Thanks ben :) that will come in handy!
I love what you did to the moon surface though you didn't mention it :)

Mmmm...I love honest constructive critique :) I'll try to repair most of the stuff you mentioned.
Are you sure about the tree and barn sizes? I tried to draw them using road width at their level to compare their sizes... I thought it looked allright :)

As for the hole - yes I realized it has wrong shape and should probably left some trail in the ground earlier :P But that was after I posted the image here XD

Anyways thanks once more Khris!

Heey. To be honest I really like this :) It's simple buy eye catching as well. If you want to make it look even better make the fish jump up from left to right as well and do pauses before each jump :)

Hey,
I made this background for the MAGS contest but I probably wont have enough time to finish the game on time (school projects and exams) that's why I decided to just post it in here. It's a mysterious meteor which fell on earth.

It's not finished though - I wanted to ask if any of you guys have any suggestions on how to shade the ground?

I know it's quite empty on the left side :) I intend to put a water pump or a water well there. Also I'll shade the moon later.

I'm mostly asking about the ground shading but if something is wrong or could be much better let me know as well :)

To be honest I don't like just the RGB triangle. It's fully saturated and the rest of the site is kept in low saturation. It kind of stands out too much

Somebody will say it sooner or later, so here goes: this isn't Pixel art. :D

Um no? This IS pixel art. No one ever said anything about this being actual game character sprite. Visit pixel joint page for examples of pixel art ;) not all of it can be used in games but people still do it :) It's just another style of art.

Besides he can use it for cut-scenes, title screen or even dialogue graphics (for example one character on the left side of the screen and another on the right)

And who said no one can do high resolution pixel art game? I say it would be very interesting indeed :D

The first version was better. His shape and pose were more interesting. He does look more feminine now. Too slender. Don't be afraid of massive shapes. Proportions were great earlier. Now he's too narrow and looks weak. Also his hands and feet are way too small. He's a male - his hands and feet should be almost the same size as his head! If you don't believe me put your hand against your face :) Covers almost all of it I bet. Then look at your feet. Bigger than hands (in most cases :P).

If you don't want him to look so masculine as in the first version just narrow the shoulders but just a little bit :), no need to make the whole body thin.

Also narrowing the pants as they go down isn't a good idea either. You lost the knees completely :) I liked how they were slightly apparent in version 1.0 (just bit too low though) :)

Sorry for being harsh :) Version 1.0 looks more like refined 2.0 to be honest :) not the other way around

I wouldnt go animating a pond. It's a still water. A static reflection and maybe a water lily and you're all set :)
the word you forgot is opacity :P make the pond greenish and make the flipped reflection semi transparent :)

He should have bigger, more masculine hands. I know one of them is hidden in the pocket but that doesn't save the other one :)

Also the knee on the left side of the picture seems to be a bit too low

just a quick perspective correction. Not close to perfection but you should see what is wrong :) also try to draw clumps of grass (Mine are just messed up :P Didn't try too much, just wanted to show you how perspective affects their size :))

Tell us anything about the character. Who is he? What is his job? Info like that always helps to give this little bit of something special to the sprite :)
#73
Do you have .Net framework installed? :)
#74
Red Dwarf? :)

Also one of the vent holes is probably covered with some kind of spoonge. Try taking it off - helped a lot in my case. No overheating problems now :)
#76
overheating for sure. Acer laptops tend to have problems with the fans and overheat. Disassemble and clean the fan (or just blow really hard). I have acer myself, had the same problem :)

One pirated copy doesn't equal a lot sale. 100% pirated copies equals no sales. And nothing for you to pirate any more.
Yea.. Torrents made game developers/publishers loose 80% of profit worldwide...

Why does an image even need to tell people what kind of software was used to create it? And what about images that you have worked on in multiple different apps?

You have a point but this means you can't really track down people using illegal graphic programs. Not at all 0.o this makes commercial license kind of useless in my head.

Spacepaw, I think your talking about the exif information stored in images.
The printscreen-paste option will do the trick but there are also exif-editors around.

But this is insane 0.o this means that everyone can use illegal software and make others belive he/she made it using free alternatives

Surely a photo of anything that exists previously still brings up copyright issues...

Well yes but I'm talking about your OWN work. You create something using illegal software (cracked paintshop/photoshop), then printscreen-paste it to open-source software which lets you use the outcome of your work commercially (like GIMP). I know it's still illegal but this seems untrackable 0.0
