I'd like to hear people's thoughts on how you get the player (as well as the player character) to really care about an NPC, maybe even fall in love with them.

I, and I suspect, most people, do not want to fall in love with a character.

You can make fair use of other's material without gaining explicit permission. This means a small amount for criticism etc. or parody, in which case you can use a fair bit.

I would say, just do it anyway. It's not like anyone seems to care. If they do, release it under a nom de plume.

You need a credit card to start an account.  It happens everywhere. they need it for collateral, really.  Those videos cost like 200 dollars each to them.

It's the first time I've been asked for one. I've had accounts at 6 or 7 different places as well. It's just about the most discriminatory thing I've been subjected to, which is good in it's own way. It's still a pain in the arse though. It's as if I'm not to be trusted. But I can't really argue with that, since I wouldn't trust myself.

Girls and computer games don't seem to mix. I would avoid even mentioning it, unless you already have, in which case I agree with the others... Kill her...

I went to hire a dvd this evening. I got to the shop and choose something I thought would go with the six pack I had already bought. I.e. trashy crap that's funny when you're a bit tipsy. I took it to the counter and tell the guy I need to get a card since this was my first time at this particular shop. Then the guy, who was slightly deformed, tells me I need a credit card. To hire a dvd. I thought this was ridiculous. I don't have a credit card. I told him this. He still wouldn't give me a card. I think I should write to the owner of the store. The End.

I tried to code a test adventure based on a book my older brother had when I was about 10. I couldn't port the base code from zx81 to quickbasic though. It made me sad.

Yes and No. It makes a big difference if you're using long cables. If the cables are under a couple of metres though, it's not much of a problem. You can buy balanced cables that eliminate this though. The main culprits are bad stereos and speakers though.

Do you think I care? I don't devise posts intended to make people like me. It also wasn't a joke per se, most people I know actually do take their friends out drinking when they break up.
