You May or may not have noticed my absence here and in the previous game. I just found the last couple of games quite hard to keep on top of and keeping up with all the possibilities and permutations is really hard without more time to sit down and think things through undistracted.

That said, I'll give it another go. Sign me up.

Last chance to get your votes in.

Dammit. I haven't had time yet to play. 24 extra hours?

I'll be honest. I don't think it would have changed the result much. But still feel free to play and leave your feedback when you get a chance :-)

Well done to Fernewelten. An emphatic win. You'll be contacted soon about setting a topic for August.
Commiserations to VampWomb. A worthy runner-up.

I'll set up the nice tables in the next day when I can get to a computer.

Would you please? Because the download links are getting increasingly hard to find; by now there are around 20 postings beween the entry posts and the end of the discussion thread.

What a poor turn out  :-X
Two entries is better than one (or none), and is the minimum needed to actually call it a "contest". Would be nice to have a few more, but there are always quiet months and more active months.

If you hold down on the like button it has the six different emotions.

One of them is an ‘angry' one, although it's ambiguous as to whether you're meant to use it because you're angry with the content of the post or with the poster for saying it.

I always get excited when a game tells me to do that. That means it's probably going to scare the hell out of me (or at least try).

Interesting :)
But I have no animal character animation...

That's why God invented first person games ;-)

But seriously, there are plenty of ways around it. You can have a static character that just changes position or posture instead of animating. Make it like a comic book or visual novel.

I'm surprised that anyone makes full animations for MAGS games at all. They're so time-consuming.

Sounds interesting, I'm in!

The gauntlet has been thrown.
Anyone else in? Why not ask around and form a team?

It really is s pain to do this on my crappy phone so I'll set up the nice tables in the next day when I can get to a computer. Until then you can see the poll at the top of the page. Get voting!

Animal protagonist
Topic chosen by Blondbraid, Cat and Slasher.
Deadline July 31st.

Literally what it says in the title, the entry must have an animal as the player character, and two more criteria:
1. It has to be an animal that exists or have existed on Earth, no aliens or fantasy creatures.
2. It can't be an anthropomorphic animal wearing clothes or being part of a civilization, it has to have roughly the same lifestyle and abilities as a real animal. (Basically, a character like Lassie is OK, but a character like the ones from Zootopia isn't)

To reiterate: The idea is to challenge yourselves with making an entry based around an animals perspective and abilities, not furries living practically human lives.

What is MAGS?

Started in 2001, MAGS is a competition for amateur adventure game makers. The idea is to create a game in under a month, following the rules set by the previous winner. It aims to help you work to a deadline, improve your skills, and provide a kick-start into making adventure games. Regardless of skill, MAGS is for everyone. Voting is based on "favourite" games, and not the most artistic, or the best coded. If you have bad art skills, use it as a chance to do some graphic work. If you're sub-standard at coding, use it as a chance to give scripting a go. Ultimately, people will vote for the most enjoyable entry.

Rules

Entering MAGS is simple. First, conceptualise your game following the month's criteria (see above). Second, create your game fuelled only by coffee. Finally, post your game in this thread, including:

* A working download link
* The title of your game
* A suitable in-game screenshot

At the end of the month, voting will begin, usually lasting for fourteen days and the winner chooses the next month's theme.

Thanks for the entries folks. Good work.  I need a bit of time to set up the voting and stuff but I haven't forgotten :-)

This isn't for me but for a friend. She wants help identifying an adventure game. I'll just post her words here:

“I don't know if it'll get a hit because I've been able to find every other game but here it is: It was a demo so I didn't even get to know what else happens, but there was one girl creature and one boy creature, they were in their house when the lights are cut and they are attacked. You have to go around the house with a match to find the items you need to unlock them from a chest. Once you do that the demo ends. So not very helpful. I think the girl creature had a minnie mouse esque skirt. I call them creatures because they weren't human but I can't remember if they were fictional designs or based off of animals.”

Any ideas?

Just living here. There's lots to love about this country but movie release dates are a serious problem.
#1459
Us has only just got a release date in Japan (September 6th) so I've got a bit of a wait but it's been my most anticipated movie of 2019. Watching Get Out in the cinema was the only time I considered buying another ticket and watching it again there and then (I didn't actually do this only because I had to meet my wife).
