Mods, space... is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindboggingly big it is...

That having been said, the chances of a meteorite hitting such a small, tiny object are pretty small. And if they did detect such an incoming object, I'm sure they could move well out of the way in time., or have some sort of countermeasures.

Well, I've never heard of U.S. doctors doing that, at any rate.

Mainstream doctors do NOT prescribe sugar pills. They use placebos in lab studies when testing medications and other similar procedures, as a control.

The thing with games that have automatic doors, is that they should probably support interacting with the doors. Perhaps handle it the same way as walking up to the doors.

Nacho, Advil has no healing value at all, it only masks symptoms (analgesic value). But that can be scientifically proven, thanks to the ibuprofen in the medicine.

I'm surprised the FDA allowed homeopathic remedies to be sold in the US.

I can vouch personally for the effects of marijuana second-hand smoke. I got high off of it a few years back with a friend.

Geocities was shut down by Yahoo. It would be sad if Geocities-hosted AGS files were just gone.

Use ShutUpload to upload files, guys. ;) I own and run it, and it's unlimited.

So far I've had a nasty cold, a really painful and bad ear infection, and a foreign object stuck under my eyelid, all in the past week. Bring on the H1N1, I think I'll be better off. :(

General Discussion / Re: Windows Installer

Well since it's not an AGS technical question, neither would've been good.

The most popular installer (which is free) seems to be Inno Setup, which has been around since 1997. I'm sure you'll recognize it from the screenshots.

Colin, you magnificent bastard, your platformer works like a charm and feels smooth... except for the multi-jumps. If you hold down "up" you can jump endlessly, which not many platformers actually do. This can be easily fixed, however.

Now I know why you asked about room width limitations. ;)

I'm sure there's more to it than that. For example, how AGS interprets the text file and handles the note inputs.

Most people nowadays have enough internet bandwidth to download the compressed game file, and enough hard drive space to uncompress and install it. So I wouldn't worry too much. Hell, I'm surprised that your final 1024x768 game will "only" be about 500-600 MB. ;D

His arms look like they're in front of him, instead of at his sides. And his legs don't look long enough. As for shading, there are shadows but no highlights, but that can sometimes be a personal choice.

Otherwise, I think he looks great.

Yes, this is a great workaround, and you're right about the file size. But this requires that I have all my animations done before I can even put a walk cycle in the game. I have two sets of idle animations, walking, talking, thinking, and a few other animations (like bending down to pick something up, etc.), and this feature would save a lot of work.

For the time being, I am putting every single frame of every single animation into Photoshop (one file, each frame will be its own layer), grouping the animations together, aligning each group so the feet all match, cropping the entire batch (to remove space), then saving each layer as a file (via Photoshop script).

Cursors can have a View setting. So if you add in an animation loop in a view in the AGS editor, which shows the cursor animating, you can set the Cursor to that view.
#258
That is awesome! You've got to release a tutorial or source code or something, showing how you did that.

Like Joseph, my girlfriend is a pediatric nurse, and we talked at great length about how H1N1 isn't the epidemic that the media is making it out to be. The symptoms are similar to the regular flu, aren't much stronger, and the death toll so far has been less than the number of people that die from the regular flu each year.

We have a theory: somebody, somewhere, saw that H1N1 is a child of the swine flu and other flu strains, so that person figured it must be a SUPER-strain of flu and much more deadly. All it takes is one media outlet to make it sound worse than it really is, and other media outlets pick up on that, strengthen the story, and report it. This continues to happen until people are scared out of their minds and start spreading rumors.

Case in point: my father said that he listened to the news and apparently only those with H1N1 could have the vaccines. Apparently he misunderstood a recent news report. Thing is, he would've told 10 other people, who would've made the story worse, tell 10 each of their friends, and so on.

We hear the "one in a thousand/million" stories on the news, for example the boy who was on the football team and was near death when he caught H1N1, but we tend to forget that these stories are the exception to the rule, not the other way around.

More people die per year from the regular flu than have died from H1N1 so far. The media is mostly responsible for this ridiculous hype. My girlfriend is a medical assistant at a pediatrician office and we were discussing the hyperbole surrounding H1N1 and how ridiculous it all is.
