It bugs me so much that only people who enter as contestants are allowed to vote on the games.

Theme: "Little unknown traditions"
Theme provided by: LostTrainDude

Description:
Even though I don't think it's much unknown, these days, where I come from (Naples, Italy) there is a custom: when you order an espresso, you can decide to pay for an additional one so to leave it paid in advance for someone who may not be able to afford it. It's called "caffè sospeso" (translated as "pending coffee") and it basically is an anonymous act of kindness.

For this month's MAGS I'd love to see entries including some little-known traditions or customs from your birthplace, culture, religion, folklore or whatever else you think would be nice to share.
Your entry doesn't have to be built around it, but you can do it if you so wish!

We AGSers come from all over the world, and I thought it could be a nice way to share and explain little - maybe otherwise inexplicable - bits of culture!

If you can, point out - either here in the thread or in the game, if you find a clever way to do so - which tradition\custom you have included!

What is MAGS?

Started in 2001, MAGS is a competition for amateur adventure game makers. The idea is to create a game in under a month, following the rules set by the previous winner. It aims to help you work to a deadline, improve your skills, and provide a kick-start into making adventure games. Regardless of skill, MAGS is for everyone. Voting is based on "favourite" games, and not the most artistic, or the best coded. If you have bad art skills, use it as a chance to do some graphic work. If you're sub-standard at coding, use it as a chance to give scripting a go. Ultimately, people will vote for the most enjoyable entry.

Rules

Entering MAGS is simple. First, conceptualise your game following the month's criteria (see above). Second, create your game fuelled only by coffee. Finally, post your game in this thread, including:

* A working download link
* The title of your game
* A suitable in-game screenshot

At the end of the month, voting will begin, usually lasting for fourteen days and the winner chooses the next month's theme.

Time to find out what you've all been doing in there all month.

Two games. Please vote using the poll above.

@VW You don't have to feel bad about competing against a group. That said, why don't you try putting together your own formidable team for next month :-)

Rasen is the original sequel to the 1998 Ring but it was so bad that it has been disregarded. The better sequels are Ring 2 and Ring 0: Birthday. To me they are the canonical trilogy. And they're all good films.

They do go into her whole background and why she became the monster she did. But I don't think it ruins it like Hannibal Rising. And that information is all in the books anyway (although the book's story is slightly different from the films)

There was first a 1995 straight-to-TV Ring film. I've heard that was also pretty bad though I never saw it.

I try to close the contest as close to (but not before) midnight UK time (be that GMT or BST). Sometimes it's not easy for me to get to the computer at that time and basically if I haven't officially closed the contest you can still submit. But don't rely on me being late. Sometimes i'm Bang on time.

Yesterday I watched the new film in the Japanese Ring series, Sadako.

It was rather good, really. Nowhere near as bad as Sadako 3D anyway. There was of course a lot of dodgy acting and even dodgier visual effects but that's unavoidable with Japanese films these days. But it was directed by Hideo Nakata who directed the first core Ring (1998) movie and it's sequel. It wasn't super scary but there were some fun creepy moments and it did a good job of telling a new story while keeping Sadako as the main antagonist.

I happened to be poking my head in the Cinema to see what was on and Sadako was just about to start, so based on whether or not it was a good decision to go in and watch the movie, I'd give it a thumbs up. 👍

A guy on the Facebook group is trying to register but having problems. I thought I'd try to work out what's up but on the page for registering it just says the words “Hacking attempt”.

Is that a bug or really some kind of anti-hacking failsafe.

That's crazy you were that close. What was the security like getting in there?
It was my first time at the sumo so I have no reference for comparison but we all had to have our bags checked and go through metal detectors. There was a large police presence and a also lot of men (both Japanese and American) in sharp suits putting their hand up to their earpiece every so often. The vending machines were all out of action, too.

I had heard that they were even going to be doing background checks on the people sitting close to where Trump would be sitting. I don't know if that's true and it shouldn't have affected me anyway because I was sitting much further away. Nevertheless, I got a bit paranoid the other day and deleted some of my less friendly tweets to/about Trump.

<Deleted, holy hell why was there a thread this old bumped to the top? Sorry!>
It wasn't necessary to start a new thread just to show off that I had seen a man from 100 meters away.

Plus he's been in power a while now. It'd be a good chance to reflect on some of the stuff we were saying 3 years ago. Did the predictions come true? Did some of us over-react a little bit, or has it been even worse? Do we have any new predictions? And what's going on with that wall?

I'm still no fan of the guy but it's pretty surreal getting to see a US president with your own eyes.

Ahh that was actually a good riddle Kyriakos. I think one of us would have got it eventually.

I'm working on one but trying to make it not too easy.

Voting is over and we have a winner!

Congrats to LostTrainDude for his game, Travelers. Well done to you. You'll be contacted soon about coming up with an awesome theme for June.

Commiserations to the other three, and an honorable mention to Mandle who was actually leading the votes until like a day or so before voting closed.
