I'm still not liking the floppy hands in the walkcycle, without them it'd be almost perfect.

I've heard people have cracked this already by using various household products to create fake print.

I found the quote from the newsgroup i saw it in:

"A Japanese cryptographer has demonstrated how fingerprint recognition
devices can be fooled using a combination of low cunning, cheap
kitchen supplies and a digital camera.

First Tsutomu Matsumoto used gelatine (as found in Gummi Bears and
other sweets) and a plastic mould to create a fake finger, which he
found fooled fingerprint detectors four times out of five.

Matsumoto tried these attacks against eleven commercially available
fingerprint biometric systems, and was able to reliably fool all of
them.

Noted cryptographer Bruce Schneier, the founder and CTO of Counterpane
Internet Security, described Matsumoto's work as more than impressive.

"The results are enough to scrap the systems completely, and to send
the various fingerprint biometric companies packing," said Schneier in
yesterday's edition of his Crypto-Gram newsletter, which first
publicised the issue."

ALSO....

Doubt cast on fingerprint security

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1991517.stm

"Fake fingers made out of common household ingredients can fool
security systems that use fingerprints to identify people.
Experts say the experiments cast serious doubt on any claims that this
type of biometric system can be made fully secure."

Just from looking at the perspective, I don't think the horizon would ever be visible. As it is now, in theory your character could walk on the sky. In this perspective your character should be able to walk up, down, left and right an unlimited distance without having to be scaled down (a bit like those Pokemon GB games and Zelda: a Link to the Past).

Also it looks like 3/4 of the building spills onto the sand because the fence is so close to the front, which makes it look like it doesn't have much depth and would never fit a truck in :P. I think you can get away with leaving it though.

It does look great though, particularly the truck!

And another note, you commented how bright your screen was? You DO relize that if you hold the Fn key down and hit down arrow a few times it dims the screen, right?

On my laptop the brightness thingies are F7 & F8, i only noticed about 5 mins ago :P. My \ key is to the left of the spacebar which is  pretty weird. I use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V a LOT though, and it becomes annoying, but i don't think i'll mess with any programs since i can't exactly buy a new keyboard and stick it in my laptop...

General Discussion / Keyboard key "switcher"?
Mon 31/05/2004 19:48:15
Is there such a program that lets you change your keyboard keys? Basically my laptop has this "Fn" key in the bottom left where Ctrl should be and I keep on pressing it by mistake. The Ctrl key has been nudged one position to the right and I sometimes hit the windows key when I attempt to press it. I need to make Fn = Ctrl.

Damn these laptop screens are bright, my eyes are dying just typing this!

RPG toolkit sucks. it's written in basic and it lags.

I used rm2k, rm2k3, ika and sphere for a bit, and I'm pretty happy. I recomend ika a lot, and sphere is good too, rm2k(3) is very easy to master and comes with a lot of the systems that you need, but it's limited. No matter what the dude says, you can code your own battle systems with it, I did.Ã,  Sphere and ika are way more difficult and come with less defaults, but they are way more flexible and you can download battle/menu systems for your game or easily make your own.

If you're so good at coding then why not just use AGS? You'd have a 10x better game IMO.

The place you seek is here!!

These guys make Zelda fan adventures all day long, ask them what program they use. I think people have released Zelda "modules" for the program to make certain zelda-style things easier.

I really, really hate all those tileset based RPG creator thingies :/. The only reason people use them is because they get the fighting section pre-coded already.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread except that my teacher says that you aren't supposed to use the word Brainstorm anymore, since it refers to epileptic fits. She keeps having to correct herself and call it a "Mind Map".

I don't get it... does this mean the music is less quality... or just louder. What's the big deal?
#92
The song above that has the funniest song title i've ever seen!

Haha, looks like Pearl Jam wins the longest song name so far, mwahahhaa.

I thought Jpegs normally came out clearer than this - you can't really see the shading on them. But can anyone offer C&C?

They do if you don't use mspaint to save them. About the sprites I think the second 2 are very, very cool. Jay's right hand looks a little awkward though, might wanna check that out.

All of those mp3s SHOULD be in the "Other" folder, but i never get round to putting them in...

That mario vid is funny, but old. I always thought it was made by the guy that runs http://maddox.xmission.com since he's got a link to it on his site, and all the links here link back to maddox :P http://www.monkeymofo.com/

Dude, this is like sooooooooooooo last year.

Still, great news though. Hopefully we'll get a little more details on it soon...

The shaded version kinda messes up your purty flowers since a section of the BG seems to have moved a few pixels to the right. Also the flower pot maybe looks a little bit flat (mainly in the in the shaded version).

Looks good though, pretty cozy!
