Okay, first off I know that there are other threads on this (IRC) but wanted a short and simple one to avoid confusion.  If you're new to #AGS or have no idea what IRC is or how to chat, see section XXIV-b.  Otherwise, skip to section CLVII, sub-section Alpha-Sierra-Sierra.

XXIV-b) IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat.  It's much like yahoo-chat or chatrooms on other sites except that it goes directly through various IRC-servers, bypassing all that web-tripe.  If you download a program to use chat (such as mIRC or pIRCh) or even use a web-based IRC-client, you just have to set the server to Random Quakenet Server (with a preference for your locale).  After you're connected to a quakenet server, enter #AGS in the rooms dialogue box.  If there is no dialogue box, use /join #AGS at the prompt.  Rules for chat appear after joining the room.

CLVII)
Alpha-Sierra-Sierra) mIRC has been updated to 6.1 with a bunch of new features and a lot of bug-fixes.  Go here to download: http://www.mirc.com

okay, I'm done here, return to your evil ways.

Critics' Lounge / Simple test - What is it?

 ???

It was an image for a friend of my kid's.  Showed it to the kid and that was the response I got, "What is THAT?"  Just wondering if anyone can tell.  ARgh.

General Discussion / Competitions ideas
Sun 25/05/2003 02:46:28
The competitions section lists game-making skills but the only comps related to that are the art and music comps.  I think the debate competition is a great idea, but is it actually relevant to AGS?  It'd be cool if we had a comp or two dedicated to solving a scripting problem or making the most creative script to do X.  It would probably also spawn a few nice game ideas.  Also on the game-making side, what about an SFX compo?  Many of us can't pretend to have any music skills but what about attempting to make the best sound effect for gunshots, shoes squeaking or an elephant choking on a duck?     Okay, these might be ridiculous ideas but merely suggestions after all.

Here is much debate.
Many words but little said.
A fix in haiku?

Pointless posts no thought,
reply with e-motes or small,
when will madness end?

Here is precision.
Syllables are seventeen,
or less if you want.

This message is long,
but thorough I must be here.
Only haiku here!

Who knows where this goes?
All of gen-gen in haiku?
Yakspit is a dope.
