BTW, I think that the longer you hold jump button, the longer jump is. Am I correct?

Indeed... also, the faster the game gets the more ground your jumps cover.

I'm just reading the story, because of this thread, and I'd never heard of the game before... So I'm mulling over the idea of making a game short based on my own interpretation of the story, and without any knowledge of the existing game... So it wouldn't be a remake, by any stretch of the imagination.

Site & Forum Reports / Re: New AGS Website
Wed 10/03/2010 15:34:47
I was thinking the new website should have a section devoted to modules (and plug-ins?).  Currently we have link to the AGSWiki page, whose entries are pretty sparse and lack any information or screenshots.  Or else there are links to the forum posts for each module, but they're all rather technical and you have to read through reams of ancient messages.

It would be nice if there was a nice section in the website that gives a list of each of the modules.  and a short summary of what each module actually does, in laymans terms (perhaps each entry could have a 'more' button which expands the box revealing some more technical information for those interested). And also a screenshot or two of the module in action.

It would also be a nice bonus if you could click on something to switch between an 'alphabetical' list and a 'most recent' list, or something like that.

Also handy would be an option to Add new modules to the list, so that the list doesn't have to me manually updated by one man.  Infact, to keep things tidy, it could just be exactly the same as the games section... this way, modules can be reviewed and commented on in the same way as the games.

Anyway, something worth thinking about perhaps?

- I'm a bit disapointed that James Cameron's AVATAR had only ONE Academy Award -- Best Special Effects -- But it was WELL deserved in my opinion.

Avatar won 3 Oscars:
Visual Effects, Cinematography and Art Direction.

I wish I'd had time to play more of the nominated games this year...

Same.  I'm going to go through over the next couple of weeks just playing all the winning games (the one's I haven't played yet), and maybe some of the runners up who caught my eye.

Playing Shifter's Box now... it's goood :)

I'm really hoping there'll be room for:

Albert
Ace Rimmer
Lister's socks
Rimmer's mother
Stasis pods

There's a distinct lack of Duane Dibbley in this list.

True, a girl doesn't automatically become attractive on her 16th birthday (or whatever the age of consent is in your area), but I think if you even slightly suspect a girl to be underage you should turn your eyes immediately... if only because it can get you into serious trouble otherwise.

I mean, age is just a number... but if a lass looks like an attractive young woman as opposed to a little girl, that's not a license to gawk.  She probably doesn't want you looking at her anyway... and her parents certainly don't... and all the while she is still young enough to be the responsibility of her parents, you should probably respect their wishes, lest you end up with the pitchfork-toting mobs chasing you around the country for the rest of your life.

Where is this even from?
No way is she anywhere near 18, and even if it turned out she was, it would still be wrong.

Here's a good Interactive Where's Wally. And when you've found Wally, there's also a Big Blue Cup if you can spot it  :D

I won't lie.  I found it funny.  She got her come-uppance.  Sure, it was extreme and cruel but that's exactly WHY it was funny.  There's no point getting all moralistic about it (as folks tend to do on these boards).  It's entertaiment.

Have you never seen those skating videos, where dudes slip, their legs falling either side of the railings and their bollocks crushed.   Ouch!... painful right.  I know every bloke here would empathise with said dudes, and most women too... it's never comfortable viewing to watch someone get hurt, especially there... but here's the point... it's still fucking funny!  I don't go "oh no, this guy did not to deserve to hurt himself so... I'm going to make a point of not laughing and then feel smug about how moral I am".  Instead, I just laugh because it's funny.

General Discussion / Re: Memory problems

No way would you be ridiculed, mate.  They'd probably send you to see someone to talk to... if it is stress they may sign you off work for a couple off weeks... you probably just need a good holiday.

I'm considering going to see someone myself for similar kinds of reasons... I'm having really bad motivation and concentration problems... most of my peers say they feel the same, but I don't think they quite understand .  It has genuinely affected my grades and I'm severely falling behind my classmates in Japanese.  It's not like I'm trying to be lazy... it's like some unknown force seems to be literally blocking me from concentrating, and the harder I try the less able I am to study...

I spoke to my tutor about it and she suggested I have a chat with one of the on-campus councellors.  She said maybe they could tease out what's wrong (if anything) and help to rectify the situation.  I immediately poo-poo'd the idea at first, but it's gotten so bad that I'm considering going for it.

So InC.  Let's make a deal... if you go and see someone about your memory, I'll go and see someone about my being a shite student. :)

Nice idea. am't wait to see what folks come up with.  Might even have a bash myself if I can find time.

I probably spent an hour straight trying to find the images...

That's where you're going wrong.  I can't speak for everyone, but for me, the trick is to not try... instead, look through the picture, as if you're focusing on the wall behind it or something.  Try it now, reading this text... relax your vision and let the text unfocus, so you can see two of everything... still be aware of the text and notice you can still kind of read it...  now do the same on the magic eye... be aware of if, but don't let your eyes focus on it.

Haha! Clever! How do you do that? Is there a special program?
It's inverted though :(

If it hasn't been suggested already, I would like to bring up VVVVVV: http://www.kongregate.com/games/TerryCavanagh/vvvvvv-demo

It's a nifty little game where you can walk on the floor and ceiling and jump back and forth. You have to dodge obstacles to move forward.

Wow, this is amazing! I'll be buying the full game.
I saw the IGF entry video for VVVVVV and thought it looked pretty cool, but to play it is something else.
