General Discussion / Re: Are YOU in a band?

Yeah, our band are in the begginer's stage too. It's hard to find gigs when you're just starting out though.

I think it looks great. It's got real atmosphere to it.

Apparently they locked the doors to prevent looting. Heh, what's worth more, people's lives or all their valuable merchendise.

Ooh, that's a tricky one...

General Discussion / Are YOU in a band?

A few people talk about being in bands around here. I was wondering how many people are or have been in a band? I play lead guitar in a Punk Rock band myself (http://www.subliminal-message.co.uk/), and wanted to see how many other people are into stuff like that.

I'm still stuck on the Archery bit. Anyone know how the hell this is meant to work?

I've just completed the remake, and I've got to say, nice work! It's obvious a lot of work has gone into this. It's a great example of what can be done with AGS, with a lot of time and ingenuity.

Sounds pretty good, I like the style. I suppose Diego won't be welcomed in the land, after being exiled, so I guess he'll be sneaking around alot. That should make for some good puzzles.

I do recommend changing the main character though, he doesn't fit in with the desert scenery, being King Graham and all.

All in all, looks great, I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the comments! And although Sir Frank might not sound very heroic, neither is our hero. He's just mildly heroic, and seems to end up it the right place at the right time. There's some comedy in the game too, so it isn' all just heads on sticks...

The trailer's up now, so please download and review.

Thanks.

Knight's Quest II - Legends of the Black Hand

A broken land, ravaged by war, desecrated by strife, burnt by the flames of his eternal hatred.

From his throne deep inside the imperial palace, under the watchful eye of his Satanic master, the Black Hand plots to crush the peaceful land of Althador.

Only one man can save the two countries from destruction, and bring down the twin powers of the Black and White Hands, before all is lost.

UPDATE : 24th February

I've put up a short trailer to advetise the game. It contains the introduction sequence and a short preview.

http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/KQ2_Trailer.zip

Please download and review!

You play Sir Frank, the greatest of all the king's knights, and it's up to him to save the land of Althador when goblin marauders invade.

He travels to the Republic of the Black Hand, to meet with the Black Hand himself, but soon finds he is an unwelcome guest. He joins up with a local group of revolutionaries, and soon finds out there is more to the Black Hand than meets the eye...

I decided to make the second installment in the series first, so there is no Knight's Quest I. I'm working hard at the game at the moment, and I'm about a fifth of the way through. I used a cross between the hero from QFG and Prince Alexander from KQ6 for the main character, but the other sprites are mine.

The game probabaly won't be out for at least a year, but I'd like to get some feedback on the story and the screenshots.

I might also put up a demo, if I can find hosting.

Please comment, even if it's to flame me, because we could use a good flame war.

No, I meant, if I tick the box in the editor but I want the option to become unselected at some point in the game, can I do this in the script?
#11
Is there any way to turn "Hide Player Character" off in a room, during the game?

Thanks.

General Discussion / Re:Insomnia ...
Sun 15/02/2004 21:48:42
Yeah, insomnia sucks. I get it quite bad sometimes, I usually stay up far passed midnight during the holidays. Night time isn't that bad, it's quieter, and there's no one around to bother you. The only real problems are when you NEED to go to sleep and when's there's nothing good on TV.

AGS Games in Production / Re:Lunchbox

How can people be rascist without ever having seen you?

Why would the FBI want to waste their time sorting out internet grudges?

How could anyone write a three hour movie script in a month?

So many unanswered questions! Enlighten us, Phil!

AGS Games in Production / Re:FINALLY!

Oh Phil, you really are funny.

This is, by far, the most amibitious fan game I've ever heard of. Reminds me of that Red Dwarf episode where they find out that their whole life has just been a video game where they make all the choices.

Unfortunately it seems a bit TOO ambitious. This is your first game, after all. Apologies for the way you've acted are accepted, but this is a bit over the top. The programming for a game with a 45 minute cutscene and a chance to make all the decisions would be very difficult, but the end result would be incredible.

I might even be willing to help on something like this, if there is a chance in hell it might ACTUALLY get finished. Which I'm sorry, I don't think it will be. Great idea though.

Nah, just leave the white in as a joke. and the l33tspe4k joke with the quit option seems okay too, just as long as it's not used through the whole game.
#17
I agree. Come up with an original idea and make an amazing game to wow us with. That's a much better idea than a Kenan and Kel game. Plus, this way you won't get sued.
#18
Ooh, you got him there.

I'm looking forward to Quest for Glory II VGA, and any other sierra remakes due out this year.
