I've been speaking with JimReed and he agrees that the level is trash as well :(

Hello guys,

I'm going to cut to the chase:

I am finally done repairing my septic tank pipes and I am now trying to make sure I get the right grade for it to flow correctly into the tank. Then I can FINALLY bury this godforsaken thing and be done with it.

I've got my friend's level which is two-feet long. He used to be a carpenter, which may or may not be relevant.

Now, I'm not an idiot (so much for cutting to the chase), I know how to read a level. The little bubble tells you which end is higher so you can adjust your work to make it level.

But anyway, I am COMPLETELY CONFUSED here because, no matter which way I place the level, the bubble goes in the opposite direction! How is this possible?

This level has three sections in it. One section in the middle and one section at each end. Each of these sections have two glass tubes. One is florescent yellow and the other is not. As far as research goes, I learned that each bubble has to be in the center to be level (in this case I do not, I want the furthest end to be the high).

But in any case, please tell me what I'm missing here, because this makes absolute no sense to me at all.

Here are two pictures to better illustrate what I am talking about:

In this picture you can see that the bubble is closest to me (I am on the right) and that is not the end that I need the highest point.

In this picture I've turned the level around (NOT upside down, just simply turned it around) and the bubble is on the OTHER side!
EH??

Now, no matter which way the level is pointing, shouldn't the bubble always go towards the highest end?? Is there some sort of gravity defying phenomenon in the trench I've dug leading to the shit tank??

-PLEASE HELP BEFORE I GET SHINGLES AGAIN-

First, 640x480 is hi-res where adventure games are concerned. Second, 2.7 also works with 800x600 if you want. And third, I don't think 1024x768 has much added value here. Focus on gameplay, not pixel count.

I have to say, that each time a topic like this, comes up, Radiant really gives the best answer, so kudos for that.  ;)
Well fuck you then ;)

QuoteI don't think the game can be completed due the fact that I increased the story.
Okay, cool. Let us know when/if you decide this game can be completed and we will unlock this :)

Good Luck with feedback, Isiah!

\\--EDIT--//
Okay, I have unlocked this, but for feedback purposes only. I was going to leave it locked until the feedback was all done and you decided what you wanted to do, but I decided to leave it open. The only reason for this is that I think you'll get more feedback here than your email address.

Keep this on topic.

I agree with Radiant.

QuoteI think the old-school aesthetic holds some games back from reaching their full potential.
Since we are talking about adventure games here:
When it comes to the game at it's core, graphics (although they do help with atmosphere), don't hold a candle to story-telling IMHO.
This may not count, but take books for example. If the story is immersive enough, you visualize/experience it in such a way that films will never touch.
I guess what I'm saying is, with low-res, if the artist knows a thing or two about what he's doing, things don't need to be in hi-res or HD for the player to know what they are looking at. Excluding most of today's generation, trusting that the story-telling is done well, the player won't even care what resolution the game is in - or at least shouldn't.

I think the problem here may lie in the fact that today's gamers rely/have it hammered in their brains by media and pop-culture that to receive the best playable experience it must have the sharpest visuals and environmental details as possible.

In conclusion, Poc, I deeply feel that going to a higher-res than 640x480 (or even 800x600), is as unnecessary as turning on and off the light switch five or six times before entering and leaving the room ;)

No, this is horseshit. I'm not nice like boss. This thread is getting a temporary lock until you have another screenshot out of the 18 rooms you have completed. Here's why:

1.
QuoteThey must be actual screenshots of 2 (or more) different backgrounds.

2. You are arguing about the forum rules when you don't even know what they are (see above).

3. This is a reoccurring problem with you.

4. This thread is getting out of hand.

5. (edit) And you know what, it just irks the shit out of me that you claim that this is your last OSD game... like it's some sort of big parting with the series and shit... YOU'VE MADE NONE! And I'm talking about a completed OSD game here, by the way, not these incomplete games in production you have jizzed all over the forum.

Please do not contact me to be unlocked, contact Darth. While you are PMing him, I would suggest that you apologize for arguing over something you were wrong about. Why? Because that guy has put up with more of your shit than I have since the beginning.

Next time and every time after this, follow the damn rules, would you?

Go on.

I've been called a girl a handful of times in my life and sound like a girl on the phone, does that count? Oh but wait, there's that whole penis thing... forget it.
No I'm not a girl, but my wife is!

ProgZ, funny! You made my day! :D
There might be a lot of things that's compromise the result of the game if we went back and dissected every pic, heh.

And VWG, I loved the epilogue, btw!
#273
Actually, if you follow through with this and it is a fully completed playable game, it'll actually be your first OSD game :P

Please explain further what a DS is? And further explain how you are implementing this. Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't understand how you can implement something where the player is able to use something from "Blades of Passion" and unlock something from this game. Please explain this to me.

Sorry if I sound like an ass, but, what the hell happened to Pub Master Quest: Legends? I was thinking you were actually going to finish that one. Shall I lock the topic?

Very Very Guy????

I laughed when I saw my name at the ass-end of the credits. My life story.

This was indeed the best game ever! More please, Very Very Guy!

Marty, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you're stuck here!

In all seriousness, I don't see the option either ???

PS
Btw, ShadowRifter, the whole conspiracy theory thing is only kidding around ;)

QuoteUsing one hand in the sense you mentioned feels kind of awkward for me anyway, because then I feel like I should be using my other hand for something..
I can think of something, but that would require a rewrite.

LOL! Zombie slaves... being mistaken for plumbers... yeah, sounds very good!

I will download and play as soon as I get a second...hahaha this sounds really good ;D

And I LOVE the art. It's about time there's another game like this (I call it "Old School AGS Games")!

Point behind him and scream horrifyingly, "LOOK OUT!?!". When he turns around to see what's the matter, kick him in the balls and uppercut him when he bends over. Then swiftly take the gun, your radio (that you almost got eaten for, btw (fuck that asshole, WE'RE keeping it!)) and while he's still coughing up his nuts, TAKE HIS PANTS!! (or at least his coat and wear that as some make-shift pair of pants, heh)
