People who say you should always listen to criticism are either idiots who have never tried creating something or super talented artists who have only ever received mild suggestions and have never been told they sux.

Only listen to the criticism that applies to you. Then decide whether or not to take it on board. Say thanks for their opinion and then either implement their ideas or don't, depending only on whether you want to or not. It's still your comic. You'll soon be able to filter out the good suggestions from the bad ones quite quickly and easily.

Cool. We're almost good to go with the voting then. Just waiting for December's voting to finish and then I'll post a new thread with a link to the Google Form.

We're gonna try just choosing three unranked options. For MAGGIES 2017 we had 22 voters. For 2018 we only had 14. I'm hoping we can at least match, if not exceed, the number of voters of two years ago.

Looking at this thread, AGS has had a good year.
Was just thinking the same thing. This is a nice harvest.

The foggy version is definitely my favorite. It reminds me of Silent Hill.

Of course, whatever method we go with, it works best the more people vote.  ;)

I guess this is the main thing isn't it? Maybe getting rid of the ranking will mean one less thing to worry think about and could result in a few more voters.

This keeps looking better and better.

The forum poll does allow a maximum number of votes per voter (I think). Another disadvantage of using the forum poll, though, is that there's no option to hide the result once the voting period is over. That's not necessarily bad but we like to announce the result during the AGS awards so using a Google poll avoids the result being spoiled.

Hi Icey. Man, what a great message. We should all aspire to be as encouraging and thoughtful as this. What a loss.

It's nearly time to vote for the best MAGS game of 2019.

In the past couple of years we've voted using a Google Form, giving different point values to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Did anyone have any issues with that particular set-up?

It might be simpler to just choose your top three in no particular order and give equal points for each vote.

Simpler than that would be to just choose your one favourite game, but there are 12 to choose from so it makes more sense to give everyone multiple votes.

So, two questions really:
How many votes should each voter get?
Should each vote be placed giving different point values or should all votes get the same value (likely 1 point)?

Bonus Question:
Any other suggestions?

I'll close this thread in a few days before starting the voting.

Perhaps I could revisit the world I started to create the last time Steampunk came up as a topic.

I promise that if I do it will actually have a plot this time.

Apologies again for the delay. Thanks for the great-looking entries.
Voting is now open. Please vote using the poll above.

Is anyone taking advantage of the extension?
Let's give it another day. So midnight GMT Friday night.

The winner of this month's contest was Slasher for Fritz, the Cat.

Theme: Misfit
Set by Fernewelten

Make a game in which a misfit plays an important role. This can be the protagonist but needn't be. It could be anyone or anything:

  • that is very different from all the rest
  • or that has a quality that nobody else shares
  • or that doesn't conform
  • or that is the only gifted among the ungifted …

Come up with ideas what a “misfit” means to you

You may use existing artwork to make your game.

Happy authoring!

Oh dear. It was right there the whole time. I overthought the X thing.

What about the rest of the string though? There's loads more.

I finally cleared a pile of branches and rotting leaves that has been sitting outside my house since October. I call that a win.

You must have your account set to GMT. Mine's set to +8 (it should be +9 but I never changed it when the clocks in the UK went back

(Mandle mentioned before about using an X to show the end of a part so I'm guessing this is the same. Presuming the X is a space and the in the sequence is the 5, we have “CODE 5” which is a police code. After than it's gibberish again.)
