General Discussion / Re: WELCOME 2012!
Sun 01/01/2012 03:03:02
I'd actually just spent over an hour writing a really self-absorbed pitiful post about how rubbish 2011 was for me and how I resolve to stop feeling sorry for myself in 2012... but then I remembered it is 2012, so I'd have broken my own resolution by posting it.  So I wrote this instead:

I cannot fucking wait for uni to be finished this year.  I can find a job, start earning money again and start being more dedicated to the activities that I really want to call "hobbies".  I might not be among the most proactive members of AGS or the Adventure community at large, but I'm dying to give something back.

Happy New Year AGS.  You guys keep me sane.

TOMI was just a more cumbersome version of the Sam & Max 1-button interface that tried to make it a bit more like a 2-button one. Still, I appreciated having the ability to examine and combine items.

Yeah, I'm playing through Sam and Max Season 1 and am finding that I quite miss being able to combine inventory items.  I don't mind a 1-button interface as such.  It keeps things simple.  But on the other hand, most of us have 2 buttons on our mice... we might as well put them to good use.  My preferred system is Left-click to interact, right-click to look/examine.

I find myself more tolerant of verbcoins these days, but they can be riddled with problems if not done properly.

I like The Director from Gemini Rue.  I really enjoyed his character.

Oh, I won Tales of Monkey Island?
Cool!  I have already bought them digitally, but if that's a cased CD I'll still claim it.  I still like having cases for my games :-)

General Discussion / Re: **Merry Christmas**

My hangover was today after going up the pub last night.

Was violently sick this morning, which was bad because I'd left it until today to do all my Xmas shopping.  It was 2pm before I felt well enough to leave the house and then it took me a sachet of Resolve, a slice of choclate cake and an hour of people watching in town before I felt normal enough to actually do any shopping.

I'm gonna be on the cola for the rest of the festive season now.

Merry Xmas one and all!

Atelier's response may sound a bit rash [,but...]
I wouldn't describe writing a dystopian novel as a rash response.

That was more an attempt to balance Ali's "slightly hysterical response" comment.

Progz, He's made several public appearances since his stroke (which I thought was in 2008), and he's visited at least Russia and China in the past year.  Unless they're lying too.

I was also a tad disturbed by this Timeline feature... Atelier's response may sound a bit rash, but if Facebook had started out doing what it does today it would never have gotten away with it.  I felt Facebook was too nosy way back in 2007 when I first signed up to it.  But on a near monthly basis, they introduce new settings or features that subtley push the boundaries of decency and trust, to the point where the FB of 2007 seems like nothing.  In other words, we've become complacent.

I'm not ready to delete my account (they've got me, I'm hooked), but I can basically see where Atelier is coming from and am kind of envious in a sense.

Lego Technic?
That was basically Lego, but with rods, motors, belts etc.  I'm sure it's still going.

I think I'm right, so I'll go ahead with the next clue.

I'm just hoping the transition goes smoothly and that nobody does anything provocative or makes any rash decisions.  I guess the whole world is hoping the same thing.  Seriously hoping Jong-un turns out to be an awesome and peace-lovin' guy.

PS @m0ds:  I read that as "...less Tranny in the world..."  :-(
