Can we merge this into the other ridiculously long thread on religion that ultimately went nowhere?

@Monkey , Miguel, Adeel : Don't argue with an atheist, they will always question your beliefs. If you are happy with them, then good for you  :)

@Khris, Crimson & other atheists / supporters of this side of the debate : Don't argue with a religious person, they are just as stubborn about their faith as you are about your lack of it.

All religions have a deep rooted level of corruption in them. It's about taking the good things out of the stories and overlooking the stuff that is quite obviously bullshit. All religions when broken down to their basics provide a good foundation of morals and ethics. After that, it's up to the person themselves what story to believe / not believe.

As for the whole homosexual thing.. I have no idea where the thread derailed (not like it was railed in the first place). I personally don't see why it matters. If it means they are going to hell or whatever in your religion then so be it. It's not like it's your problem. If you are an atheist and have issue with it then I think it is quite hypocritical to have issue with people who are free thinking and as liberal as you claim to be.

Personally I feel a tiny bit uneasy when I see 2 men kissing each other in public, but then I think hetero couples go far too overboard with it all too and that makes me uncomfortable. I'm hardly going to go around locking up homosexuals or start executing them for their beliefs / lifestyle choices / way they were born (circle whichever one you think is applicable). That stuff is what lead to WWII (yeah I'm invoking Godwins law again). In some way I think it's quite admirable that they continue to show their feelings in public despite the fact there are still so many people intolerant towards it.

Now I'm kinda hoping my magical ability to kill threads is still working as I'm getting bored of these Religion threads popping up  :(

I know I will probably get out voted on this, but I think it should be postponed to the next beta. Things like a new save game format are features that could potentially destroy backwards compatibility.

To me the features you are outlining in your parallel branch sound like major changes that would require a major revision release (ie 3.4.0). I'd rather see some more smaller enhancements to 3.3.0 so that we can have a new final build that everyone can use, and some more magic features in the parallel branch. To be honest I think there has been enough visible changes on the editor side (unfortunately the side most people would notice) to warrant 3.3.0 feature complete.

There's nothing stopping you from releasing another beta the minute you have a Release Candidate  :)

And although many of us here will consider her to be *wrong*, it doesnt mean she was *bad*, merely mistaken.

Tell that to the sailors of the Belgrano..

We were in a recession at the time and I don't doubt that cuts where necessary. However I think a lot of the decisions she made, especially in regards to the miners and privatisation, did the country more harm than good.

She scrapped the coal mines - we now import our energy. That is thousands of jobs taken out of the country and outsourced.

She deregulated the banks - the reason we are in this mess AGAIN.

She privatised water, gas, electricity, telecoms, the rail system. The result being everyone is getting ripped off because the companies can charge what they want for these services. We have governing bodies like Ofcom and Ofgem that are supposed to regulate these firms, but as can be seen in recent news they are not really interested.

You want to know why they are not interested?

Because your beloved politicians want a nice comfy seat on the board of these companies when their political careers come to an end. That's the price of looking the other way. That is also the reason why corporation tax is getting cut.

She is one of David Cameron's biggest influences, and you can see Thatcherism in the policies he makes whilst in power. I remember one of the statements they were making during the election was something along the lines of "we got you out of the recession last time". Yes, you did, by selling off everything valuable the state owned. There isn't much left to sell now!!!

That is why she was bad. That is why people are having street parties to celebrate her death even if it is somewhat over the top. The only shame in it is that she didn't die 30 years earlier in that hotel.

Unfortunately we are going to have much of the same crap all over again. I don't know what the solution to the recession is. But I know a second era of Thatcherism isn't the answer

The Royal Mail will go soon. I fear for the safety of the NHS. I can't think of anything else of value we have left.

Maybe we can auction off the Royal Family...

And no, she doesn't deserve a state funeral, or whatever they are dressing it up as. But it's nice to be doubly certain that she is dead

If you did not know already this very forum and the AGS site is hosted on the AGSA server too ;).
And the old #AGS is not really even "official" in itself. I don't really see why you are trying to make this such a big deal neither :-\.

Tradition Peder. Also the AGS IRC awards game thingy would work Out of The Box then too. Some changes are a bit silly when they are unnecessary and create extra work

Also is there not gonna be a AGS awards game this year?

No, I wasn't able to fix the security issues with the .exe (i.e. a malicious third party able to break the ceremony).
Nice suit!

It's hardly a problem if the malicious third party isn't around. Can we rename them the AGSA Awards now since they are on the AGSA Server?

Thanks to everyone for their feedback so far! Interested parties may be - uh - interested to know that Richard & Alice is available for just £1.99 / $2.99 this weekend. So if you're searching for a game to play, why not grab this one? We think you'll like it!

Head here to find out more: http://denbyraze.com/2013/03/21/richard-alice-half-price-for-the-end-of-winter/

End of Winter? Have you seen the weather? Walking through a blizzard yesterday to get to work in the middle of march, this game was the first thing that came into my head. That and several curse words as I had to walk against the wind. We should really burn you at the stake for your witchcraftery!!!

If anyone is sat on the fence about this game, let me just tell you that in terms of story and emotional grab, this is probably one of the best AGS games I have ever played

Why on the copycat server?
What's wrong with the normal irc server that everyone already knows / uses?

General Discussion / Re: Diet weight loss
Wed 13/02/2013 19:47:13
If we are talking calorie counting, 600 calories a day (starving yourself) increases the chance that your body goes into panic and starts storing food (as fat) rather than losing weight. You may find once you come off that diet that you start putting weight on as you metabolism slows (to counter the fact that you are not giving your body enough energy). It's a good "crash diet" I suppose for quickly losing weight but you will have a hard time keeping that weight off.

The recommended minimum calorie intake for a male I believe is 1200, for precisely this purpose, unless you are morbidly obese (16 stone isn't morbidly obese unless you are some kind of midget). If you are keen to lose the weight you are probably better keeping at or above that threshold and complimenting your diet with an exercise regime. Also, not to sound like your Dad or anything, but if you have had a stroke and / or a medical condition etc, just for your own wellbeing I'd seek advice from a doctor if you are keen to get rid of the weight. Drastic changes to your weight through crash dieting can put a strain on your heart.

Good luck with the weight loss though and all the best in the future! Last time I weighed myself I was around the 15/16 stone mark and I used to be 12. I've been on some crazy diets (student inflicted not weight loss) and lost and gained weight so it's not an exact science.

Cheers Ponch!

Thanks Icey, hope you had a good birthday too! In the UK you would be considered a fully fledged adult with alcohol rights, and if you can remember your 18th you are doing it wrong!
