General Discussion / Re: Typhoon HAGIBIS
Wed 16/10/2019 01:10:16
As Mandle said, the wind was not actually that bad at all. We had a typhoon last month whose wind was much scarier and more damaging. And last year, the corner of our roof came off in a typhoon and it took three months for them to come and fix it. So I was quite worried about the wind. But in the end, Hagibis was all about the rain. Some parts of my local area were affected by flooding but the most we had to deal with was a small drip from the kitchen window.

The following day was beautiful though. My wife and I went for a stroll down to the river to check out the water levels and found this creepy cutie staring at us:

Apparently it's a Hakubishin (masked palm civet). I was crapping myself until I realised it is just a taxidermy.

@Mandle, well done on saving the cat. We saw some kittens outside the house a few days before the typhoon. Hope they are okay.

Everyone knows you only wear suspenders with stockings.

Ooh. Goosebumps! I used to love the old goosebumps choose-your-own-adventures. How about remaking one of those stories in AGS with visuals. Perhaps not for this MAGS but for a future project.

Concept - Creamy. I would love to play a game in this world.
Playability - Lorenzo. Lots to explore and interact with.
Artistic Expression - Lorenzo. Lots of beautifully crafted entries. But in the end this is the one that I would choose to hang on my wall, given the choice.

Have fun everyone.

@Mouthforwar - There really is very little left on regular TV worth watching. That's where Netflix comes in.

Thanks for the entries for MAGS October.

The winner is: Desmond: The 'Thing' from Another World by Slasher

Paper Planes
by Creamy

Desmond: The Thing from Another World
by Slasher

Topic: Kids
Chosen by cat, Marcin K and CaptainD
Deadline: October 31st

Make a game where children play an important role.

  • The player character can be a kid but doesn't have to be.
  • The game can be made for children or for adults.
  • It can be funny and lighthearted or dark and depressing, even horror is fine!

What is MAGS?

Started in 2001, MAGS is a competition for amateur adventure game makers. The idea is to create a game in under a month, following the rules set by the previous winner. It aims to help you work to a deadline, improve your skills, and provide a kick-start into making adventure games. Regardless of skill, MAGS is for everyone. Voting is based on "favourite" games, and not the most artistic, or the best coded. If you have bad art skills, use it as a chance to do some graphic work. If you're sub-standard at coding, use it as a chance to give scripting a go. Ultimately, people will vote for the most enjoyable entry.

Rules

Entering MAGS is simple. First, conceptualise your game following the month's criteria (see above). Second, create your game fuelled only by coffee. Finally, post your game in this thread, including:

* A working download link
* The title of your game
* A suitable in-game screenshot

At the end of the month, voting will begin, usually lasting for fourteen days and the winner chooses the next month's theme.

AGS Games in Production / Re: Tardigrades ©

The good thing to come out of this is that CBS can't do anything to stop you making Tardigrades because you have on paper a judge saying that the two works aren't similar. So I say just put this all behind you and focus on getting the game into our greedy hands :-)

The votes have been counted, check, recounted, verified, authenticated, confirmed, corroborated, reconfirmed and ratified. Then after an intense peer review they have finally been sent to the adjudication bureau for approval.

The winner is:
Mr Bear Teaches English By Cat and the team.

Well done guys. You will be messaged soon regarding your topic for October.

I've never heard of that 5-minute policy but it sounds great. I don't use eBay any more but when I did I got burned too many times by snipers and I couldn't play their game because I had slow as hell internet.

Yeah, go for it. My game Power Nap was made for the Adventure Jam using the MAGS theme.

Is it for scratching mosquito bites when you don't want to use your own dirty fingernails and risk infection?

Or is it for cementing to the outside of a brick wall to prank people into thinking someone is trapped in the wall?

Or is it for attaching to a robotic arm that repeatedly goes up and down playing one chord over and over again on a piano?
