Hey.
I'm interested in playing some amature games (AGS or otherwise) based on or around the Monkey Island universe, but not necessarily remakes.  I have little interest in remakes but I would love to play other games that are set in the same world and expand my knowledge of the Tri-Island are and its history (even if it's unofficial).

Any suggestions?

Sounds interesting.
I'm looking forward to this one.

Yeh, things like the tomato patch can be ignored after a while.  They are little details that the regular reader can assume are in constant cycle.  I wouldn't expect you to keep changing the tomatoes every time for realisms sake as the town grows ands more things become a priority.

The only other option would be to draft in some willing buddies and give then maintenence jobs so you could get your pal Yuri to be in charge of keeping the flowers, plants and trees in cycle.

I think that might be taking it a little far though.  It's fine how it is, I was just a bit bewildered by the random...

Looking forward to tomorrow.:)

Hey, cool! Someone posted my comic. Thanks Kinoko.

Hello everyone. I'm the maker of Isotown.

Yeah, Isotown is a bit unrealistic, and I really have no idea how actual construction is done. None of those things are really important, I don't think. And besides, I want Isotown to be a bit quirky. The real idea is just a growing town. The project started as my own personal entertainment and practice, and after finding people liked it, I made it into a comic.

And yes there are always people who don't find the concept very interesting for very long (or at all). Thanks for stopping by anyway.

Thanks again for posting, and taking a look. Welcome to Isotown, new readers.

Nice to meet you.
I relly like what you've got going there, but one suggestion:
How about a storyline?  Maybe some female interest, a whodunnit murder mystery, or some strange goings on ala LOST.
You're good at creating intrigue (what with the 'lone pipe' episode) so how about taking it a step further?

I might swing by the isotown forums later and get acquainted.

I was walking along the main street, in the screen with the police car.
I clicked to "look" at the police car and the game crashed.

Yeh I realise that, but it could've been a bit more subtle.
Still I admire what he's doing there and I'm a new fan despite that incident.

I loved it.. it made me go and buy Teknolust... but that was a shit movie in the end.

I just read it from beginning to end and will certainly be keeping an eye on it...
...one thing that bothered me though was this...

Spoiler
What the hell was up with that random dinosaur incident?... after going through all the pages admiring the steady growth of the town and the special incidents were a great touch.  Then there's possible drama... a suicide bid... and a dinosaur come and rescues him???  What a cop-out.

What would be really good would be if he had some kind of murder mystery, or some Lost-style mysteries...

But not dinosaurs for crying out loud

I completely forgot to mention that Vib Ribbon is one of my favourte rhythm games. It's awesome. The best thing to come from the playstation.

You might like this video then.

Does anyone remember Vib Ribbon on PlayStation?

You could take the disc out and put an audio CD in and play the game to any of your favourite songs.  How did they manage to created a brand new self-generated level just based on the music coming off the CD?  Could a similar feature be created using AGS?

I just had to fill in a captcha just to send an email on Yahoo! mail.

That's taking it a bit too far,  surely... luckily I don't send an awful lot of emails...  if I did, though, this could become a nuisance.

Sure I know they're trying to cut down on spam, but I'd rather get a bit of junk mail in my inbox than have to keep doing that just to send an email to a friend.

Someone should just cheekily start a writing contest/activity without permission.
I would do it, but, errr, I left the cat in the washing machine...
Don't do this unless you're authorised to do so, we don't want people to start new activities whenever they come up with random new ideas.

Hehe... It's OK, I haven't got the balls to break the rules... my membership means a lot to me.

You sound like me... I have ideas but don't want to waste them with poor quality writing... best thing to do is practice as much as you can and keep your big project in your mind the whole time... one day you'll be ready to write it.  and good luck to you when you do.
#7719
It doesn't have to be as complicated as that.  Of course your gonna have to make it sync, and that's gonna be a trial and error process, that could take a lot of patience, but if and when it works it will be so rewarding.

5 notes is more than enough to make the game addictive and fun... hell, the guitar game on PSP only has 4 or 5 and that's brilliant.  You can make it more exciting by having the birds appear increasingly more frequently and songs getting faster and faster.

Even if you only had 5-6 songs, the addictiveness would come from trying to get a perfect score and then brag about it on the AGS boards.

And heres an idea.... Each song has a prize, an easter egg, for gaining 100% score.

song...... prize
1.............credits
2.............artwork and sketches
3.............a signed photo of Kinoko
4.............a date with kinoko
5.............kinoko's hand in marriage
6..............A preview of the sequel.

I love Philip Pullman and would love to be involved... if only I could write music... Damn.
Have you/will you get to meet Mr. P himself?  That would be awesome.

Good luck with the docco, and don't forget to mention AGS in the credits... ;)
