Ahh that's a cool site Terran.  But actually I stil want to keep the audio of the original video, but just with the extra audio on top of it.

Basically, it's one of my favourite scenes from one of my favourite TV shows, and playing one of my favourite songs while I watched the scene I was amazed at house they slotted together perfectly... uncannily perfect.  So I want to make it into a single video, and show it off.  Haha, god I'm sad...

Okay, easy question, but I'm really ignorant in this department.
What's a good, free, video editing software, that will get me a youtube compatible video at the end of it.

I want to take two videos from youtube, and simply rip the audio from one and put it over the top of the other one.

That literally all I want to acheive, and the end result is going to be beautiful, because I've already acheived it by watching one video with the audio of the other video running in the background, and the result nearly brought me to tears.

Cheers.

Just got round to playing the demo, and it was seriously creepy. Can't wait for the full version.

Sometimes the animation is a bit slow, even though you can make him run by double clicking, this didn't always seem to work on every hotspot or exit.

I was intrigued by the magic button on the gate-post that turns night into day.  Will this be a feature in the game, or was that just an Easter-egg to show that you also have daytime artwork for that screen?

While the English isn't terrible, I do think you'd benefit from a quick proof-read, just for that bit of extra quality.

Shaping up to be a classic.  Keep it up :)

General Discussion / Fanfiction
Wed 07/07/2010 03:06:09
I've never been much of a reader or a writer of FanFiction, but I recently decided to write a story based on some of my ideas regarding Lost.  I feel that there are still a lot of stories to be told and questions to be answered.

Not only that, but it's a jolly good writing exercise and saves having to come up with my own set of mundane and stereotypical characters, so I can concentrate on the craft of actually writing scenes and forming a plot.

Have any of you guys tried your hand at Fanfiction?  Do you care to share it with us?

And do you read other people's work on sites like www.fanfiction.net ?

General Discussion / Re: What are you reading?

I feel the same... You walk into a library or a bookshop and, yeah you can dismiss half of them for being chick-lit or 'not your cup of tea', but that still leaves hundreds, if not thousands that ARE your cup of tea, with many more being published each week.  There's no chance in Hell of reading them all, even if you're a fussy reader.

Even my own bookshelf is full of books that I've bought but will probably never read now.

And yet, despite all this, it's apparently difficult to get published :-(

Nice story.  Someone once told me I had a sadness in my eyes.  I didn't really know how to respond to that, haha.

Skin - Mo Hayder (eBook)

How are you finding that?  I read her Tokyo and really liked it, and I started Ritual a little while ago, but never did get round to finishing it.

General Discussion / What are you reading?

Conversation's dried up a bit, so I hope you don't mind this contrived little attempt at getting a discussion going, but...

What's everyone reading at the moment?

I've got two books on the go at the moment.  The first is The Secret Agent by Conrad.  Right at th beginning of this, but so far so good.  And the second is The Little Friend by Donna Tartt.  The story hasn't really taken off yet, but I really loved her other book, The Secret History so I decided to give this one a go.

Has anyone read any of these books?  What did you think?

Also, how many of you usually have more than one book on the go at any one time?  The ony reason I have at the moment is because TLF is a dirty great hardback and I can't be arsed to carry it around with me when I go out, so I read TLF at home and the pocket-sized TSA when I'm out of the house.

Discuss.

In case anyone is interested, the first author in each team was given a list of starting sentences from a selection of famous novels.

These are those sentences

Hehe, Asashoryu is the Christ!
This guy is a nutcase.  He was forced to retire from Sumo earlier this year after a string of misdeeds culminating in the assault of a waiter.  Love it!

Right-o!
Thanks to everyone for humouring me and taking part in the Mystery Chain Story.
(and a special thanks to Vince.  Without his advice early on I probably would have made a right balls-up of this.)

All entries are in and Voting begins now, and will end this time next week.

Here are the Stories:
Chain Story A
Endings for Story A

Chain Story B
Endings for Story B

Story B is a bit short on endings due to a couple of last-minute drop-outs, but neverless, theres some really excellent stuff in here for your reading pleasure, so take your time and enjoy the stories.

There are Four categories to vote in:

*Best Mystery Chain Entry for story A -
*Best Ending for Story A -
*Best Mystery Chain Entry for story B -
*Best Ending for Story B -

For each category there is a bronze, silver and gold 'Chain-pen' trophy up for grabs, kindly supplied by the awesome Andail (thanks mate):

On top of all that, I'd also like to invite everyone to suggest titles for each story, just as a bit of fun.

Enjoy the stories :)

Right-o

Deadline is officially reached.  I'm not officially taking any new entries.
(although, unofficially, I'm going to bed now, and I'm busy in the morning, so if you happen to send me your entries before midday tomorrow (BST) I might turn a blind eye).

Voting will commence sometime tomorrow :-)
By the way, during the voting process, I'm also going to invite everyone to suggest titles for each of the stories, just as a bit of fun, so feel free to start thinking about that now.

Goodnight :-)

ddq, check your inbox.

To those people who are unable to come up with anything just now, no hard feelings :P
As Vince says, theres nothing to stop anyone from having a go at writing their own endings long after the game is officially over.  Infact I'd love it if people did.

Also, if anyone else wants to join in, let me know ASAP.  There's just 4 hours to go

How about this for an optical illusion then?  At first glance the borders of the wall panels appear not to meet behind the bookcase... something seems off, almost as if the back wall has been brought forward...

but... they actually do join, if you trace them carefully everything is hunky-dory... it's just that some trick of the eye makes it look wrong.

Just 24 of your Earth hours remaining

Quite a lot of people haven't sent me anything yet.  A week is plenty, but I'm a nice guy so I'll grant a 12 hour extention to anyone who requests one before I wake up in the morning and check my PMs and emails... :)

[Edit]
Well, I'm up and awake and no-one has requested an extension, so the deadlne stands.

15 and a half hours remaining

Slightly off-topic, but on a similar note.  A few years ago I used to write quite a lot, but I was rubbish.  I used to show my stuff to a select few friends and they would always say how great it was.  I got a bit suspicious, because although I'm a modest perseon, they were being FAR too nice.  So I tested one of them.  I wrote a deliberately rubbish peice of crap and showed it to my mate... he STILL told me it was good...  it was around that time I stopped showing my work to friends and tried to get as much neutral feedback as possible.

Yes some people on these boards are friends, and you don't want to let your friends be hurt in the long run.   If your friend had a BO problem, and he was really a friend, you'd tell him so as not to let him go on being 'the smelly one' and get picked on by others... Well I'd hope so anyway...
