Hit minor road-block - abandon project!

This is the basic essence of indie game development  :=

Tell me about it.

General Discussion / Re: jump plug-in?
Tue 14/09/2010 22:09:31
Icey, take a look and browse through our Modules, Plug-ins and Technical FAQ forum. There are some things in there that will help you. But do not post in there (I actually am unsure whether or not you are able to anyway).

In short, yes, there are a couple modules that handle platform movement, but you will have to find them.

\--EDIT--//
To add to what Kris said, let's say the character must jump over a small gap. You could simply have a hotspot that the player clicks on (the other side of the gap in this case) and animate the character jumping over. Just an idea.

\--EDIT2--//
To add a level of difficulty, you could even do something like the Dragon's Lair games and make the player have to click the right spot at the right moment, or else they fall in.

Icons for me!

AYE!

Castle of Fire is in my sig.

Also, if you wish, you can add The Original Leitor's Edge to the list as well.

If you would like to add the canceled Matt to the Future Demo, you are more than welcome (also in sig).

I hope the time isn't up already...

\\--EDIT--//
At one point, Calin, will be able to edit our own game's descriptions and such?
(sorry if I missed this already being stated)

BAH!

You cause people with OCD to have breakdowns!

*Snake has a breakdown*

(and then breakdances, which is something Snake does not do)

I say NAY to resorting to JoyToKey with AGS.
It is indeed a great program, which I've used numerous times, but with a non-adventure AGS game, in-game joystick/gamepad support is a must (depending on the game, of course).
I would not want to make a game intended to be played with a gamepad or joystick and tell the player, search for a program called JoyToKey and follow the instructions, etc, to play with a gamepad/joystick.
It's absurd to suggest this when there is an in-game default available.

\\--EDIT--//
If this reply seems a little awkward, it's because I didn't realize there was a second page...

Why don't you alphabetize, Leon?
;)

I know I'll be burned at the stake for this, but, Wyz, have you made a tutorial/example project yet? I really want to use this but, being the simpleton that I am, it confuses me. Even someone making a video tutorial would help.

Also, I noticed this hasn't been moved to the modules/plugins section yet... :-*

I had a lecturer who said "gooey" and it bugged the hell out of me.
I can't stand it either. I always say it and read it as, "GUI".

QuoteWhat kinda stuff do you think an online RPG game should have?
QuoteMe & Icey games was thinking about what we should have in our game that will make it look more like an online RPG(with out the rpg part)
Wait a minute. Do I understand you correctly? You are making an on-line RPG game, but without the RPG part of it?
What?

The current title sounds fitting to me!

This game has got me waiting!

Very nice sounding/looking game, Overlord.

I once tossed a quarter into the wishing well at a chinese resturaunt once asking for a hoverboard in my room when I got home. Keep your quarters, it's a SCAM.

Inspired by our very own Dualnames, I've finally came around and started my very own blog. It is, of course, focused on The Legend of Leitor's Edge:

And please resize them to at least half their size. The current size is ridiculous.

"It's just a very, intense, dream..."

I am a huge Back to the Future fan. My first wish is that it doesn't get canceled. My second wish is that it isn't ass. But it'll certainly be a game that we get when it comes out!

"It works!"
"Bet your ass, it works."

LOL Snake. :D

"TROICA is like porn. Who cares about the plot?!"

Hey! Plot is essential to good porn!
If I don't 'buy' the characters, then I won't buy, period.

I like it when they just get to the point and fuck play adventure games.

Okay, so I searched real quick and found Image Rotator 1.0. It's free and the closest thing to what I'm talking about. Please download and try it out for a second ;)

\\--EDIT--//
...for some reason I can't figure out how to save. I save to .gif to the desktop, but nothing shows up :(
#558
Thanks for the input, guys. I'll be trying out RotSprite. I've got it downloaded and ready to go when I need it, which will be pretty soon.

\\--EDIT--//
Come to find out, RotSprite is not what I'm looking for. I want to rotate the image or part of an image myself in "real-time" by clicking on the corner of the selection and moving my mouse.
I'm not very good at explaining myself, I know.

General Discussion / Sit on it and rotate...
Tue 24/08/2010 22:42:11
I'm wondering if there are any programs out there that I can make a selection (or select the entire image) and rotate it smoothly?

What I mean is, say I make a selection of a character's head and I want to tilt it up slightly. After making the selection, I can "grab" one of the corners and move it around in a circle, resulting in getting the exact (or near exact) degree I visually need.

The only example, and only thing I've ever experienced to do this, is the default program that came with my old Hewlett Packard all-in-one scanner. After scanning the image you could grab one edge of the image and rotate it at will.

Is there any free program out there that can do this? I hate having to manually type in degrees. I want to move the selection/image myself.

For the record, I have not searched for any such program yet. I chose to go directly here because if any one knows a program that can do this, and which one is the best and or most simple, it would be the AGS community.

AWESOME!
I will be trying this as soon as possible. Something like this has been on my wish list for years!
