Yes, but if they really cared about adventure games, they'd still be making them.

The shorter arm needs a hand as well. Other than that, the sprite looks good. Oh, and you should probably give him ears.

Last I checked, it was December. He must've gotten an email notification of the PM. His only three posts since December were in this thread.
#324
I don't think he'll get your PM. He hasn't been active since December of last year.

Also, Turkish Star Wars - see it now!

Thanks for mentioning it- I had never heard of it until seeing this thread. I watched some clips and it really is one of the best crap movies ever. Almost a comedy, it's so stupid. The lame, incoherent editing is probably the funniest part about it.

Looking good, neelhound. Major improvements over your previous animations. The frames where he's pouring the water aren't as good (the water goes back into the bucket), but overall, a much better entry than I've ever seen from you before. Keep working at it, and you'll be a great animator

Best Worst Movie: Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones.

Need I say more?

I tried the demo, and it's alright. The music is okay. Looking forward to the full release (english version). And Nikolas, it's not really imitating the style, it's more like taking a design from another game and colouring over it. I can live with that though. Looks a lot better than some other games I've seen lately.

So showing people dealing in prostitution, gambling, and using swear words in every sentence in a cartoon is better than showing characters drinking alcohol or smoking? Cartoons still make racist jabs. Cartoons feature more violence than any of those old shows. And even if they're marketed to adults, kids will still watch them because they're cartoons.

Looks excellent for a newbie. Looking forward to playing it.

I feel like nowadays, people have really screwy ideas about cartoons. They allow shows like South Park and Family Guy to go uncensored (for the most part), but they condemn most shows that were made in the 40s-60s, like Loony Tunes, Tom and Jerry, etc. for containing violence and animal cruelty. I mean, seriously; they're anthropomorphic animals! I even read an article saying that they were going to censor any Tom and Jerry episodes that contained smoking (and probably numerous other old shows that contained that sort of thing).

What I hate the most about the games page is that most of the time, you just have to pick a game out of 900 games randomly, and hope it's good.

The only rule I can think of when naming titles is avoid generic, overused words.
EXAMPLES:
Quest, Night, Black, Shadow, Dark, Evil, Kingdom, Land, Lost, Legendary, Epic, Ancient, Legend, War, Battle, Prophecy, etc.

You know, typically, I won't even play a game if it has a title like 'Ancient Quest' or a generic sci-fi name. So a name really is important.

Good titles:
Full Throttle
Day Of The Tentacle
Kaptain Brawe: Brawe New World (it's a game I found on  AdventureDevelopers.com, I know the title is a bit corny, but a title with a play on words is always nice to see)
Secrets (it's simple, just one word)
Spooks (simple as well, has a double meaning in a way, because the game is set in sort of a 'spooky' world with ghosts, etc. and the main objective is about a character named Spooks)
Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! (the title is cartoony sounding and has a nice feel to it)
Just Another Point 'N Click Adventure (witty titles like this work great)
Duty And Beyond
Leisure Suit Larry
Da New Guys
The Greak Stroke Off
Super Jazz Man (the 'Super ____ Man thing is a bit overused, but the ____ part of this title is interesting)
Myst
Emily Enough
Halo

Bad Titles:
Lost Planet (generic)
Adventures Of Fatman (how many times have we heard a title like that before)
Space Quest
King's Quest
Police Quest
God Of War
Gears Of War
F.E.A.R.

and finally, despite the fact I'm helping to make this game, nothing against esper...
Alpha X (it's a really general name that doesn't tell much about the game, and isn't really interesting). JpGames: Choose your title carefully. A good title could decide the outcome between people playing your game or not.

Yes, SpongeBob is pretty good, though after a while it gets tiring.
#335
The title Far Cry would work good for a comedy game..

I agree that it doesn't looked ripped or painted over now, but instead of using designs from Family Guy and DOTT, why not use original designs? Both of your backgrounds look like rooms from DOTT and the main character sprite looks exactly like Peter Griffin, with lighter hair.

Anyways I think it would be more fair to compare TMNT with something like avatar, because spongebob is not even for the same market.

Spongebob can actually be viewed in two different ways: 1. The younger children can watch it because it's a cartoon, and because the characters act their age. 2. Older children, adults watch it for the hidden subtleties in the show and the humour. The show is just made that way. It's funny to older people, cool to younger. Younger kids don't even find the show funny most of the time.

Slightly off topic: Somebody remembers "Serlock Hound"? A manga (but which did not look as the nowadays "only-suitable-for-wankers" manga) starred by animals and inspired in the characters created by Doyle? They were great, if someone could provide a link, I would be very happy.

Oh man! I used to love that show! My dad bought me a couple episodes of it on video and I loved it as a youngster. Seems like all the anime shows today are just crap remakes of each other, but that show was good. I also remember an anime version of Tom Sawyer that was decent. If you want links, here you go:

Wikipedia Page

Random anime site with info on it

YouTuber who has posted a few episodes of it on the site

Hope you're happy.

Regarding the character study thing: the third Indy film was sort of a character study; maybe this one is going to be too.
