Did the first victim fall off his own roof?

Cool. Another nice riddle. I’ve tried sitting there and thinking up a good mystery but can’t get it right.

I don’t think of this game as having winners. I really like the teamwork and narrowing it down together.

I will share this “win” with I am a loser. You have to change your name now, buddy. I’ll keep thinking of a good one for a future case but by all means, anybody jump in. Do you have any ideas I am a loser winner?

Hell hath no fury like a hacker scorned.

Our hero was royally scorned. After Erin dumped him for Gareth, he stalked them until they got a restraining order on him. But this is the 21st century and the judge said nothing about cyber stalking. Anyway, their shared Instagram account is public. So he follows their adventures for a while and it seems they’re planning a hike in the woods. He still has her old number and iCloud password. Using his wizzy hacky cyber skillz, he sends a little Forced update to her phone. One that allows him to track their trek through the great outdoors and manipulate the location marker in her maps app. He essentially watches as they get farther and farther off track, and keeps watching until the dot stops moving forever, right where that ravine would be.

They even took the kitchen sink. Absolute bedlam.

We’re they in the desert?

Did our hero know where they would be travelling because they had been posting all about their trip on Instagram?

Were they on honeymoon?
#1126
Did he send the smartphone in the package?
Was the smartphone rigged in some way? [sorry, just noticed this was already asked - I’ll leave it here anyway]
Did Gavin and Erin die outside?
Did he mess with the Phone’s GPS so that the couple got lost?
Were Gavin and Erin eaten by one or more animals?
#1127
Were the deaths related to sport?
Were the deaths related to outdoorsiness?
Were the deaths related to the Fitbit?
Is our hero a hacker?

That was fun. Cheers Helten

@Blondbraid - if you need a couple of days extension that could be arranged. :-)

Yes, they could have used a different plot device.
No, I’m not “comfortable” watching rape scenes on TV. “Defending” is a strong word. I’m just saying it didn’t feel like a terrible decision to me in the context of the larger story arc. I could explain why but it would include massive spoilers and I don’t think you’d want to read it anyway.
Yes, I still really liked the TV show and watched every episode and stand by my recommendation.
Thank you for the link. I promise to read it today.

I’m also not a big fan of gratuitous rape scenes. The one in episode one though is what leads to Bates making taking part in his first(?) kill, which is basically the inciting incident for the whole series. It has to be extreme enough to warrant everything that happens next.

I’ve only seen a handful of his films and there are a few I know I’ve seen but can’t really remember. But the only ones I have gone back to in recent years are Psycho and Rear Window. Both cracking films.

Heltenjon mentioned Bates Motel. That’s a great show and well worth a watch whether or not you’re a fan of Psycho. Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga are fantastic throughout. Do it!

Vertigo has recently appeared on Netflix, so I might have a look.

Was it hot water coming from the tap ?

Oh Jesus. That poor fish.
#1134
Had Anna left Fred in his (full) bowl under the tap, which was open but not producing water because of the works?
Did the water then come on and start flowing because Anna hadn’t closed the tap?
Did Fred essentially get flushed out of his own bowl?
Did Fred also get flushed out of the sink?
#1135
Is Anna at the scene now?
Is Fred recognizable in his current state?
Does the apartment allow pets?
Is the letter from the landlord regarding the no-pet policy?
Did Anna try hiding Fred somewhere?
#1136
Is Fred a pet?

Was there any blood at the scene?

Did the letter on the fridge contain bad news?

Did Anna kill Fred deliberately?

Did Anna kill Fred accidentally?
#1137
Did somebody drown?
Did something drown? (E.g. an animal)
Had the kitchen flooded?
Did Anna and Fred run away from something?
We’re there really 59 cases before this?

Is it ironic that I've forgotten to check the MAGS at the beginning of this month? Because I usually do, for inspiration...
Don’t worry. It’s all in the past.  ;)

Look out for the next topic on June 1st*

(*Hopefully. That’s also when I go back to work after 2 months off.)

Aha. Thanks for that, Snarky.
Well done heltonjon for beating me to it and to Riaise who was also on the right track.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if some grandparents have received some unexpected ‘visits’ recently.

Your explanation though, Snarky, seems to contradict this question which you filed under ‘no’:
Did the murderer take the pills before carrying out the crime?

If it was to suppress the symptoms, surely would have taken them before the visit?

And the winner of MAGS April is:

‘The Penthouse’ by Intense Degree

What a comeback. Well done ID. I’ll PM you soon about coming up with a topic for June.
