I don't know if it's technically warez anyway.. I believe they made Doom Open-source (which is what prompted all the fan-made additions).  Even if it's not, doesn't the shareware .wad work as well?

You do realize that coronas often appear to a naked-eye, right guys?  Especially in high-fog/humidity conditions..   not the same as a lens-flare.

I guess I have to agree with the common consensus.  I've yet to see the movie (and based upon what I've read, I'll be waiting for DVD).  I've seen a lot of good movies that critics didn't like and a lot of bad movies they've loved.  I've seen some movies I enjoyed that you guys hated and vice versa.  However, I very rarely hear of a movie almost as universally despised as the 3rd chapter of The Matrix (and to a less extent, Reloaded).

Isn't it just as likely that this Cos person is one of many who've dropped by the forums briefly to plug one of the other game-scripting engines?  Offhand, I can think of at least 6 occasions when somebody dropped by and tried to proclaim the glory of another system.  Since Cos claims he won't be back, I don't see any sense in disputing his statements since virtually nobody in this community agrees with him.

Hmm.. ideas?  Here's one: If you join the marching band, we promise not to schedule any practices or performances during Star Trek conventions!

Squinky already killed my joke, but I'm from Finland, US, just north of San Francisco.

Yeah, I mess with it just about every time I come across a new mod for it.  Mostly I just keep it around and install on machines of friends and co-workers.  It's a healthy staple of entertainment goodness.

I like the colors and everything.   If I saw it in a game, I wouldn't point out a single thing lacking.  However, since this is the biggest-asshole-in-the-world-competition forum..  I think the background is actually distracting in that it's not prevalent enough.  Maybe some slightly more saturated colors (very slightly so it doesn't muck things up) might bring the background a bit more into the picture instead of making it look a bit cut-off from the foreground.  Other than that I love the pixel-job and the color-scheme.

I use GifAnimator 4.. I think it came free with some piece of software I got by Ulead.  I like it because I just load up all the images I wanna use as frames and then tweak it a bit.. it's quite simple.

I'm sure there are better programs out there..  I know there's also a couple freeware utils that simple splice together a bunch of .gifs or .jpgs into an animated .gif or .avi file..

I did this one w/ Gif Animator :

I had heard of the series but luckily didn't start reading it until the 4th book was out, so I got to do it all in one shot.  I'll definately be picking up the fifth one at the first place I find it.  Thanks for clueing us into this.

It looks like it got anti-aliased on a white background and then the BG was filled with brown (or it was pasted over a brown BG).  That's the only time I've seen outlines like that.

I don't think the brothers or makers have deluded themselves to that extent.  I think they know it's a hollywood fluff-piece.  It's the over-zealous fans that make me hate the movie a bit..  the ones who buy everything matrix-linked and talk about nothing but that.  The ones that actually believe in the Matrix philosophy really scare me.  I'm just saying that if you go to a movie not to have a good time but being prepared to criticize it, you can expect not to have a good time.  Anyone who can't enjoy a little brainless action and some CG is in for disappointment.

Maybe I'm not as bitter about the matrix-movies as some since I don't watch TV and thus see no advertisements about it (minus a banner-ad or two).

I thought I had forever to buy it..   Damn.  Buying my copy now.

I'll probably see it.. and I'll probably enjoy it.  However, I'll go to see it as just-another-movie.. just a fun way to kill a couple hours and munch some popcorn.  There are very few movies I've hated so much that I would spend any time ranting and raving about them afterwards.  As long as it isn't boring or irritating then I don't consider it a waste of time.

Of course, for all you people who only watch Independant films and think anything that costs over $10,000 is over-hollywood-ized: Do you think that's an original thought?  If you don't like hollywood movies, don't see 'em.  They're pretty much all the same, they're made for the average citizen and won't be immensely humorous, have outstanding realism, amazing action or a novel-worthy plot-line.  They can still be good for a few laughs.

Do the matrix movies live up to the hype? No, of course not.  Is it still better than seeing The Perfect Storm or Seabiscuit?  Damn straight.
