Messages - Steel Drummer

Here it is- the remake of the most controversial (and I use the term loosely) ;D game in AGS history. Yep, you guessed it- David Smith: Private Investigator!!!! (and no, the game's title doesn't include the exclamation marks)Ã,  ::)Ã,  Anyways, this is a totally redone, totally new adventure. No, it's not a sequel, it's just a better version of the original game (which, in case you were wondering, is 2010: World of Chaos). The game features:
A completely (pretty much) redone storyline!
190%+ better characters!Ã,
A whole cast of voice actors!
And much, much, more..

Here are some screenshots:

This first one is just a background (by gameboy)..

A night version of the same scene (paintover by yodaman11111)

(bg by yodaman11111)

(bg by yodaman11111)

The game features characters by lo_res_man and yodaman11111, backgrounds by Saberteeth, gameboy, and yodaman11111 and here's the voice cast:
FEATURING Rob "Raggit" Scott as David Smith with "Obi" as Man on Plane, Freddy Bonetti, and The Guard and Strange Visitor as AL-Fahar Shamra.
(there are others, but we don't want to spoil it.)

Here's the stats:

Storyline: 95%Ã,
Characters: 60%
Animation: 10%
Music: 100%
Voices: 40%

We are currently hiring voice actors. If you'e interested, PM me.

PRODUCTION NOTES/INFO

Finished a good portion of the game. Going smoothly, with one new background (by saber and gameboy) being made each week. Characters are going great too. Thank you, lo_res_man! Voices are painstaking work, because we have to take a line, convert it to WAV format, and then find the right place in the game to put it in. For music, we are using 1-2 themes from the old game, and are using free midis off the internet. Keep checking back for the latest news on the game!Ã,
NEW: Here's some speech from the game, and a piece of music from it also. http://s2.gimehost.com/v/5313403/Line_preview.zipÃ,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, NOTE: The rough voice is a police chief and the regular voice is David Smith. The rest is from a German thug.

Check in a reply for the screenshots.

Female Voice Needed-

We have two female parts in an upcoming game. The first is an old secretary lady. The second is the love interest for the main character in the game. If you are interested, PM me.

Actually, it's sort of neat that he's doing this, but all the Sierra games pretty much have the same GUI, except with different style buttons. The GK1 GUI, however was neat. Especially how you could listen to conversations you previously had.

Just wondering if anyone on here was from Canada.. or more specific British Columbia, or even more specific than that.. Abbotsford.. just curious. I normally would've used the AGS world map but it won't work for my computer or something.
#845
They look awesome! Can you show me how to draw like this?
#846
Kind of neat, but the GUI for LSL1 is the pretty much the same as the default AGS GUI. Most adventure games use the same GUI anyways.

Are we allowed 2 entries? I remember a previous Sprite Jam where we could do that..
#848
I think it would be hard to draw a plane in that small of a size... I'll try though. when I enter sprite jams, I don't enter for the idea, I usually enter for the art.
#849
Very vague topic.. anyways, could I draw a plane that would be called the steel angel?
#850
what's the point of this anyway?

A suggestion for the original animation:

The guy should be lightly jumping back and forth, not moving one leg.

General Discussion / Music Programs
Mon 22/05/2006 15:16:49
Hi, I don't know if this the right place to post this, but here goes: just a question: Are there any free music programs which have many different instruments for midi? I looked around the internet, but I could only find trial versions.
#853
So... are you gonna release a demo fo' this anytime soon? And btw, what's so untold about the power of this "ring"?  :=
#854
another thing regarding animation: how do I make characters walk in one continuos path without making the game stop (eg: in BASS, characters walked certain places at certain times but you didn't have to wait for them).
#855
How do I get more than four background animation frames?

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Re: Name?

Regarding the names in LotR: it doesn't matter how much the names stand out. Take one of my good buddies for example, a casual LotR fan. He forgot most of the names of the characters in the fellowship. I think the names are memorable if you are really into the thing. People that are HUGE LotR fans know all the characters names and will forever. And darn you for forgetting David Smith's name! Well, with a name as common as that, it is pretty easy to forget  :).

Meet Grond, He hasnt seen much action lately so he's started attacking pies. (He's gotten fat)

He was a lot of hard work, I dont think I'll enter another jam for a while.

wasn't Grond the battering ram used by the orcs in Lord of The Rings: Return of The King?

General Discussion / Re: Da Vinci Code Redux

Well what's the big deal about it? No one here has said it's some kind of 'bestseller' so what's so great about it? And what, really, is "The Da Vinci Code' that the book's about?

Well, all the sources say that Jesus DID NOT marry  :) Mary  :).  By the way, what is the da vinci code about? I know it slams christianity, but is it a story, or is it like some sort of documentary? And what's up with all the hype over it? Why do people like it so much?
