Looking forward to it  :)

Consider a suitable pledge and some coverage from me, when both my bank account and my health recover a bit.  :)

I'm a billionaire now

Hello my name is Sahjid Omad and I am director of Bank of Nigeria. Recently you have received inheritance of 84 billion USD from the prince of Nigeria. All we need are your bank details......

;D

Ok maybe your not rich, but at least congrats on the massive amount of downloads you've acheived.

Maybe now you can steal Apple's tagline " Gilbert's Wadj Store. Over a billion downloads"  ;)

Is the background meant to be all blue? I like it. I still have some Mr Men books somewhere.

Lets be honest though, the Mr Men books were rubbish.. you could brush your arse by a computer keyboard and write a Mr Men book purely by accident..

I am not an artist so don't take this as gospel but this is my opinions:

The neck is a tiny bit too long. Bring shorten it by about 2-3mm.

You're right about the arm with the basket. To me its either the fact that the arm looks skinnier than the other (because of how you've positioned it), or the fact that the weight may cause the arm to be naturally straight when carrying the basket.

The final thing I have noticed is the chest seems a bit long. Even my boobs don't drop that far down my chest  ;)

Other than that I can't see anything else. But hey I'm a bit of a noob

Here is something TerranRich showed me a few days ago. I think it makes some valid points

T'm very busy right now finishing up Blue Moon and playing KingsAge and would settle for some truce. :=
All the best to everyone!
Miguel

A truce sounds fair.

I agree to disagree with everyone's religious beliefs and not judge you for it (except for scientology, which to be fair isn't a religion), providing you don't judge me for the lack of mine.

Do we all agree?

On my return, with regret I decided to delete my Best Of S Club 7 collection from the server to free up space, and thus it is now fixed.

That's ok CJ, Steps were better anyway

@Stee
I think you're talking about my game. I think the code is kind of confusing, so the trs is confusing, too.
I just translated my own recent MAGS game (programmed in english and translated into german).
I made some progress on coding, so my newer codes have a much more logical order. So translating it was quite easy.

No Helme, not just yours. Although yours is messy. I've come across this with every game I've done this for, and whilst some are worse than others, it appeared to be a pattern, making me think it was more to do with the engine than the person.

A simple solution may even be a couple of options added to a debug menu, ie where we could pause the game and alter the script in real time?

Ok maybe not so simple after all but you get my drift.

Maybe something like pressing a function key automatically finds that text in the .trs present in the game directory and marks it (puts *** next to it for instance)

I guess I could just be lazy...

amazing. A shame its not an actual remake

On trying to visit these very forums.....

QuoteSorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

.....  Does anyone know the cause, the remedy, or the secret back-up meeting place url?  I can only reread SSH's blog many times before going squirrelly.

Baron

These are just what have been mentioned on IRC channel, from a reliable source (scotch and AGA if I recall)
The Cause: The server got full
The remedy: CJ deleted his large collection of pictures from the server (of ponies so I have been told). These is short term I believe the server needs upgrading
The secret backup URL: Well few people still seem to be unaware of the chatroom on IRC. get yourself an IRC client such as MIRC or as I prefer XChat 2 (http://www.silverex.org/download/) and follow this guide http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/acirc.htm (you may have to adapt it to xchat but its fairly straightforward).

So to answer your final question, irc.adventuregamestudio.co.uk is the secret backup url  ;)

[offtopic] Thank you CJ or whoever it was who moved the religion thread to popular threads. It was really starting to annoy me having that pop up in GD all the time when I wanted to read something entertaining and meaningful. [/offtopic]

Just checked the bug tracker and couldn't find this anywhere.

Basically I occasionally help people out with polishing up English translations of their game. I have however noticed how messy the order of the translations are. For instance the dialogue at the start of the game ie room 2 or 3 for instance is at line 4562 of about 5800. Is there already some sort of workaround for this. If I was just sitting there translating a game it would be very easy, but the problem I find with proofreading is that often the text is fine, it seems to be context based errors (ie plural singular, possessive etc) that require playing the game to work out which form the game needs. It's just very awkward trying to go through thousands of lines of text to find the ones you want to alter

I'm hoping this is a genuine problem, and not just people writing very messy code to begin with, and making things hard for me.

TerranRich its a resolution for 720p (or technically 768p) and 1080i capable (it will scale the signal down) hdtvs.

There are some really weird resolutions out there. For instance my laptop does 1440x900 (which it at now) 1366x768, 1365x768 and 1360x768 as well as the other lower common resolutions
#235
It's both.

16:10 is more common in computer screens. It's typically the aspect ratio all the HD resolutions are in.

From wikipedia:

Common screen resolutions of 16:10 screens

Name   Dimensions   Diagonal screen size
WXGA   1280×800   13â€"15 in (33â€"38 cm)
WXGA+   1440×900   15â€"19 in (38â€"48 cm)
WSXGA+   1680×1050   20â€"22 in (51â€"56 cm)
WUXGA   1920×1200   23â€"28 in (58â€"71 cm)
WQXGA   2560×1600   30 in (76 cm)

source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16/10#Common_screen_resolutions_of_16:10_screens

Consequently, 1024x640 is a rather strange resolution to request support for. Is it some sort of silly netbook format? It's 8:5 aspect ratio.

16:9 ratio is the hd tv resolutions you get such as 1366x768 and 1920x1080

I will expect two awards.

Best person in the universe
and Best person in all known universes in the multiverse.

The prize should be eternal bliss and a £25 book token for W H Smith.

pfft. Like a £25 book token for Smiths is going to get you anything decent. I went in there to have a nosey at the computer books in there earlier. There was virtually nothing. A book token at Waterstones / Blackwells would get you further.

I like the idea, and will more than likely go, but why not just set a venue and say, right there's x amount of tickets first come first serve
#239
Myself and a friend (and possibly another) are keen to attend this (it also gives me a chance to catch up with them as they moved to london), however of course like I'm sure many of you are, we're holding off anything until you actually have a full confirmed amount of guests, and actually know where you are holding this.

By Guests we mean speakers, not fellow nerds buying tickets.

It's a bit weird that it's this close and there is no confirmation on anything yet other than 2 speakers. The venue is the most important!

Cheers. I'll get cracking on it tomorrow. The idea was to play on the laptop from bed (I'm lazy), but I'm too knackered now to start it up.

PS: The violence thing. I think it was just a gratuitous criticism  ;)

You can never have enough blood, guts, gore, axe murderers, ninjas etc. As long as its done well
