to pay anybody. But if the Sponsor choosed the Winner, R.P. has no rights to change his choice (!!!).

Yo! There's an *active* AGS competition for money.

At first it was RuCOMM (Russian Commercial), but there are so many AGSers worldwide, who wants to be a part of it?


ComCom (Commercial Competition) is a general AGS games competition with a topic for each game and a deadline (like MAGS), but with a Sponsor.

The Sponsor starts new a ComCom. He chooses the Topic, Deadline, maybe specific rules and provides a Cash Prize for the Winner.   And he's the Judge.



No hoax guarantee (for the next ComComs)

1. Before ComCom runs officially, the Sponsor must put Cash for Winner to a WebMoney* account of the Responsible person (R.P.)

2.  And after the deadline the Sponsor must choose a winner. BUT if each game break the Sponsor's rules, the money will be back to the Sponsor from R.P.

3. R.P. must transfer the money to a winner or to the Sponsor. BUT if games don't really break the Sponsor's rules, R.P. chooses a winner himself.


*WebMoney is the easiest and it used all over the world (there are problems with PayPal, MasterCards, etc in some countries)

There's my game -> GTA Deluxe v1.2a

It was for Russian hourgame competition. And it has just 2 locations:

1) stole car (by hand)
2) go from police and find Eric in the park

You can shoot police and people by ex-Talk cursor. You can go through people (and they'll die).


It's trash game, but anyway I got some trouble with it. There're over 10 animating & moving objects, and sometimes game has slowdown, i.e. sometimes game is very slow, because of these 10 anim-moving objects.

How to fix it? Maybe plugin, or smth else? I use AGS 2.61.

I disagree, any AGSer can do anything and rip any background and sprites. One problem is ripping resources from commercial games, but really it's not so "problemo", 'cause Doc won't sell this game. It's just free fan game for fun.

Hi, one my friend AGSer had a trouble when he was creating his game.

With 32-bit of colour graphics with alpha-channel look normal. But when I use same sprites in GUI or inventory, all alpha channels disappear. You can see it in your game's inventory, althings in there have extra edges.

Curiously, but I won it with imposing GUI's background under another GUI's background with special rules. i.e. turning on of GUI inventory was with showing another GUI under inventory.

But I got good result only in pre-tests. I couldn't fast repeat it.


So who knows, how in the 32-bit game, where sprites look great in the room background, these sprites look same good in the inventory?

Description: Yeah, it's game in Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw's style. Slash Vohaul, imho, is amazing ags-creator. But alas he didn't finish this game. So, in it you're some fun detective guy, who came to some house. And you met with strange murders. You understand someone of guys in the room does it, but who?



4. Deeds & Death (alpha demo-version ;)) (by TERNOX)

Description: It's photo-quest with many dialogs and in fact it's not so interactive quest, generally it's *engine* for photo-quest. It's end in room of victim of murder. You're a lawyer hired by victim's wife to find killer. So someone in victim's work company did this bad thing. You talk with them, and you must explore who was he, or she.

Description: Nice game from the great author. There's some crud plot (in students' style) and fun Russian characters. Really interesting thing, you must create present for you neighboor (some chinese soup), but in fact you haven't any money and things for it, so... let's quest!



2. An Ordinary Day (demo) (by mighty might)

Description: Again clones of one guy xD But really this game is more cooler than SQ Contest. There's almost professional voiceing, cool selfmade graphics and nice realistic atmosphere. But it's demo, and in the first room there's some bad things (no music, a bit hard solution moment). But in next rooms you see nice Russian institute ^^ (maybe quite nice))

Description: Ahem, parody trash game with action-time puzzles. Strangely, but seems the first level is the hardest level in game O_o Almost nobody can solute it. But in fact it's easy, in every level you must find tactics for solve situation (kill enemy and sorta). Btw, Johnny Cage is MK character, yes. But this game isn't so "mortal kombat" parody, although I used several guys from it. In fact it's just parody to several games, and I created it for lulz.

So, Johnny is a student of some movie colledge here. And he must pass some "mortal exams" for become real actor.




Student Dream (by adm244)

Description: Really this game looks like previous one, I mean same action elements (but in the next rooms). You're student... although not, you found yourself in ... your student's dream. Mystical and strange. So you must find a way to get out here.

In the game there's "nice bug moment" - in some monitors player can't see anything in the first room. I mean, player is dropped to dark. But really (see screenshot) you must see gray room. So if you see darkness only, maybe your monitor is old, but you can try bright up picture by software function (in Control Panel of Windows) or maybe by hardware in monitor settings (I tried and had no results; only software way worked for me).



In fact, Johnny has more scores from juries. But some of juries just has problem with monitor and can't play with adm244's game! So I solve both these games are in one level of places.

Description: It's really simple game, with simple handmade (MS Paint) graphics. It's the first not so-very-small work from author. But it's small game anyway. And it's trash game) But I liked it, it's not crazy crud, like previously RuMAGS's trash games. Maybe if Andrey should use other's graphics and create more bigger quest, it'd be very fun & cool, but alas.

For exiting room just go to door.

Random Games #1


Four people create one stuff for future game.

1-draw 3 backgrounds
2-draw 3 characters
3-create game intro
4-create game scenario



And no-one of them know what is another member of development do it. i.e. four guys create stuff for game *separately*, without discussing.

And fifth guy (leader, ags-maker) then mix their works to one game in AGS.


p.s. Also all four guys get some instructions for their works, e.g. type of drawing characters (what animal or man, etc).

SOME INFO

Backgrounds and sprites're from official SQ games and unofficial fanremakes. Main theme of game is Space Quest 4 (there's 'SQ12 timeline' in this game).

In SQ12 by Slash your hero is sequel police, enemy from official game. And you must find and destroy Roger Wilco ;) There're fun moments, nostalgia and it's nice game for fans.


In demo you must do part of Vohaul's mission. And also there're some easter eggs.


Btw, Slash Vohaul (Dr.Slash) created several new graphics from old ones (for example, SP in timepod, SP death, SP with ancient bird, etc).

You can take English tra-file from 1st post, it's my work. I'm not very good English speaker, so it's not perfect, but you can understand main thoughts and some parts of humour.


So enjoy! IMHO it's brilliance SQ 'VGA' work.

Month competition, where agsers create sequel for any games (even not quest) in any genre (not necessary create quests only).

There'snt topic of month comp., just one goal - creating sequels.


Agser can create: sequel / prequel / "between-quel" (e.g., 4.5 chapter) / alternative version of original chapter / crossover (crossing diffr. games) / spin-off (player is cameo character from original)


Any graphics: from original game / yours / not yours ;)

And every month agsers create sequels to any random games. Any length, etc. Winner'll be leader of month sequelization.


e.g., War Craft 4 as jRPG, DukeNukem 4 as quest, Simon the Sorcerer 0, etc. Any games. PC/Videogames/AGS

And of course there'll be same numbers of chapters sometimes, but nevermind.


So if it's ok, let's do it? ;D

Well, RuMAGS is MAGS in Russian language) There're not many games in this lang., and not many Russian AGSers, so main purpose of "Russian MAGS" is creating new AGSers and new Russian AGS games.

Of course then I'll translated it to English (what I can), but there're a bit differents with original MAGS:

1. Not month limit, just week or two week as maximum.
2. Russian sense of text and actions (sort of national humor)
3. And many Russian AGSers for now don't know English and don't want to know)) it. Because all of them wanna Russian games, not English.


So MAGS and RuMAGS are different things of one idea. Any of Russian AGSers then maybe'll take a part in MAGS, e.g., Crimson Wizard. But I don't think there'll be many of them.


For now there're just about 30 Russian AGS games in our archive (not only RuMAGS). So it's main reason.

1. yet only map.txt as level
2. wall tester - there're 3 ways to check walls: radiobuttons & checkboxes (corridor, half-corridor, deadend; 6 turns/passage), "map-compass" at left bottom and all 22 types of walls at right
3. in lab 3d there're 2 types of compass: just type in "ongamestart" GuiOff(2); instead (1);
4. map editor - left mouse button - create passage (silver color), right mouse - delete it (white color is wall), click button "Set Hero" and click new place for hero (red), then Save Map. Map Editor onstart opens current map.txt in its folder.
5. map.txt must be in 'Compiled' directory


Later there'll be enemies, shooting with gun, objects (tables, pictures, ...), npc-s, quest elements, changing walls, etc.

But it's only discrete "3D". Maybe I'll add here real 3D (transformation of walls and etc, like in photoshop by tool "Transformation - Distort/Skew")
