Firstly, thanks for the game MantraofDoom!

I've found a micro-bug:
Spoiler
when you enter the bridge for the first time, there's a hotspot near Del's desk that says "Eric". It's to the right of the rectangular bolted pannel

I've found the...
Spoiler
...scythe. It was really hard! Is the black marker hidden in a similar place?

Nice game, by the way. Didn't find any bugs so far!

Yay! Glad you decided to put the link to the game back on.

Been there, Nergal. It's quite saddening, because this egomaniac individuals usually aim at our weakest spots, with no remorse...
But don't let his/hers envious destructiveness ruin your passion for making games. That's my five cents.
#44
Why did you delete it, Nergal? :'( It was a cool game.

Hum...
What Ryan Timothy said about the separation makes a lot of sense, because currently there are 3 vanishing points (as it was already said), but they're being used in pairs!! The left building uses VP 1 and 2. The right one uses 2 and 3 as if they were in completely separated scenes.

My bet is that what you're trying to do is to use a modified version of a 5 points perspective, such as:

(this site has some cool diagrams for drawing "fish eye" perspectives such as this one. Check them here: http://www.2d-digital-art-guide.com/perspective-diagrams.html)

And here's what the perspective would look like using this technique:

In your case you could just get rid of the top and bottom vanishing points, thus still using only 3 of them.

Wow! Excellent job, Ionias.
I'm glad my raw image helped, even if only a tiny bit.

Niptick: The white pixels on the AA of the lines...
they'll probably pop up against darker backgrounds?

Anyway, "The Adventures of Fatman" was the very first AGS game I played back in the day so I'm really eager to see more/play this one. ;)

Go look at some naked women. =P
My problem doesn’t stem from not understanding female anatomy or being unable to draw it. I think the problem lies in my being unable to draw the female form without the exaggerated anatomy that you always find in the comics. This is my first proper attempt at drawing anything but your typical big breasted “hottie” … but perhaps I bit off more than I can chew by going in the exact opposite direction.
Yeah I find that pretty hard to accomplish too, specially when there isn't a formula available (such as hotties)!
But I use references even when I don't intend to create a photographic human being, though. Mainly to check proportions once in a while...
Here's what I mean:

how did you get to the woods, I;m still going round aimlessly. Have put fragments in place but can't seem to move on from that. Your help would be appreciated

I'm sorry maggie! I assumed that you were already...
Spoiler
...outside the house. That's what happened to me anyway, after I placed all fragments in their corresponding quadrants.

problem:You may have exploited a bug I've already reported without knowing it: if you take the fragment from the portrait twice, you'll still be able to place the replica in the next quadrant as if it was a unique one!!!
solution: In this case, you'll probably have to restart/load the game, since the last fragment must be obtained from the guy behind the portal (that can be opened by following what Leon said)

robvalue,
No problem! I hope you managed to finish the game too.  ;)

Two more bugs!
Spoiler
1. as already mentioned by Leon, Engel speaks in Spanish after copying the symbols from the wall. Fortunately I understand Spanish. ;D
2. After picking up the twig in the fountain, if you look a second time, there's the twig again.

robvalue,
It's like I said. I mixed up the names!
Spoiler
I did get the Arabic Gum from the giant and not the Walnut stain!
[close]

Oh, my. It's worse that we could have anticipated.
The reason I was stuck:
Spoiler
I didn't see the pantry to the left of the kitchen and thus never found the green liquid! :o
[close]
So, thanks for the tip. ;D

maggie,
Not there yet but will post as soon as I have the answer.

EDIT (major spoilers!):
Spoiler
Entered the woods and got soap by the washtub.
Went further to the right and clicked a button that activated something (don't know what, though!).

Inverted the fountain water direction using a switch in the hut. Grabbed the twig!

Main gate: use twig to open the lid of the tank and use soap to react with gas.
[close]
And stuck again...

EDIT2 (more spoiling!):
Spoiler
There's a string hanging on a pole by the washtub. Pretty hard to find. The rest is pretty intuitive! ;D
[close]

EDIT3: Finished! Yay!

Oops. :-[
Spoiler
I think I mixed the names up. The giant gives you Arabic Gum (which is what I currently have) and not Walnut Stain and that's why I couldn't add it to the water. Where did you find it?

Hey, robvalue. I went a little bit further than you and got stuck too.

Here's what I did that you didn't yet:
Spoiler
solvent: you have to mix two things that are already in your invetory! ;)
I did it by accident, so I think it would be nice if there were hints about what to do.
scraps: They'll only stay on their quadrants if you put them in the right order.
There are hints about this one. Look more carefully in your inventory...
[close]
And here's what got me stuck:
Spoiler
if you have payed attention to the conversation you had with the giant, you probably went looking for his lighter in the basement.
Well, I managed to get the lighter and then got the "wallnut paste" (Is that the correct name?) described on the torn book sheet.
My bet is that we must use it to make some ink for the pen. It says we should mix it in water.
problem: (wondering if it's a bug) after adding the water to the bowl in the kitchen, it won't let me add the "walnut paste" in order to create the ink.
[close]
#53
First I'd like to say thanks for the game. It has been pretty entertaining so far! ;)

I've found a bug:
Spoiler
if you read the proverb book then read the "walnut stain" sheet, you get caught in an infinite loop.
Clicking "back" will only send you to the previous book instead of showing the library again.
[close]
Another bug:
Spoiler
you can take the same "fragment of a drawing" several times from the "photo frame"
[close]
Thanks again Nergal.

Cheers,
-Stefano

What a cool Halloween gift! So nicely put together.
Please make it into a series.

I've finished as "Acceptable". "Waste Wizard" must be a way better rank, I suppose.

I'm probably just being dumb, but...

Spoiler
...how did you manage to tie the cable to the hydro spanner (tm)??
Every time I try to combine 2 items I can just dump the one I'm holding and grab the second one instead.
[close]

Nevermind. I was being dumb! ;D Just for the record:

Spoiler
2nd mouse button isn't just for getting item descriptions.
[close]

I'm curious: I had to kill...

Spoiler
...the lemming guy in order to connect the wires. Did anyone find a workaround? Poor guy.
[close]

Well, I finally did it! But now there's this second stage of the game and I'm completely stuck! (careful! Big spoilers ahead!)

Spoiler
1. I've manage to grab the "liquid containing device" (a.k.a. mug) and filled with green corrosive goop.
[close]
Spoiler
2. Used the meat pie and then scanner on the crawlspace by the computer. Character is then convinced it's not a rat and agrees to leap into the darkness! Lol!
[close]

And that's about all I can do right now.

Nevemind. Finished it!

This definitely is my kind of game! Wouldn't change a thing.
Just love the cultural critics concealed behind the purposely misspelled dialogs and naive art.

My personal favorite bit: The knocking on cousin Anton's door animation. Don't know why exactly, but I laugh every time!

Thanks for making it!

Thanks for joining, folks! I'll try to coherently comment your work using nothing but my crappy English from the tropics.

BillyCoen - that's exactly the type of behavior I would expect from creature adapted to survive in such a hostile, food-scarce environment! Loved your concept and the cave-like hybrid rock|mushroom look you've picked.
Ghost - I LOLd @ the EGA stuff and how it rendered modern pixel capturing equipment useless! The 16th centurish pixel pistol sure is an extra treat and made me LOL too.
ProgZmax - Oh! Chris Jones in a Roger suit (a.k.a. tights!). Hahaha! That's brilliant, mate. And the notebook matching the uniform colors... just freaking priceless.
Oddysseus - "I was going to put more effort into it, but I didn't." Aw. That's too bad... your sprite was definitely going somewhere. Maybe next time?

Aaaanyway.
Winners, please take these chewable pixel hunter helm scaled replicas, with soft special glow-in-the-dark mushed 'shrooms filling as a token of our appreciation, for risking your lifes in our expedition to the Underworld, 2008 version.

- 1st - ProgZ
- 2nd - Ghost
- 3rd - BillyCoen
Warning: may contain unknown microscopic pixel creatures.

Congrats!  ;)

While I was playing the game, I couldn't help but think that "This Guy" bears a remarkable resemblance to actor Liev Schreiber's.

There. End of my useless post. ;D

Thanks for the game, by the way.
I love it! Laughed a lot at the main character remarks, even though the main story is pretty tragic.

I'm getting an error after:
Spoiler
I've read the code on suitcase at the gray house, crawl back to the pink house and enter the living room. This triggers the dialogue "HONNEY! I'M HOME!". I can tell that it's the husband coming through the front door, but if I try to go to the entrance hallway, I get the error.

EDIT: Hum... I just realized that the scene belonged to a different house (or time. It should happen on white house and not pink). Maybe that's the problem.
