Sportia! :D

Thanks to everyone who has said kind things. I seriously didn't expect this much of a response. It's really cool to see how much the "AGS community" is actually a community. :)

All right, I'm going to stop this before I start getting all mushy. ;)

Wow this has been a good week for me. Thanks for all the feedback errrybody. :)

@Ghost: nope, neither of those are the Easter eggs. I'll give you a hint though.

Spoiler
For one of them, you have to figure out what Hotbot is carrying in his little drawer thing.

Although I guess the 911 dialing could be counted among the Easter eggs as well...so make that 3 total. Maybe I should have added a number for the Ghostbusters...

@Ben304: thanks man! I appreciate the "Hooray." :) P.S. I've downloaded your OROW game...hopefully I'll have time to play through it (and the others) this weekend.

@Snake: Whoa, thanks!! I'm glad Nanobots was such a hit. :) BTW I've also got "Castle of Fire" downloaded, to be played whenever I find some spare time (any day now...).

Also: what a delightful bit of slang. ;)

@FrasierCrane: Cool! Glad the game was so engrossing. Heh, I know the "all you need is love" thing is a bit cheesy, but hey, so is everything else in that game. ;)

Thanks again everyone...I seriously wish I could throw a party for all of you. This has totally made my day.

Nacho, believe it or not it was an essay contest, not an art contest. I heard back from one of the organizers, and she said that, "You were definitely picked since the judges thought you'd put the education to good use."

I definitely don't plan to let them down. :-,

Thankyou thankyou thankyou everyone. :)

So a couple weeks ago I entered an online competition for "Aspiring Women Game Artists." I certainly did not expect this.

I was seriously walking around for half an hour with a huge grin on my face. I'm not sure what this means, but the universe is certainly giving me a lot of signs lately.

Or ex-boyfriends, if the game takes you too long to make. ;)

Well, I just got back from four days without the internet, and while the first day felt a bit like rehab, I finally got used to the pace and relaxation of the unconnected life. That being said, the first thing I did when I got home was check this thread, and I was happy to see so many of you liked the Nanobots. :)

First, piperhcombs, Buckethead, Kadji-san, Dave, Nikolas, nihilyst, Leon, TwinMoon, ProgZ, Grundislav, Fleshstalker, robvalue, GarageGothic, EdLoen, SmootH, Cino, Ghost, Zyargeikunn, & KhrisMUC, thanks so much for the kind words! This game suffered quite a few setbacks in the last year and a half (mostly due to my being in school), and it's this kind of feedback that makes all the work worth it. So thanks again for taking the time to play. :-,

@ piperhcombs, sorry the game is a bit on the challenging side. ;) I know the item-juggling can seem almost impossible at times, but as far as I know, there are no dead ends in the game. Also, regarding the clock, the numbers look different in the faraway view because it's tilted, thus necessitating the close-up view. Hope it wasn't too confusing! (Also, we'll get that incensium bug fixed soon...good catch!)

@ not with a bang, thanks for being my go-to hint man in my absence (and JBurger as well, in the hints thread).

@ Grundislav, remind me to bring my Fimo to Mittens and you may get your wish.

@ Fleshstalker, I expect a full report when you're finished. ;)

@ robvalue, wow, that's really unexpected and cool. I'm glad you enjoyed the game as much as you did. :)

Spoiler
And I couldn't really bear to leave them at the end either, which is why I made that mini-game.

@ GarageGothic, I'm glad the puzzles worked for you! I finished designing them so long ago that I kind of forgot they were that hard. I think this project has taught me the importance of giving the player clear objectives, so I'll definitely watch that in the future. Although, I do like to think part of the enjoyment in Nanobots is just the novelty of having six colourful little guys running around and swearing at each other. ;)

@ SmootH, thanks dude. :) No dead ends that I know of, although I'll have to look into those bugs you mentioned.

Spoiler
We might have to tweak those puzzles so that they obey the law of conservation of matter (or just make them consistent). The trouble with having such an open-ended puzzle (you can mix the three colours any way you like) is that it's hard to catch all the little things that can go wrong.

Glaring physics errors aside, I'm really glad you enjoyed the game! Thanks for coming back to AGS to say so. :)

@ Cino, wow, I'm impressed that you caught on to my (weird) logic so well. I thought the "two vials" thing might trip some people up, but I'm glad it kinda sorta makes sense. ;)

@ Ghost, D'awwww. I like your games too. :) I promise I'll get around to finishing "Once Upon a Crime" some time soon.

@ KhrisMUC, that seriously made me break out into a huge grin. I called my boyfriend over so I could read that line out loud to him. :)

...

So, anybody find the two Easter eggs yet? ;)

Completed Game Announcements / Nanobots

Internet, I am proud to introduce my second freeware adventure game, "Nanobots"!

Download it here! (rar)
Or here! (zip)

Design, art, and writing by Erin "The Ivy" Robinson
Scripting by Vince Twelve
Music by Chris "Scorposer" Moorson

The story:

Groovy Greg set out to make robots that could love. He created six nanobots: Hotbot, Brainbot, Tallbot, Audbot, Strongbot, and Chembot. Each was designed with one special ability, enabling them to work together as a team to overcome challenges. There was only one problem: the nanobots hated each other.

Now, with the evil Professor Killfun threatening to give him a failing grade, Groovy Greg has almost given up on his experiment. Little does he know that his beloved bots are about to meet an even bigger challenge than they had been programmed for...

"Nanobots" is a classic-style point and click adventure game that lets you control the six different robots as they race to save themselves from being turned into scrap metal. Can they make use of their surroundings, fashion an escape plan, and avoid coming face-to-fist with Professor Killfun? Only if they give peace a chance.

I'm so thrilled to finally be done with this, and that never would have happened without the countless hours that the team put in. Vince was a scripting powerhouse throughout the whole project, and did some things with AGS that I didn't know were possible. Chris kindly composed another catchy and original soundtrack, including a bunch of last-minute extra tracks for the moments of interest. And my beta testers, Adventuress, JBurger, voh, and Sheepisher, were patient enough to put up with at least four rounds of testing in order to find all the lurking bugs. Thanks everyone. :)

I'm eager to hear what you think of it. There's one catch though...I'm about to disappear from the grid for about four days (Canada Day :D). Also, Vince is going to be away for the next week or so. So please don't get upset if we don't respond to your posts right away. Come Tuesday, I'll be back to personally reply to everyone.

Hope you like it, lovelies!

P.S. If you get stuck, Audbot is pretty good at giving hints.

Belated congrats Dave! I wish you and Janet all the best. :)

Hey Darth, sounds good to me! I'll try to pack light. :-,

Hey everybody, just letting you know your patience is about to be rewarded. ;)

We're about to dive into our last round of beta testing, and Vince has informed me that we should be able to release the game by the end of the month. For your enjoyability, we added a tutorial at the beginning, a bunch of music and sound effects, and some bonus stuff at the end. Woo! Nanobots!

Cool, does that mean I have a spot in the Eric/Jess/Mills-mobile? I'm flying in around 8 that morning as well.
#113

Cooking isn't really necessary when most of the purchases are chips and beer...
#114
Nacho, I'll be arriving at Charles de Gaulle within a few hours of Eric and Jess. I'm not sure what the car situation is now, but do you think I might be able to get a ride as well?

Aw, I fell through on my promise to cuss like a sailor. Next time! ;)

In all seriousness, many thanks to Notwithabang for arranging the whole thing (and letting me pick the music). I never know what to say during interviews, but I'm really happy with how this one turned out. I highly recommend that everyone listen, if only to hear Notwithabang's soothing, Walken-esque way of asking questions.
#118
Funfact: I was sitting there next to notwithabang when he recorded this, and he insisted I look the other way. Apparently in order to do a "proper" Walken you need to be excessively creepy. The whole thing was improvised, so he must've been in a pretty good headspace. ;)

Also, it was fucking hilarious. You can probably hear my stifled laughter in the background.

I speak French. I still have some trouble understanding it, especially in Quebec, but I can read and write just fine. I'd probably call myself "fluent" if I wasn't so shy about speaking. Ah well, that's what red wine was invented for, right?

Awesome backgrounds and characters! And the story sounds pretty creative as well. Good luck with everything. :)
