I think Thomas' "letter" seems very tongue in cheek, and I doubt if he was being serious at all when he wrote it. But I didn't expect this movie to be anything special, even when I first heard it was being made, and that was at least 5 years ago. From what I've read in various reviews, it seems like the creator of the movie (Matt Groening?) wanted to skip the humour side of things and give everyone some good old Springfield soft core pr0n.

Hang on, what?

You're judging the movie without even having seen it?

Jeez... I have an idea, why don't people either

1. see the movie, then judge it
2. don't see the movie but stop complaining about it

Stop stealing other peoples opinions and grow your own... for heavens sake there's nothing worse than people judging things they haven't even seen/heard/experienced...
Those are exactly my feelings about how this forum judges Indy IV, but I'll reserve that for another thread...

I haven't seen the movie either, but I found the Spiderpig scene to be slightly annoying (while only funny the first time). I just think it's so anticlimactic how we've been so many years waiting for a Simpsons movie to come out, and instead of giving us what made the TV series so popular, they give us yellow people pr0n (okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, but you get the point).

Major update: Spielberg and crew had a live video shown at ComicCon San Diego, on the set of Indy 4 (well, in the back of the set behind a curtain, so you couldn't really see anything from the set), and the following people are definitely in the movie:

Harrison Ford--- Indiana Jones
Ray Winstone--- Sidekick with an undisclosed name
Shia LaBeouf :P--- another 'sidekick', used for comic relief (apparently)..
Karen Allen--- Marion Ravenwood

John Williams will return to make the soundtrack. The title is still unknown, (Spielberg said: "We're here on the set of Indiana Jones and the *cough cough cough*) but Lucasfilm plans to release a trailer later this year with the title in it.

More details here!

This show looks really interesting, but before I watch, let me ask: did this make it onto 'On The Lot'?
#67
It seems like the AGS games with 'Legend' in their titles always look so tantalizing. It also seems like they never get released. :/
#68
Any chance of releasing an updated version with the 'alternate ending'?

And I'd be number 2 on your list! I doubt that Mordalles would ever make any commercial games, because he doesn't seem to care about money, and he cares more about people having fun playing a good game.

Don't blame Mordalles for not publicizing his game; he's a South african, and from what I've seen, they're very humble about these sorts of things. Buloght (a superb South african pixeler) thinks his own art needs improvement. But everyone else thinks otherwise. :)

If Mordy 2 was Dave Gilbert's game, it would probably be remade with tons of features and updated graphics (not like they need to be), and it would probably go commercial. Nothing against Dave, but I like the down-to-earth, laid-back South Africans better. On the other hand, I am somewhat surprised that Mordy 2 hasn't received as much attention as other games, like Spooks, or The Shivah, but that doesn't make the game any less great. In fact, this is probably one of the best AGS games, in part due to the amazing 3D rendered graphics, which almost look like claymation. You are a great developer, Mordalles, and I'm anticipating your next AGS game(s)! If you need any help with any games (mainly the musical side of things), don't hesitate to PM me.

This game is great! This game could be a serious competitor for the 'Best Short Game' AGS award. I think Storygamer's additions sound good, what do you think, J?

I love mafia! The game where everyone gets dealt a card and that determines what type of character you are, and then you have to figure out who's the mafia? Oh, it's not the same game? Meh... I don't wanna play it. :)

A few of these are Sloganizerized:
"AGS: When you say Adventure Game Studio you've said it all."
"AGS: Made by Adventure Game Studio."
"AGS: There's only one true Adventure Game Studio."
"I quit smoking with AGS."
"AGS: It's not easy being the blue-est."
"I wish I had an Adventure Game Studio."

It could either be Bruce Campbell, or it could be Chris Jones'- he also has eyes, a forehead, and a nose. Come to think of it, it could be Paris Hilton! She has a friggin' big chin...

Why not release the game and add the voice pack afterwards? That's what most games have. Then, if someone dislikes having voices in a game, they can have a version without them.

Just came up with these after seeing a certain username: :)

Let us tickle your hotspot while we tickle your CPU.

AGS. Tickling hotspots since 1997.

One of my favourite groups, The Police, are reuniting as well... I guess 2007's the year for that sort of thing. Unfortunately, most Police shows get sold out. :P

Glad to hear that Genesis is reuniting; I've always been fond of any sort of progrock.

but the little tinker/clicking/loading sounds coming from my forgotten A:/> Drive. Oh, how I've missed these sounds. I was immediately brought back to a simpiler time. When adventure games came on 6 disks and nobody seemed to care about loading times or switching back between disks because the area you wanted to go to was saved on another disk.
I think that you can actually alter your sound card to make the computer play those sounds for older games (I think you can do that via ScummVM).

On-topic: I love downloading abandonware games and then realizing I can't play them because I don't have 'disc 42'. :=

back when the the big box actully was useful?
Do you mean the boxes that games came in? I hate how they have those puny little PC game boxes now. I had grown quite fond of the big boxes.

If the intention of this thread was to get anyone in the community to come out and speak about their belief I think it has completely failed.  Even though I may disagree with Scientology very strongly I see no attempts by you, Meowster, to keep this thread serious or any intentions on your part except to ridicule anyone who might follow it. If I was a follower of Scientology this thread would be the last place I would try to have an open discussion about it.
Scientology just isn't credible enough to hold itself up as a religion. Satanism is, and so Satanism's thread had/has a far more serious discussion.

Quote from: Radiant
Does anyone know the Dutch Satan Church? No, not Satanism, although they're sometimes confused for one another. It's basically a practical joke gone way too far... in the seventies, there was this man who owned a nightclub, and at some point he realized that religions had tax benefits. At that point he declared his nightclub a religion, with some added poohah, and this being the seventies, got away with it.
Never heard of it, but that sounds pretty funny. :D

This religion is ridiculous. Sounds like the guy had been drunk while watching many sci-fi movies in one night.

It seems like the time for threads about 'Church Of ____________(insert church type/name)' in ol' AGS land. :)
