Thats odd.. I must admit I found the Save/load turnout a bit confusing at first, but once I got my head round it, i thought it was a nice change..  I can't think what might be going wrong in your case Zeb... have you checked that the game file is in the same folder as the Savegames?... Thats the nearest I can come to a reason?

Personally, I thought the Bus Jumping seqeunce was an excellent bonus and very well scripted. Infact it was a lot of fun... It's not VJs fault if people don't save their games regularly.

... woah...
I'm not joking, that first track nearly had me in tears... especially in the final third with that other instrument (don't know what it was).  Christ, if I ever need to make myslef cry I'll look that up again.

The second track was pretty neat too.

Yeh, I can't wait to see this guy in motion.

Thanks for your notes Esper.
This is nowhere near the finished article and I hadnt even begun to think about the floor, i am intending to put a rug in the middle.

The ceiling was an experiment I played with last night  trying to create an artex effect but obviously that hasn't worked.

What you see in the pic aboe is just  my first experiment since getting potoshop back and although the wallpaper and woodgrain need some fine tuning Im please with the general effect.

I'll take your comments into account for the next draft.

Critics' Lounge / Tom - My Main Character

My main character is Tom - "A Window Cleaner's Apprentice".

This isn't officially a sprite, it's just a sort of preliminary concept peice, but what does everyone think of him so far?

PS, please dont mention the fact that he has a pigs nose, i don't know how that happened.

What is the average size of an AGS game and all the gumph?... zipped and unzipped.
How many average games could you host for 100MBs?

Looks quite good. Did you use a vanishing point or did you just wing it?
I tried winging it for the first pic, but when I redid the stairs I used a VP in the centre of the picture and it looks much better..

[EDIT]
I've finally got my hands on Photoshop, and it hasn't taken long to come up with something cool.
Sorry to those of you who like the grey minimalist version, but I always intended to make it full colour.

This is still nowhere near finished but what do you make of it so far?

I used a real wallpaper design and a real woodgrain effect and layered it over the picture, and used Multiply blending mode to bring through the bold lines, and the shadows... I think it;s turned out very well.

I like the long coat.
I feel he should be looking down.  Rebels and loners don't make eye contact, so to make him more moody he should be looking away.

General Discussion / Re: Buying a Domain Name

I bought my Domain name.
www.toxicsock.co.uk
I used easily.co.uk in the end but I'm going to take EagerMind's advice and use a separate company for the hosting.
Any other hosting sites that have been missed that I ciould check out?

I went to a website once, trying to find some midis of Bad Religion songs, and managed to infect it with all sorts of sh*t... not so much porn, but some... the main problem was that our computer started dialling a premium number and my mum got whacekd with a honking great phone bill.... need less to say i got accused of  doenloading porn on the family computer, but i managed to prove it wasn't my fault.

He definately looks slimmer now.

I thought if he was a rebelling teen, then maybe he'd be wearing a band t-shirt, I had a go at putting a flaming skull on his.

oops I just realised I used the fatter image of him for my version, but you get what I'm talking about.

Yeh maybe It was Rez I was thinking of... I never did play it and it was around the sort of time I'm thinking of... towards the death of the Dreamcast.

I could never be able to programme a game with the sort of things we're talking about, I have barely started my first game, although I think someone should do something.
Biothlebop robot game and your amnesia quest are both great ideas. I reckon we should put a call out for a team and see if we can come up with some sort of plan.
I can't get too involved cos I'm going to Japan in April for a year, and much as I love AGS, I'd rather spend that time seeing it.

Bit of a dramatic change, but don't worry, the colour wont stay like that.Ã,  I've been playing about with the shadow of the bannister (was a bloody nightmare), and i redid the lamp, and tried playing about with the table a bit but it doesn't look much better.

What does anyone make of it so far?

[Edit]
I've just had another look at it after a few hours and realised I don't like what I've done.
I think for the time being I'm gonna go minimalist until I get photoshop, and can have a proper play about.
theres only so much you can do in paint and without the use of layers, youre constantly repainting things that youve drawn through.

I toyed with a similar (graphical adventure game) concept where a conscious robot that awakens to find its' systems malfunctioning.
The aim of the game would have been to firstly repair oneself, and then improve existing systems in order
to learn the reason why it awoke, to understand the world better or something like that.

The graphics could go through various phases as the robot improved it's perception of the environment.
Examples: black screen, static, detection of motion, still objects and distances, black and white, color, heat detection etc.

Especially it's current capability of abstraction and artificial intelligence would influence how the environment would be presented graphically in various ways.
Examples: learning to filter out uneccessary data, using symbols/ideas/fantasy and interlinking them with sensory perceptions
(the world or parts of it could look something like a fairy tale illustration momentarily or the robot could distinguish where objects end and begin).

This would be great. Ã, The best thing about it would that the more the robot can see and understand, the more you could do as a player. Ã, For example you might come to a door that needs a red key, but you can only currently see in black and white, but later in the game you will bre able to interpret colour and the red door will be open to you...

Thats a basic (and bad) example, but it shows how a system like this could be used to open the game up more naturally.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't an adventure game... It would have been about 5-10 years ago probably...(thats normally how far back my memory goes) so possiby it was on the playstation or maybe early ps2.
