Song
Uninvited by American melodic-punk band Ruth Ruth from their album Laughing Gallery.

Comment
This is good American punk, but not like Bad Religion and Pennywise, it's more focused on melody and this track in particular show's just how good they were back in the day.

How I discovered it
Laughing Gallery was the first CD I ever called my own.  My cousin gave it to me as a birthday present about 12-13 years ago because I loved it so much, and the song I'm recommending today remained my favourite song for years.

Fun Fact
Ruth Ruth have had a tough time over the last 15 or so years.  Dropped by each of their record companies after one album, they have released records on American and Epitaph and others.  They split in 1999(ish) and all was quiet until they decided to start from scratch in frontman Chris Kennedy's garage and recorded Right About Now which they released themselved without a major company, but it was only availble on Itunes and CDBaby

To hear more of their stuff, they have a MySpace page:

Hucknall gets a lot of stick for being ginger, but he's a great lyricist.
I'm not a big fan of simply Red as a band, but their Album Blue is among my favourite albums.
If you're a fan of them Big Nerd, you should check out the Classic Album video/dvd for Blue.  It's extremely insightful.

Critics' Lounge / My Website
Wed 14/03/2007 20:29:56
I have made my website look and feel a little bit more like a webiste ( before it was just a page with some links on and a logo.
What do you guys think of its new look.
www.toxicsock.co.uk
Some pages are the same as I just used the home page as a template for the others and content is a little on the slim side.
But ignoring these things, what do you think of my style, logo and layout?

If people are paying for MySpace accounts on eBay have you thought about selling that account and using the money to buy a proper domain name...
I recently bought ToxicSock.co.uk and I'm made up with it even though its pretty bare at the moment.

I like this idea, Brad,  but it's more of a game than a competition.Ã,  Rather than being set a time limit to come up with something it's just a mere guessing game... but a fun one at that... maybe if you posted such a picture in the general fourm and then the first person to get it right can then make their own such picture, but make sure to keep them in the same thread, otherwise they might end up littering the forum.

I have an idea for a competition.  Everybody loves cut-scenes, but what about whole movies?.. or at least 10 minutes shorts.  How about using AGS to tell a story based on a loose theme given my the competition starter and winners thereafter, no gameplay allowed but gripping narrative and slick direction required.  I really like this, plase somebody else say it's a good plan!! :)

Thanks for the info guys, but (touch wood) I won't be needing it for the time being.
I tried turning the computer on today, and it worked.  I'm not sure why, but I suspect maybe theres a loose connection wire or soemthing that I've unwittingly jogged back into place... this probably means that the problem will happen again, but until then i'm back.

Hehe, nice analogy.
I could still use a few words of advice if anyone is willing to help.  There's a smiley in it for you.  Failing that I'll have to get someone out to do it for me and I won't have learned anything.
By all means PM me if this thread is getting boring.  Cheers.

Hahaha, I'm not stupid I'm just ignorant.  I won't touch anything unless I'm 100% sure what it is I'm touching.  Which is why I'm asking for guidance... I've got common sense, I just haven't learnt the ins and outs of how a computer works.

Well I've just opened her up and peered inside.  Nothing seemed to be loose or disconnected, but then, what do I know?

I'll try using the disk?... What one is it, the one with Windows XP on it?
What is the BIOS? I'd be eternally grateful if someone could give me some sort of step-by-step idiot's guide to what I need to do... Thanks guys.

To be fair though, I was a bit confused when I first came here... one rule said "make sure you search I the forums before starting a new thread", and another rule says "don't dig up old threads".  so in Wham's case, He honored the first rule by finding a link in a very old thread, but the link was dead... If he'd have started a new thread asking the same question he probably would have been told off for asking an old question.

Yeh It does say that.
Heres a complete transcript of what it says:

WAIT
Auto-detecting Pri-master... Press ESC to abort.

(if I leave it it says...)       ... IDE HARD DISC

Auto Detecting Sec-Master... ATAPI CDROM

SEC MAster 0016 Hitachi DVD-ROm GD-7000 (I guess thats just the make)

PRI MASTER HDD Error
Run SETUP
Press f1 to resume.

Searching for boot record from CDROM... Not found
Searching for boot record from Floppy... Not found
Searching for boot record from SCSI... Not found

Drive not ready
Insert Boot Diskette in A:
Press any key when ready

And thats it...
Any Ideas how I reconnect this IDE thingummy-bob, whatever that is? hehe

Can anyone help me?... I went to turn the computer on yesterday and it says it needs a boot disk?Ã,  Why would it say this, It's never needed it before (except maybe when I first ran it).

I don't know anything about hardware so any assistance would be great.

First It says "Auto-Detecting Pri-Master". What is this? and how might it be affecting my computer?
Then it beeps a couple of times and saysÃ,  press f1 to resume, so I do and it asks for a boot diskette.

Something similar happened before and I took the USB cable for my Digital Camera out of the socket and it worked fine, but now it still does it even when there is nothing in any of the USB ports.

Any ideas, however seemingly useless will be great, I'd hate to think I've lost everything I've been working on.

Cheers Guys.

PS Im on my mums computer incase you were wondering how I could type this without a computer ;)

Has anyone else picked up on the fact that Piet is wandering around in the pouring rain in London in just a shirt, when he has an UMBRELLA in his inventory... Hahaha.  Just thought I'd share that with everyone.

Here's my latest background I've been working on.Ã,  You'll notice there isn't a toilet in the cubicle, I have a very specific reason for that ;) so don't worry.

Any helpful comments will be gratefully received.

Nice BG MarkBilly, but very very Dark, I had to put a blanket over my head and the monitor to see it properly, Mind you it is mid morning and the curtains are open, I'll have another look tonight with the lights off.

But other than that, the only thing I'd have a look at is the top of the door on the right hand side.Ã,  I feel it should be a bit more level, at the moment it's kind of skewed and makes the door look funny.

[Edit]
I've done a rough version of what I think it should look like.

The green dot is where the vanishing point is according to the top and bottom edges of the right hand wall, so to make the top of the door frame seem level with them I drew another red line and from there you can work out where the top of the door should go.

This game looks really cute, in a 'Making Fiends' kind of way.Ã,  I'd offer to Beta test, but I've got my own problems at the moment, hehe. Sounds, like you've got enough interest now anyway.Ã,  Can't wait til the official release, I'll definatley play this one.

I had to look up 'Gesundheit' on wiki, mostly because I'm ignorant, but now the title makes so much sense, I like it.

Good luck with the release :)

Teknolust

I actually really like this film, but it IS blooody awful, so i suppose it fits the criteria being a good crap film.

It's basically about this genetic scientist woman (played by Tilda Swanton of Narnia fame), who creates 3 clones using her own DNA but to survive they need male semen so one of them goes out and acts real slutty shagging different men and then retrieve the semen from herself after the act and giving it to the other two clones and having a lovely feast.

The science is poor, the acting is worse and on my copy of the DVD, you can barely hear the dialogue, but...
The colours and the direction at times are inspired and I'd watch it again and again even though it's terrible.

Has anyone else seen this film and what did they think of it?

Combat Academy was awful, but for some reason I kept watching it so that I knew how NOT to make a movie.
It was supposedly made by the same people as Police Academy, but it's about 12 times shitter than any of them.
It starred a younger George Clooney and is basically about these two tits who get sent to a military academy and don't take it very seriously.  Hilarity, I'm afraid to say, does not ensue.

Going Overboard is Adam Sandler at his worst... He basically plays this guy who really wants to be a comedian but is shit, and spends the whole film  proving just that... that he's shit.  Chuck in some "terrorists" and a scene where his t-shirt keeps changing colour  between shots and you've one of the greatest crap films of all time.
