This looks really exciting!!! The plot is really intriguing and the graphics are superb!!!

In fact, I wonder if you need help at all....

It's actually mid-day outside. Check previous pictures.

Aye, but in the last picture the glimpse of outside you can see from the tent looks dark. Maybe all this deliberating about whether to pick the lamp up means a lot of time has passed  :-D

Anyway

>Rub lamp  8-)

Come on people, just over $200 left to go!  8-0

Hurry up I need to sort my train tickets out before the prices increase  :)

And I need to know the event is going ahead before I sort my tickets out   :P

It looks dark outside so

or alternatively, "verify integrity of game cache".

Is there a agsteam.dll in the game directory? If that file isn't present that is the problem. Both mine and Vince's methods should work to fetch that file for you.

If not, a bit of a shot in the dark but try running as administrator, and also check your antivirus isn't deleting files it shouldn't (I've found mine doesn't like winsetup.exe)

No, but I'm told that it makes quite a lot of something else...

....Long sleepless nights... but you should be used to that by now right?

Congrats Dave & Janet!

May you have many adventures deciding who is going to change the nappy  :=

PS: Rosa and Joey should be on the suggested names list  ;)

So you want an strategy style camera, where the map/background scrolls along when it reaches the end of the screen?
#129
Alternatively if it is video causing the problem, try finding the video files in the game directory and rename them to .bak, open the game and you should get an error but the game should continue.

If this doesnt resolve the problems its not a codec issue

The chips normally have a serial number on them. Google it and hope to find a source for the parts.

Those components however are surface mounted, so you would either have to have a machine or an insane amount of soldering skills to replace that chip. That's even if it is that chip that is dead for certain.

Also I was under the impression you could swap the circuit boards on hdd's as long as they are like for like the same model.

If it's all that important to you, I'd just bite the bullet and get a pro to fix it for you. If it's a genuine backup drive and you are backing up properly it should be redundant anyway as long as the original drive is still functional.

Invest in a surge protector too. It's possible that's what killed your last drive too, and it will randomly kill other components in your pc. Seems to be loads of dirty power in the south

I am available in London 28th December - 4th Jan. I had a right headache trying to get those off in work. It's normally the same time round for me every year, I'm around the new year but not before or after. I normally spend new years in London and go home a few days after.

So it's unlikely I will be coming again this year, but I hope you all have fun  ;-D

Are you playing a game of bingo, or just plainly annoying Pex for no reason

No hints solution

Spoiler
ask Nab (the beard creature) to play bingo so that you have a card. go change the jukebox. Watch Pex flip out. Whilst talking to Dave click on the jukebox which should get Dave to help you distract him enough to switch the bingo cards

Did you pull an all nighter on this?  :-D

General Discussion / Re: Webhosts...
Fri 17/08/2012 19:30:44
I use dreamhost.

I managed to get a discount at one point where I paid for 1 month and got it free for the rest of the year.

I've just stuck with them since, because they are the first hosts I've never had a problem with

I tried out windows 8 briefly when the consumer preview came out and concur with mods mate. Its a tablet operating system not suitable for PC. It would be fine if the general population had touchscreen monitors, but even then, who wants finger marks all over their PC screen?

How about somewhere a little less country bumpkin and a little more accessible by transport?

If you can find a venue near a major transport hub, cheap, it makes it more attractive to customers, especially if it's commutable without relying on spending a fortune on accommodation.

Try and mingle with some other communities on the net - wintermute and the other rubbish ;)  A big problem is that whilst we have a big community, we ironically only have a small footprint in the UK (that's the impression I get anyway) and it's unlikely the foreign folk are going to come over for a 2 day event. If the focus comes off AGS a little there might be a bit more interest elsewhere. As for speakers:

Dan Marshall seems to be in the middle of something that might be adventury but doesn't sound AGSy.

Maybe if the whole development shambles is settled by December there could be a talk on the future development roadpath for AGS by one of the codies.

Dave Gilbert's wife Janet is a Brit, so there's a possibility he/they may be floating around, especially around Xmas time. A more modern (read:active) developer might bring some fresh perspective than "the guy that developed this AAA game several years ago" - especially since adventure games these days are mostly indie / semi indie.

Technocrat has some nice stuff - Would be good to see what he's working on.

I'm not sure he'll pitch up but I'm sure you can bribe Yahtzee into contributing.

Give Davy some promo time on his Big Sheep game  ;)

Bribe a few game journalists to attend with a free ticket and a beer.
