Sure did! Radiates evil power, too, it does.

Really loved this! Very mature talk, with some sneaky points.

Sharp observation. Seeing as it's not a MMORPG I'm not having two classifications, just a species.
So let me rephrase: Which race are you?
Quote from: Dualnames on Tue 27/04/2010 13:53:03Does this music file play anywhere when you compile and run the game?Quote
Unable to find aMusic25 which was set as this room's start music
I'm getting this error.(warning in fact). But it doesn't allow the game to compile, nor does it tell me where the error is, nor there is PlayMusic(25); in any room. I think you've removed the PlayMusic room property thing on the interaction thingy. And perhaps it's set there, and doesn't allow game to compile, and I can't access it to fix it.
EDIT3: However adding a music file named 'aMusic25' fixes everything and the game compiles okay.
Quote from: clarvalon on Tue 27/04/2010 05:32:33Can you tell us which game?
The plan has always been to release the tools, though there haven't been any public releases for a while. There are several reasons for this. The editor code hasn't been refactored for about six months, and there's a lot of tidying up to do. Several redesigns and improvements have broken compatibility with previous versions - I don't want anyone to put a lot of effort into something that soon becomes obsolete.
It's getting there, though. I'm currently working on converting a much larger & complex AGS game that should, once done, substantially improve compatibility across the board.
Quote from: Alan v.Drake on Tue 27/04/2010 12:18:40Got myself a reproducible error message. The game crashes with a fatal exception every time at this point.
With the latest version of ags, trying to run a .Play() command (I haven't tried the old way) with "No digital sounds" as audio device, causes an Illegal exception.
Quote from: Illegal ExceptionAn exception 0xC0000005 occurred in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x0043ACAA ; program pointer is +6, ACI version 3.20.1106, gtags (0,40)
AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and post the details on the AGS Technical Forum.

An error file CrashInfo.dmp has been created. You may be asked to upload this file when reporting this problem on the AGS Forums. (code 0)

Quote from: discordance on Sun 25/04/2010 22:17:29Didn't get that impression from the help file, but I'll give that a shot too, thanks! Oh yeah, it's GetAtScreenXY.
You could also useCode: ags if (Hotspot.GetAtXY(player.x,player.y) == hHotspot1)
or whatever the name of the hotspot in question is.
Quote from: Dualnames on Sat 24/04/2010 23:24:44Never even crossed my mind. Thanks! The only thing that comes to mind as would be nice is if there was a "hovering over the region" feature ala hotspots.
I was available in 2.72, but I think it's now kind of obsolete. How about using a region instead?
Quote from: Peder Johnsen on Thu 22/04/2010 14:09:21Sounds quite an interesting idea!
Would this be interesting for agsarchives.com?
Adding possibillity to upload the source code for your game?

The website link does indeed point to some sort of porn aggregation site. There's not much explicit content on the actual site but it looks like the domain name no longer belongs to Phil at any rate.
Um, there's a lot of explicit content.

Hey Xenogia,
Well for now the vids dont have audio, Im testing more than anything (place-holder intro/logo animation).
Im going to go with windows media video for now and let the .ogv aside...seems I cant figure why some computers can play the video from the game while others cant...at least the wmv can be played by almost all computers Ive tested them on.
Quote from: Pumaman on Tue 20/04/2010 22:52:10What? Trilby's Notes or the Special Edition? Thought the SE was released in 09?
Sorry, this game was made with a very old version of AGS and it's no longer possible to offer fixes for this.
Quote from: Pumaman on Tue 20/04/2010 22:51:28Is there anything stopping you fixing the GUI quirks? And proper alpha channel support with sprites would be nice (instead of asking you about it, it'd just go "oh hey, image with alpha channel, use transparency info off that").Quote from: Ryan Timothy on Thu 08/04/2010 04:32:52
Alpha channels damnit ALPHA CHANNELS!
What is it exactly about alpha channel support that you need? For the most part alpha channels should work fine, the main exception being some limitations on DrawingSurfaces and some quirks in the way GUIs with alpha channel controls work?
Quote from: Darth Mandarb on Sat 17/04/2010 16:10:21Doesn't the forum software support topic splitting?
Okay, yeah ... please take the critics/paint-overs/etc into the Critics Lounge. This has gotten a bit out of hand in here.
Quote from: EnoRed on Fri 16/04/2010 16:59:30Colin was pretty badly treated by BBC management at the time. The audio stories he's done past few years though have been very good indeed.
I'm admittedly not all that up on Doctor Who since I don't watch it all that much, but as far as I know Colin Baker isn't exactly a fan-favourite... Still, as they say, every character is SOMEONE'S favourite.
Quote from: Cirius on Thu 15/04/2010 08:27:41That really sounds quite an interesting idea...
I'm torn between Tom Baker or Sylvester McCoy, but Tennant did have a certain appeal for me after stepping out of the Tardis dressed pretty much the same way I've looked for about the last ten years.
Speaking of autographs. My wedding gift from my brother was an extremely large portrait of a dalek, signed by David Tennant, John Barrowman, Billy Piper, Catherine Tate, Camille Coduri, Eve Miles, Bernard Cribbins, Freema Agyeman, Elisabeth Sladen, Julian Bleach and Noel Clarke, pretty much the complete cast of Journey's End.
Now there's a guy who knows what his brother likes. And the wife was equally happy, before anyone asks.
Here's a bizarre, completely unworkable idea. Everyone interested calls a Doctor, puts together a v. short game and we release a complete collection? Crazy I know.
Even crazier, person one makes a short game, at the end of which the tardis dematerialises. He then zips up the unfinished game and passes it on, code, graphics and all to person two, who carries on with the tardis rematerialising. So person one has absolutely no idea where his Tardis will go once he ends the episode. Ending up with a mad, completely random jaunt through space and time with no coherent plot whatsoever.
Quote from: Cirius on Tue 13/04/2010 07:56:49Well, I'd imagine the Doctor will be playable in the new adventure games they're making, so they'd have to address that issue too.
As promised, the demo for Peace And Goodwill has been resurrected here:
Peace And Goodwill
Also, assuming Duckbutcher won't object, I've also uploaded the excellent Doctor Who: Time Snare as the website seems to have disappeared into the etherwebs.
Time Snare
To expand this conversation somewhat, people always say how spectacular a doctor who adventure game would be, but the idea does raise a few important questions I'm curious as to how you'd all address.
Given that the doctor is, in his own words, a genius, it seems a little odd to have the character bumbling around a setting with little idea what's going on. There generally seems to be a sense of purpose to all his actions, whether he draws attention to them or not. How do you counter this in a gaming setting? Do you make the doctor a non-player character, and if you do that, do you not run the risk of turning off potential audiences who expect to play as the doctor?
Duckbutcher chose to make the doctor the playable character, but I can't help feel that it acted somewhat to the detriment of the companion character, who seemed to fall into the background on occasion.
On the other hand, I have discovered there is absolutely nothing more fun than writing for a doctor who villain.
Swings and roundabouts I suppose. Ho hum.
