Ahh okay so the Steamplay thing is just for the PC/MAc issue, and simply downloading the game onto two PCs wont be a problem?  That's what I wanted to hear.  Thanks LimpingFish :)

[update]
I couldn't resist it.  I bought all three seasons for £11.90.  Even if this laptop can't handle them I'll have them ready to play when I get a new pooter.  I love a good bargain, me.

Quick question.

I'm probably one of the few people left who has never used Steam.  But they're offering the three Sam and Max seasons for 66% off.  I only want Season 1 at the moment, and it's only £5.79 with this offer.

The difference between Season 1 and Seasons 2-3 is that Season 1 is not marked as "Steam Play", which I gather meand that you can buy once and down load as many times as you want, for the benefit of people who have PCs and Macs?  Is that right?

But Season 1 doesn't have this label.  Does this mean that if I buy the game now and my laptop rejects it I will have to rebuy the game if I ever wanted to download it again for a new computer?

That's why GOG is so awesome.  I've bought a couple of games on there that havent worked on my shitty laptop, but I don't mind waitng til I have a better computer before I paly them because I can just download it again, since I paid for it already.

Cheers.

P.S. Okay, maybe that wasn't such a quick question, but I'm sure the answers will be ;)

Haha, I also read it as 'board game'.  It's long been an intention of mine to develop one... I scrapped my design, Pregnant! after a friend put me off by reminding me that I am nearly 30 years old.  :-\

Don't let that bother you. Designing a game, doesn't matter if it's a computer or a board game, is quite a task and definitely not a "child's play" as your friend seems to think. I'm not quite sure what age has to do with anything we do. It's all in people's heads that you can do this or that until that age and after that you're only allowed to do this other thing. BS.

Thanks Eigen.  I may revive the idea in future, but I think I can do better actually.

Perhaps I should say something on topic:
I personally think we should encourage more people to share the code for their games.  It's a suggestion I've made a couple of times but while no-one has really disagreed with me, nothing has really come of it, either.

It's for purely selfish reasons that I say that though.  I personally haven't got to grips with AGS properly, despite following the basic tutorials, because that's just not how I learn.  But if I have access to other people's code, I love to sit there, work out what it's doing and try to get a greater understanding of how the script works beyond the basics. I think that method is more suited to how I learn, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I always assumed Convergence would be the last game (and thus the series a trilogy), simply because of its name.  It sounded to me like the stories of the first two games would converge, which they kind of did, but I guess I assumed there would be more finality to it.

Not that I'm complaining.  These games were awesome and I can't wait for Deception.  There's a lot more life left in our Joey yet... so to speak.

What is absurd is that they think this saturday is MORE likely than any other day, when the Bible clearly states no man can know when it will be.  They've chosen to believe this because of one old man's dodgy maths.  As a Lost fan, I'm used to people coming up with wild theories based on an arbitrary set of numbers, but I'm also well aware that Lost is FICTION!

[edit]
By 'they' I don't mean all Christians, but the select few morons who actually believe it's gonna happen.  If it does happen... then Thank God... the world will be better off without them (although they'll have turned out to be right and I'll look like the moron... d'oh :( )

Fucking idiots.  Seriously. Most people are joking about it, but it scares me that some people actually believe this shit.  It makes me ashamed to be part of the same race as these fucking morons.

He's got a bit of a Hoagie thing going on, I reckon.

Looks like a fun game.  All the best, Miglioshin :)

Thanks Khris. I managed to do it a different way.  I didn't realise that in the 'manage audio devices' window you can simply right-click in the empty space and check 'show disabled devices'.

Crisis averted :D
#5751
Oh man.  I need help.
So the other day I wanted to switch off my built-in microphone, and I did this by going to 'manage my audio devices' in Vista, and selected 'Don't use this device (disable)', assuming that I would be able to 'enable' it again at a later time.

I just went to do that because I wanted to play around in 'Midomi' after reading this very thread, and now it looks like there is no sign of my mic, at least not in the 'manage my audio devices' section nor the 'Realtek manager'.

Have I unwittingly uninstalled the mic?  because to me 'disable' and 'uninstall' are two very different things.

Any Idea how I can get it back?

Thanks :-)

This is a really interesting diagram of the Universe with a slidy bar that lets you zoom from right at the edge of the universe to right down to the quantum foam that supposedly makes up the fabric of space and time.

I'm at the same bit as Zenger and Matti.
Lovely game though.  The controls are a bit fiddly, but I'm enojoying this one... apart from being stuck  :(

[update]
I've had to quit....
Spoiler
My clock was down to 5 minutes, so I decided to keep running left while my clock ran down (did you know you can just keep running left?  You can't see your character but you can hear his footsteps.

Anyway, the clock ran down, and nothing happened... it just went into minus numbers.

General Discussion / Re: Voting time!
Fri 06/05/2011 20:50:57
This doesn't surprise me.  It goes back to what I said in my previous post.  "Is AV really the only other option?"  The fact that 'No' came out on top doesn't necessarily have to mean that the majority of British people don't recognise the need for a change in the current system, just that they don't think AV is the way forward.

We were only given two choices: yes or no for a system that is barely any better than the current system and apparently quite confusing for many people.  People have enough trouble getting off their arses to make one tick in a box, let alone asking them to choose their top three.  Aren't they suposed to be encouraging people to go to the polls, not put them off?  I think if we had been given a list of 3 or 4 possible alternatives (including proper PR) rather than just 1, then most of the 'No' voters would have voted for one of the other systems.  Though, I guess the question of how best to count those votes might have needed a separate referendum of its own  :-\

This referendum is just a show for them to say 'look how democratic we are, we're letting our people decide', but at the end of the day it's just another voting system, and there will always be people disappointed in the result of any election no matter what the system is.  The last general election proved that we do need a change to the current system, and on that basis I find myself in the 'yes' camp... but is AV really the only other option?

They will eventually release a video of his death and funeral, but they haven't finished filming it at their studios in Area 51 yet.
