I could repeat what most people already said. I think this game is a classic in spite of its flaws.

However, I just wanted to say that I played this game on Linux using Wine 0.9.40. It worked flawlessly. It's the first AGS I came play to conclussion with Wine while being able to load and save games.

However, Wine still doesn't work very well for AGS games that use the standard AGS load/save dialog. For some reason it won't respond to keyboard input.

I'd like to offer myself up as a translator-cum-proofreader for anyone whose English is not so good.
When I say "translator" I mean translating bad English into good (I'm not bilingual yet, but I'm working on Japanese).
As well as simply correcting spelling and grammar I can enhance the dialogue to suit the atmosphere and draw the player into your world.

If anyone thinks they might need my help, please PM me or Email me at stu@toxicsock.co.uk

He looks great...

Slightly feminine walkcycle, though.  My sexuality was nearly called in to question when I saw that.

You've got some imagination, that's for sure.
This looks like it could turn out to be an AGS favourite.
Keep us well up to date.
Thanks.

Just played the demo of the first one (well, not much "playing" involved but as introductions go this one was up there).

It blew my mind.  Reading the letters sent a chill down my spine and a tear to my eye.  I'll definitely be purchasing both games as soon as I have some disposable income.

Cool effect. Who cares if it was just a quick filter effect, it works.
The sprite does look a little out of place, though, but this can be worked out I'm sure.

Woah, dude. Hurry up and make some games, man.
That background is almost flawless.

If I was going to pick nits I'd say the orange glow from the front window looks a bit like it's coming from the closed door.

I can't wait to see more from you.

Just finally completed it with one ending.  I'm going to have a bit of a rest before playing the other ending. I just wanted to say this is one of the best AGS games I've ever played.  It's better than some commercial games.  People are right when they say the dialogue is a little lacking, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the game at all.

Good choice of music. although an original score would have been nice.
The backgrounds are stunning, the puzzles are just the right level (I had to sneak a peak at the walkthrough a couple of times which is a sign that it's not too easy but not too hard otherwise I'dve been following the walkthrough all the way.

I might leave another comment when I've played the second ending, but I think I've said everything that needs saying.

And Sektor13, brother, don't quit making games.  I think theres even a bit more story left in the Infinity String saga, maybe you could make a sequel, or at least a v1.5.

Sound like it was a right laff.
I might try and make it next year if its OK with you guys.
Great pictures, and the Quotes had me in genuine stitches.

"Not another Monkey Island remake?"

"Someone Update the Game Showcase screenshots on the Front Page" (seriously, they've been there since waaay before I joined the boards. Can't they be randomized or something?)

I have a project called "A Windowcleaner's Apprentice".
I've made a few backgrounds and the story is basically complete.
However, some while ago it became apparent that I can't draw people. Especially sprites.

I was hoping to recruit someone to design a Sprite for my main character, Tom.
He's a laid back apprentice window cleaner in his early twenties.  Probably a bit of a stoner.

Here's what I had in mind.

I'd like him to look something like that, but if anyone has any better ideas feel free to change him up as much as you like.

My Games In Production thread was a bit premature and is locked at the moment, but here is the link so you can see a few of my backgrounds and read a bit about the game to get a feel of what the Protagonist would look like.

PM me or email me at stu@toxicsock.co.uk if you are interested.
If anyone wants to go ahead an make a full walkcycle They are more than welcome... infact I encourage it.

Of course, it goes without saying, the person whose Sprite I choose to use will probably be asked to design more characters and will be credited for their efforts.

umm what university are you going to? My primary school taught us binary (base 2) in grade 5. By high school we were doing binary arithmetic. And like said above, windows calculator can convert to binary and hexadecimal.

You learnt binary in Primary school?
I never learnt binary in all my years of education.  I did however play around with a BASIC binary converter on my Amstrad when I was about 10.

The scrolling jungle room tends to occassionaly move the player to the left of the river.  It does this sometimes when you look at the river, or if you're walking along, I can't pinpoint exactly when.

I've noticed this, too.
I've also found that on this room clicking things is harder and I often have to hold the button down for a few seconds for it to register that I've clicked.  It only seems to be on the scrolling screen.  It's a minor annoyance but it's as likely to be my computer's uselessness as any fault with the code.

For some reason I read "Cast announced" as "Cancelled".
I almost choked on my coffee... but luckily I wasn't drinking coffee so I'm OK.
Good luck with the latest project... I haven't played the first yet, one but when "unbound" is released I might buy them together.... or shall I wait until the third one is made and buy the trilogy box-set... hehe.

I think I've found a bug.
Either that or I'm being completely stupid.
I got stuck and was forced to read the walkthrough:

Spoiler
It said that I should use the Pulse reader on a metal thing when I exit the ship.  But I don't have the pulse reader.  The only thing that remined in my inventory was the Extension cord.. I think it was supposed to be the Pulse reader, but something weird happened.
[close]

[EDIT]
Shit, what a loser... forget that.  There is no bug.  I just decided top press UP in my inventory and realised that everything was there, Pulse reader and all.

I was going to delete this post but then I thought I'd leave it up for you all to have a good laugh at me.. hahaa

Critics' Lounge / Re: Coloring B&W background

What about making the black areas more grey so that the colours come through more clearly?  If the colours you use are quite dark anyway it should replace some of the intensity you want to keep.

I like the colours personally. But the path looks like its dropping off at the foreground... maybe widen it as it becomes closer.

Actually, Dre reminded me I was going to mention the same thing about the intro text being a tad too fast.  Maybe just add an extra 5-6 seconds per page of text.
