I recently discovered Ollivier Pourriol, a smart french philosopher that use popular movies and tv-series to explain the ideas of the main philosopher such as Spinoza, Leibniz, Cartesio and others.

Some of his videos (in french, sorry) can be found here:   http://www.cinephilo.fr/regarder/studio-philo-special-series

Sure the same operation could be done with videogames! But I'm not so deep in philosophy... :-[

I think that Friedrich Nietzsche' ideas ( the Übermensch, the eternal return, will to power) can be easily found in a lot of games, so let's skip him.

What videogames you would use to explain the philosophy of Zoroastro, L e F. Socini, Saint-Simon, Pirrone, Pelagio, Luis de Molina, Averroé, Fichte, Schelling or others you know?

Welcome to the  Coverbox Art Competition - September 2018!

The challenge is simple:
1) the host (me, in this case) pick a not-commercial very short game, MAGS or fanmade from the AGS database;
2) download and complete the game;
3) draw a cover art (with title and OS) inspired by the game;
optional 4) project the packaging of the box;
optional 5) add goodies (maps, manuals or whatelse).

Tips:
- as the pitch contest, a cover have to capture the attention of the audience... and convince that the game is worth to buy;
- use some plot elements;
- use your own style, don't copy the pixel of the game;
- have fun and drink responsibly.

And now the game I pick...
...
...is this:

Spoiler

Enjoy!

The entries ends October 15.

General Discussion / Good old game covers
Sun 20/05/2018 18:39:24

Sometimes I find on ebay someone that sell only the box of videogames between late 80's/early 90's, because have a cool art cover. (In some case the cover is the only good thing of the game)

Call it old-fashioned, but sometimes you can find some little jewels of art. Like this two:

Anyone like vintage game covers?

 Videogames often provide us many emotions. Comedy games make us laugh, action games give us excitement, horror games can be scary, and so on...

But how many games can move to tears? Yes, usually we players people are tough guys without weakness ((laugh)), but sometimes a game with a good story can break the ice on our heart...

I'm refferring to games as I have no mouth and I must scream (the charachter have to sacrifice to success), or Shadow of Colossus (when you realize what are you really doing when kill the giants it's hard to remain indifferent), or the chapters 1-2 of Syberia (some scenes are very poetic in their sadness).

And you?
Are you even moved to tears by any games?

Talking about remakes, what if someone "remade" an old movie as adventure videogame? Obviously I mean movie without copyright because expired.

It may be a sort of re-boot almost for old horror/sci-fi b-movies with very poor sfx that deserves a second chanche...

If anyone is interested here is the wiki page about movie in public domain:
