AGS alumnus Yahtzee (of Trilby and Zero Punctuation fame) was interviewed on Stuart Goldsmith's Comedian's Comedian Podcast. It's an hour+ long interview and a really cool insight into the man and how he works. He does mention AGS briefly, which was cool.

I've listened to every episode of this podcast anyway and he usually interviews stand-ups, clowns and sketch performers so this one is a bit of a different episode. If you like Yahtzee, or even if you don't, it's well worth a listen.

By the way, Ali. When are you gonna be on ComComPod? IIRC Stuart did mention your name on the show a number of episodes ago.

Thanks for the votes so far, folks. Keep them coming. It's still pretty close so it could go either way.

Seeing as this hasn't been locked yet, is anyone in contact with Click outside of the forums. He hasn't been online for over a week and I feel a little bad. It was only a silly little tiff. I've PM a few days ago to offer an apology but I guess he hasn't been online to see it.

Oh, hello. Is there something we should know, Slasher?

The comedian Richard Herring spends the whole of International Women's Day trolling everyone on Twitter asking “When's International Men's Day?” (which is a lot of people), and in the process manages to raise thousands of pounds for Refuge.

Here's his Twitter account:

Elon's opinions are pretty simple, but you can tell he's formed them after a lot of thought.

After a lot of acid, more like.

*bump*

5 days left! How is everyone doing?
I'm working on it. I'm paying the price for not playing many games throughout the year. Lots to catch up on. I might have to watch a few LPs to catch up but I should have covered most of the games come deadline day.

Time to vote.
Please use the poll above.

The voting is over and we have a runaway winner:

Hydrate by Retro Wolf!

Well done, sir. You'll be contacted soon about coming up with a topic for May.

Thanks a lot to all participants and voters.

Suspicious Mind

Topic: Glass of water
Suggested by: Cassiebsg and morganw

The theme for this month is "glass of water".
Specifically the game must display the text "glass of water" during a complete playthrough.
Use of any pre-existing assets is permitted.

Rules:

  • the case of the text may be modified
e.g. "GLASS OF WATER" or "Glass of water"

  • the text can be part of a longer phrase
    e.g. "I'd like a glass of water"

  • the game name must not reference a glass of water
(this is to help ensure that game names are not duplicated and that the text displaying requirement is not met by the title screen)

Deadline March 31st

competition.

What is MAGS?

Started in 2001, MAGS is a competition for amateur adventure game makers. The idea is to create a game in under a month, following the rules set by the previous winner. It aims to help you work to a deadline, improve your skills, and provide a kick-start into making adventure games. Regardless of skill, MAGS is for everyone. Voting is based on "favourite" games, and not the most artistic, or the best coded. If you have bad art skills, use it as a chance to do some graphic work. If you're sub-standard at coding, use it as a chance to give scripting a go. Ultimately, people will vote for the most enjoyable entry.

Rules

Entering MAGS is simple. First, conceptualise your game following the month's criteria (see above). Second, create your game fuelled only by coffee. Finally, post your game in this thread, including:

* A working download link
* The title of your game
* A suitable in-game screenshot

At the end of the month, voting will begin, usually lasting for fourteen days and the winner chooses the next month's theme.

Trigger warning: this month's topic is truly tasteless.

I haven't travelled enough to find out, but I am led to believe that water can indeed taste differently depending on where you are. "Tasteless" in relation to your mockery of "trigger warning" is indeed right, though.
oh come on man it was just a pun. You've done nothing but pick holes in my posts recently.

Just the two this month. Oh well, that still counts as a competition. Thanks to everyone who took part, even if you didn't manage to finish your entry. Look out for the voting poll very soon.

This is the old thread for MAGS March.
The thread has found a new home in a much friendlier location.
Please follow this link to find the new friendly MAGS March.

I'd appreciate it if this thread would be locked.

Okay, voting is officially closed and we have a winner.

Thanks again to everyone who took part in MAGS throughout 2018, whether that be making a game, playing the entries or voting on the games. Extra thanks goes out to those of you who took time out to rate and comment on the games' official AGS pages as well.

The winner of MAGGIES will be announced as part of the AGS Awards, so do look out for that.

A word on MAGS. Most people should know by now but some people are still finding out. The rule against using pre-made assets is now a thing of the past. You may use sprites, backgrounds, code and whatever else that you or others have made before. This was changed to encourage more people to make a MAGS. So don't let your perceived lack of skill in any particular area get in the way of your dream. Also, we're really trying to encourage teamwork. We've seen some great partnerships and team efforts in the past year and hope to see many more in 2019.

So please give it a go. And if you can't that's okay too but you can still help by playing the games, voting, or just joining the thread and giving encouragement to the participants. Every little helps.

Right. Now, go and vote for the AGS Awards while you still have time!

I have a problem with itch.io's "pay what you think it's worth" pricing model.
I don't see it as ‘pay what you think it's worth,' I see it as it's actually named, ‘pay what you want.'

That could include, how much you can afford, how much of a cheapskate you are, how much you think you're actually going to play it once it's in your library, how much time you have to play it, how much you want to support the dev, how much you feel like getting your credit card out of your wallet which you left upstairs and, yeah, how much you think it's worth. The author has chosen to offer it as PWYW and has done so knowing that the vast vast majority of people will pay zero.

A movie experience I did enjoy, that others might not, was back when the Scream movies were popular. During build up scenes that would have you on the edge of your seat a member of the staff dressed up in the Scream outfit would burst into the theater and run down the isle. People would literally jump out of their seats. lol.
Was this a special screening for fans where people might have expected such behaviour or did everyone think they were just going to a normal screening?
#1539
So, the voting period is over. Well done to the author of Mutiny at Mercury.

Here is a randomized list of the authors for those who want to spend a day or two matching them with their pitches:

Tgames
Snarky
tzachs
Mandle
Durq
TheFrighter
Blondbraid

Sorry for the double post.

One more day to vote. Does anyone want to start guessing whose is whose?
I'll release a list of participants tomorrow to narrow down the guesses.
