Those backgrounds look phenomenal, buloght, great work.  I especially like what you've been able to achieve with the clouds with just a simple design.  I also like how Dagger has red hair, but I guess that's just a matter of personal taste.  ;)  Good luck, can't wait to see it finished.

A puppet with a crowbar?  Humanity is doomed!   ;)

Heh, good luck finishing this, it looks fantastic.  I especially like your detailed backgrounds, and I'm curious about the text parser.

Wow, my jaw dropped when I saw the background for Tinselwood (sp?).  Kudos and good luck with this project, but don't be in any hurry to release it.  It would definitely be worth waiting a year for this. :)

Heh, it's fine by me if it's the wrong forum, I always like hearing from people who enjoyed the game.  Thanks again!

Hey guys, all the entries here were highly amusing.

Krysis, I liked the simplicity of yours, and you're right, it would make a good avatar.

Fawfulhasfury: That is indeed a very well-crafted sprite.  It doesn't really fit within the theme, unfortunately, but hang on to it in case you ever make Mel Brooks Quest (TM).

fred:  I like your idea!  I'd certainly buy your series of child-frightening books.  I'd definitely count yours as an entry.

Afflict: Aw, maybe next time.  And you can still send me that sprite, if you ever get around to making it. :-,

buloght: Top-notch work, as usual.  Not only is it technically well done, but it's also most what I was looking for in the theme.  I declare you the winner!

P.S. You had an unfair advantage; you've had a lot of practice with pirate sprites ;)

Haha, that tapir is adorable!Ã,  I'll be sure to pass this along to all my adventure-loving friends once it's done.Ã,  Are you still looking for puzzle advice?Ã,  Just send me a PM and I'd be more than happy to help. :)

The subject of this Sprite Jam is Where's Waldo.Ã,  We all know that Waldo is a master of disguise...your task is to draw a sprite of him in his next unlikely situation.Ã,  Your sprite can be any character from the Waldo universe, including Odlaw, Wenda, Wizard Whitebeard, or Woof the dog.

Restrictions:

Max: 200 x 200
15 colours

Wikipedia tells me that this series is also known as "Where's Wally?",Ã,  "Ou est Charlie?", "Wo ist Walter?", etc. depending on which country you're in.

Well, go on, find him!

Yay!  Thanks zabnat, I'll come up with a new topic momentarily. :)

What Grayheart didn't realize is that no one's in the market for love nowadays.

...sorry if I murdered part of anyone's childhood here. ;)

Indeed there will, if everything goes according to plan.Ã,  I'm losing the "Spooks" title because the story stops being about a little goldfish.Ã,  The tentative name is "Skyward," and this time you're a little dead boy.

Spoiler
Don't worry, most of the game is going to be in the Land of the Living.Ã,  Hooray for colour! :P

Completed Game Announcements / Re: The Shivah

Fabulous game, I really enjoyed it.Ã,  I was able to solve some of the puzzles after thinking what I would do in real life, which is something that not many games have pulled off.Ã,  Rabbi Stone was a great player character as well, and his battle between choosing the right thing and giving up were played out very well throughout the game.Ã,  Allowing the player to make those choices was just a great idea.

I'll have to play this again some time to see the other endings.Ã,  "The Shivah" left me wishing I could give "Rabbinical responses" during conversations.Ã,  :)

Thanks for all the advice...I'll try to include the best of everything and have something to show for it by tomorrow.  ProgZ, your edit is spectacular...I didn't really notice that her legs were inconsistent in length, but that's something I can work on now.  I keep noticing more details, actually...the earring sway is something I didn't even think of. :)

And Theeph, I'm really liking what you did with the ribbon.  It looks a lot more flowy, which is what I was going for.

Yay, you finally finished this!  Now to hunt for the Spooks reference...;)

I'll add a real comment once I've played the game. :P

Aloha gang.Ã,  I've spent a good part of the afternoon working on this walkcycle, but there are a few things I can't seem to get right (the green ribbon, for starters).

Don't worry about the nitpicky stuff for now, I know there are a few odd pixels that need cleaning.Ã,  I haven't worked on the skirt much, either.

All advice welcome :)

Cheers,

Aww, I love the way his head wobbles side to side in the front view.  For a robot, it looks remarkably huggable.  I think that once you fix the opposite arm and leg thing, plus the little bob in the side view, it'll be ready for a game (if that's what it's for).

Hey, last minute entry, hope that's okay:

Sandbeard, the enchanted dwarf, and Steppy, the enchanted stepstool that he grudgingly uses to reach things.

Aha!

6 frames, deleted the 2 standing frames and the repeated first frame at the end.

She's starting to look like she's walking, although there are a few things that could be a bit more consistent.  The size of her belt buckle changes a lot, for example.  Also, too much of her jeans show overtop of her hands on the extremes.  I also think her head moves too much from side to side.  Think of a model on the runway...they look very determined (and scary), and the only head movement is up and down.

Otherwise, I think it's a perfectly functional animation.  I'd like to see some hair bounce, too, like it moves up when she's stepping down and down when she's stepping up (does that make sense?).

Good luck!

Very nice game!  It complements/explains the story of The Dark Crystal very well, and it was interesting to see how you included some of the Skekses from the movie.  Although the graphical style was simple, the details you included were very noticeable, namely the ornate outfits of the Skekses and the strange plants of the forest.

The music made me kind of nostalgic too...I watch it with my friends almost every time I go home.

I just thought I'd add that I played the game in French and found it really amusing...finally, my 9 years of study are paying off. :-,
