Well, in Rodekill's case at least, he's hoping to make lovers.

Concerning the thread.. it's not a bad idea.. maybe some rephrasing would've been good.  I think you've hit a sore spot since currently people are bashing the forums for being too unenlightening.  Anyone and everyone is welcome to make a website and devote all or part of it to AGS, the community or adventure games in general.  However, I can't promise that it'll be a hit.  Good luck, man.

It's because they're obviously his siblings/children.

Nice lettering but I thought it was Novo Maestro, Las.

I gotta agree with V a bit here, if you have AGS forum-dreams, you're here a bit too much. =]

My dreams are usually so monotonous or disturbing that they wouldn't be well-shared with the group.  I have a fair amount of hum-drum everyday life dreams that come true.  The rest of the time, it seems, I have evil disturbing abstract dreams.

I'd use mine.  It's fairly uncommon (I think 4 of us in the world) so I'd like the knowledge available that I had made the game and not some random entity.  I mean, YakSpit?  Who the hell would put that in credits?  Besides, YakSpit already exists. However, my name's the most common in the southern US (2 of 'em) and I figure most psycho stalker types are probably from there.   :)

General Discussion / Re:AGS Members database

It's a rather nice idea, but impractical.  These forums really aren't the place for events that carry that kind of gravity, IMO.  If stuff like this bothers you, I suggest writing or calling those AGS'ers whom you are concerned about.  Exchange mailing addys or phone numbers.  If something did happen to that person, I'm sure their family/roommates/whatever would write back to tell you what had happened (or tell you on the phone as the case may be).

If you wanted to implement a voluntary database, just leave it at generalities.. like location, occupation and current life events.

Well, I used to use the name of an evil country.  then, I switched a couple to Enigma.... stupid semi-wit.  Then, I used a latin name for a rainforest plant.  Now I'm using a personality term for me.  And no, it's not asshole.

The AGS Hero should be Goatman, as AGS stands for American Goat Society...

I especially like the link for AGS breeding standards.

I posted for a bit.. moved across the country..  came back.  So, off and on for 3 years.  Beware getting trapped in the forums, though.. it distracts you from the important things in life.. like actually working on a game.

But it's awesome.  Partially for the art but mostly for the joke.

a kindly fellow by the name of ErzatzYak gave me the important picture needed.

And that's the nicest thing anyone's said about me in years.  Okay for informational purposes, I find that Snag It does a nice job of image capturing.. even in full-screen DOS applications.  I tested it with ones that don't allow ALT-Tabbing as well and they worked wonderfully.  One suggestion, don't bother installing any extra crap it wants you to and it's only an eval version that lasts 30 days.  Thanks to Pesty for forcing me to find this fairly handy program.

And there's an important point.  Females are inherently evil.  It's their nature.  I mean, what better way to have a male prove his true and pure love for you, as well as trust, than to display an ex-boyfriend's pic for him to pointedly ignore for your benefit?  Quite the run-on sentence there but, really, just try and convince me that there are females out there who haven't done something along these lines.

Just try to remember that it's a give-and-take thing.  Jealousy is a wicked-evil thing that can eat at your intestines to the point where you've got internal bleeding and every time you take a ...  uhh..    nevermind.  Just remember that if you're jealous and she really cares about you (and only you in "that way") she'll probably be happy to comply in some ways to make your life a little easier.  You can't expect her to give up all her friends for you, but you can expect her not to rub your nose in her past constantly.  I know something about jealousy issues and having someone mess around behind you and am currently going through a situation that could only prompt people to say, "F#$@ing hell!"

Anyway, best of luck to you, I hope she wises up and realizes that if she believes what she has is worth keeping, she has to make a minor sacrifice or two.

This triumphant message marks the proudest day in my life.  I am overwhelmingly pleased to have been able to contribute to what, I think, is the greatest impact I have had on society and the world in general.  Thank you m0ds for this opportunity and I am delighted beyond further words.  Except, that is, to say I'm downloading it now and haven't actually listened to it yet.  However, I'm sure it's quite good.

If he actually opts to change his avatar, will you agree to have mittens 2004 in the US?

Well, mittens involves travelling to far-away lands that nobody in their right mind would go to voluntarily.  Hardly a good trade-off for a different user-note.

Of course, I'd go but I'm bitter due to lack of cash.  ;)

I dunno..  I think more rules and stuff might discourage newbies from joining the forums.  I know that we don't want a lot of crap posted here all the time, but must we be positively elitist?

Maybe if we just leave the questions.

As far as "rank" or whatnot, I think a moderator should be able to come up with a sufficient title for each.  Something denoting how helpful someone is, what their specialty is or even just off-the-wall stuff.

I don't know about the technicalities of placing a game on CD and having the bulk of it there.

However, spanning multiples shouldn't be too hard.  In essense, just make two separate games..  The first will end with Insert Disc  2 or To be Continued, insert next disc or whatever.  The second disc's game would simply intro with a transition to the second part.  Again, I can't see needing this feature as no AGS game has come close so far; unless you wanted to do an FMV game in AGS which it really isn't totally equipped for anyway.

Critics' Lounge / Re:Help me with my alien..

Excellent animation quality though and I wouldn't find it annoying in the least to play a game where the character walked like that. Just some C&C for what it's worth...

Maybe just a bit less shoulder movement.  As it is, it looks like his shoulders are nearly going 90 degrees from normal just by his walking.  Of course, this could be explained by the fact he's an alien.

It kind of looks like he's dancing.  Maybe there should be a bit more up/down movement of the torso as well.  Here's an experiment.  Cover up the bottom half of the image with your hand and see if it looks like he's walking.  You should be able to tell a walk or run even without the legs.

Okay.. it's not a background really.. I didn't draw it.. I photographed it but this is my contribution:

The End of the World, stage I

(I know, it's a crappy pic.. but what you're looking at is a giant inflatable glowing US flag which is in the yard of the house across the street from me)
