I was reminded of the witch-hunts and witch trials (that included illegal and summary executions of people that have been labelled witches).
That kind of witch I meant in my question.

My attempt looks similar, but with footprints and analysis of those to catch him.

Did he scratch and leave skin flakes behind?
Has he lost some hair?
Became his broken fingernail found?
Did he bleed and left a trace that way?

Did an interpreter for reading of the lips found an essential point in identifying the robber?
Has the robber a wet pronunciation or a speech impediment (and so left some saliva or lost his dental prosthesis)?
Did he show his teeth to the camera (and was identified because of a missing, golden or decorated one)?

Was his voice recorded when he talked?
Did he have a visible tattoo?
Did he bite someone or something (that was used for to get an odontogram for dental identification)?
