Thats right, I've been entrusted with Sylphers "A" ags news site while he takes a break, and I'm at the point where I think we may need some more writers to keep the content coming in.....

So, let me know if you are interested in writing a few articles, reviews, or interviews a month and like to make out with your boss....er...

Pirate Fry 2: The Hand of Anturus
Whats that? Hell froze over? Yes, it did....I finally decided to release this game. I remember how I responded a couple years ago when a few people said they liked Pirate fry one, I even remember saying it would be done in like a month. Ho ho ho! The hilarity. Becuase I jumped right into it, I had to re-do and scrap and then redo again until it took quite a bit to make it look like something worthwhile. During the process I had Pessi signed on to be my background artist (A great honor) but then decided to try my own hand as I learned from Pessi. Many other folks beta-tested and added considerably. You are all thanked and loved and I will send you a christmas card with me and Mr. T, I promise
The story, art, puzzles have all been redone.

Stan and Sancho and Pirate Provencher's Gold







You play Stan, a Pirate android that travels the galaxy searching for treasure and for his creator. During his Travels, Stan happens upon a small slaving planet and rescues Sancho, a man forced into work in the mines. Sancho convinces Stan to free him by telling him about the greatest treasure in the galaxy, Pirate Provencher's Treasure. And it just so happens that Sancho has the map...

Things get complicated and Stan and Sancho find out that they may have to do a lot more than treasure hunting...

Setting: A strange futuristic world where pirates and robots travel thru space.
Pirate Fry 3 styled gameplay
320x200 resolution
Uses Proskrito's Lec template (with modifed Graphics)

Captain Mostly as the Space-Pod Computer

Designer Notes:

Currently I've placed about 12 rooms, which are about completed. I'm also nearly done with my design document for the first half, and the first half is so long that I may just split the game in two. Walkcylces half way done, and things are rocking along. I've got some cool effects like animated creatures in the background and a musical track that I've programmed to cycle thru Trap's music and ambient sounds such as wind blowing ect....

So, that's where I'm at today....

I haven't progressed as fast as I would like (no suprise there right?) but Darth has hooked me up with some excellent guis and some cool ideas on how to use them. Darth is so cool, we should all make little Darth dolls and dip them in chocolate...or better yet, I can use his name in my game. Speaking of which, I had originally planned on having a character named Darth play a bit part, but now, with further refinements of the story (more violence, boobs and more boobs) I have decided to make Darth a main character to the plot. Woo! So basically I've scripted about one room since posting this and worked like heel on the story+puzzles (first part done) and tried my damndest to make Darths fancy smancy-gui's work.....Wish me luck tomorrow...Please....

Whelp I decided to go with Petteri for the music instead of usingg Trap's Midi pack again...I still love Traps music though. Petteri's music rocks and fits quite well so far and I think it will help me out immensly...Beside that I've done some toolling with my intro and some graphical stuff. Things are progressing well...

More news 04/01/2004

I'm at 17 rooms, and I've added a fews characters and built up the foundation for the game to run on. I think I'm in the home stretch for getting a good bit of mometum (I had been a little displeased with the begining...Oh, and Petteri has hooked me up with four cool-ass songs so far! Hell yeah!
Petteri should have his own super hero comic....

News-October 5th 2005

I have recently started fooling with Ags again. I have another game in the works, that I love totally, but I felt I should start this up again. Wrap it up, time to move on. I wasn't working on it because I had lost the design document and all the files associated with the game. Dug around in my pile of cd's though and all is good.

I'll prolly pull a Fry 2 with this, meaning I will cut it a little shorter and leave it open for a sequel. Wish me luck, I got 2 damn pages of bugs to fix, yay!

One thing I've never understood is animating objects. According to the description of this function, you need to pick a view like animate character....but, objects don't have views...or do they?

Yep, I made ANOTHER DemonSlayer game. It should be fun though...

This game features:
About 4 rooms and approximately 2 minutes playtime...
No beta-testing
Don Knotts as the badly portrayed Evil uy who was just named Don Knotts so I could meet the requirments of the Comp....

I figured I should show off the cool-fancy-ass template that Darth Mandarb whipped up for me. Now he had his example all cool looking, but I added my own content to his template, so if something looks screwy it's probably my fault.

Let me know what you think. I do plan on adding some more pics to the games page, and the links page is not currently up...

Yeah, weird question, I know.

Heres what I have going. I've got it set up so that when you click on something EGO fires at it. I currently have it set up so that I changecharacterview to another view and then change it back to the walk view when I'm done. I could use some form of animate character but then I would have to program it myself to turn and face all eight directions. The walk animation does this for you...but it dosen't animate unless your moving. I guess what I wanna know is: How can I make the primary view animate without movement?

Does this make any sense?

I've just been wondering about this, seems like a game announcement can't stay afloat for more than a day or so with all the new games being supposidly produced...

I guess it really dosen't matter if a guy never makes a game or not, but I do think it's a little bit lame if you look at the stats for the pages:

I don't knowwhy, but for some elusive reason I think this is sad...

Heres the part where I'm a complete bastard:
I personally expect something when I click on a thread and see all the cool art, story ideas etc...I want a demo damnit...heh. I don't want to look at one screenshot and then the author updating saying how he hasn't made any progress for three months (of which I am guilty) Thats a waste of my time....

And it seems like we get a lot of "Kodo Jast" type threads, and I think that sort of issue would be easily resolved with the demo rule...

Okay, I'm done. Bastard Squinky out...

Advanced Technical Forum / Problem with Script

Okay, so I've got a character that moves around to different areas when you interact with him, and I keep tabs on him with globalint 2 and time it with timer 2...

it works the first time the roomes rep ex is run (when Gint ==1) but then when it comes time for the char to pop up again (when Gint ==3) it dosen't work. Now, I've tested the valuse of the int to make sure thats right and it is, but when I test the timer I get funny results. It seems like the timer never runs out the second time...anybody see what I'm doing wrong?

Okay, so I'd like to have an area where it plays an soundeffect like wind or something for a while and then everynow and then would play my midi track, and then go through the cycle again....

I think 5 days a stranger had this, where it would play creepy stuff and then go into the music...

Anybody know how to do that?

Heres my first try, it just makes weird noises instead of playing either...I tried adding a (IsSoundPlaying()==0) to the is music playing part, but it still did the same thing...

It sounds like it's trying to start the sound over and over...

I posted these two wondering which one you guys think I should improve upon, and I was also hoping you could give me some pointers cause I'm just not happy with what I've got...

I don't even know if this kind of deal is frowned upon, but I'm working on a game similar in style to my game fry 3 and I wanted it to better, you know, than it was. So I was wondering if I could get some serious advice on what people disliked and liked and how I can improve my style for the next game. The games been on the announcment forum, but that place isn't really a place where people critique your work, y'know.

Anyway, if you haven't played the game, and you want to give me advice, it's in my sig there as pirate fry 3 or something...

Okay, I have these crappy probs with my internet.
I get redirected to a different start page than I set in my propertys...It goes to this page called "search.com" and no matter how many times i reset my homepage, it still goes there....

And sometimes when I type in a url, it changes to some other site. for example:
http://msn.com becomes http://ehttp/msn.com and it goes to some godamn search page....

I've ran virus checks and ad removal proggys and it helps but this search.com site just won't go away. Kinda like friggin orbit explorer

Okay, I'm trying to make a little rawdrawn bar that goes from one point to the other based upon globalint (5). But All I get is a line drawn across the are I want, when it resets, it just stays that same old line....

So I guess my question is:
How do I "erase" a rawdrawn line once it is drawn?
