Somehow..  I wouldn't be remotely surprised if it's been done . . . with sequels.

General Discussion / Music & related Videos

Well, this subject comes about shortly after I heard Incubus's new single, "Megalomaniac."  I checked out the video on-line and it occurs to me: How often do new songs or videos actually try to have some sort of meaning or make a statement (whether or not you agree with 'em)?  The song/video in this example are about as subtle as throwing spotted-owls in a woodchipper.

Anyway, after most of the asinine crap I've heard on the radio and recalling the last few videos I watched (I'm a tad out of touch, I last watched MTV when the Tool-Sober vid was new) I stopped expecting anything dramatic.  This video's style reminded me of some of Trap's more demented animutations, which explains why I'm posting this topic here.

So, any thoughts? Seen/heard anything good recently? Anything controversial (goin' for a little less obvious than Manson here), anything that made you think?  Anything that pissed you off?  Bonus question: Non-US AGSers, what's the video/band-promotion scene like where you are?

Not personally offended by that comment but may overstep the bounds of good taste.  Mine may have as well but I get off the hook by having quoted someone else.   ;)

Fangs would definately help, make it a bit more comical as well.  I think if you've got some musculature resembling that of the first wolf contributions it might carry across as one better.  Maybe if you show that he's slightly bulging out of his shirt but with the same flat expression on his face.

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

More important question, WWJD for a Klondike bar?

I use Powerpoint for all that crap.  Measure label, make template in PP, print, go.  I've done DVD-covers, CD-labels, Cassette Labels and others.  Template programs are crap unless they've got a grand variety and decent customization capability.  The dimensions quoted earlier are correct, by the way, for a standard case.

Ah, why the hell not...

Stormy weather here in San Francisco (at least by California, US standards).  Arrived at work, spent about an hour putting fences back up.  Now relaxing for the next 10 hours of my shift.  I'll keep busy though, signed up for a correspondence art course.  It'll be paid for by the US Government.  You see, they've decided for the 8th year in a row that they accidentally took way too much money from me so they'll give it back now (sans interest, of course).

Planning on popping in and out of the forums quite a lot, as well as dropping by #AGS a time or two.  Then, I finish the last day of my work week and will be avoiding the PC as much as possible.

Just got a call from my sister.  She's been in Florida for 6 months and (surprise!) she hates it.  Got an e-mail from a fellow ex-marine friend.. he's been in Florida for almost 2 years and (surprise!) he hates it.  So, I'll take this time to offer my condolences to all AGS Floridians.  I know from experience the pain you go through daily.  You see, I lived in Florida and (surprise!) I hated it.  ;D

Can't offer any advice.  I've got the same prob on my work computer.  Exactly the same problem except with Win2k.  The only AGS game I've had work was some alphatest demo Scotch made.  If I figure anything out, I'll letcha know.

I'm confused. So, what happens if you shake him by his privates?

Ooo, ooo! He also ought to be a ninja.  I think you ought to call it a day, deal with the fact that it's only 97% perfect and do more chars/BG's so we can see this thing in action someday.  :P

Even, your wireless router won't cap anything off.  That is, unless it's unusually shitty.  A 10 Mbps wireless connection (standard low-end) is more than enough bandwidth for DSL or Cable.  It goes double when you're dealing with Roadrunner's crappy service (unless they've improved since I used 'em).

I'm not terribly fond of techno music but I had forgotten about the cowbell skit until I heard a re-mix of Walken's lines from it (with lots of bass-beats & scratches).  It was quite amusing until it wasn't.

We were blathering about this in #AGS.  Or something similar.  Does anyone remember Sierra's The Realm service (I think that's what it was called).  Each person creates or chooses an avatar character...  and interacts similarly to IRC.  Don't know if it's possible but it would be interesting.

Excellent stuff.  If you can whip out this quality quickly then the animations should be pretty impressive.  The only thing that bugs me are some of the colors.  The skin of the muscled guy is a bit too hi-saturation and tends to make his torso a rather bright blob at first glance.  As for the eyes, I think you're just not making them emotive enough.  Let them hide a bit under eyelids or look shiftily to the side and they'll be a lot more convincing.  It's also nice to see that you've got imagination so that the character types are very varied.

I vote for ROTLA but TOD did have its merits.  The minecart ride became almost cliche after that movie brought it into being.  I think that TOD got some negative points in my book due to that blonde actress, whatever the hell her name was.

The script above could be quite cool if made into a movie.  Imagine it done in claymation.

Avoid the death puzzles shouldn't exist.  You know, the type where you've got to move the character along narrow ledges or through a pitch-black labyrinth.  Other than that, I take what the author gives.  My favorite adventure games have been LEC/LA but I've played most of the Sierra ones as well.  Particularly in the SQ series, I got my money's worth in replay value as I attempted to find every grisley or unique death in the game.

Sudden decompression sucks! ... Ah, those were the days.

No sir, not until the infamous AGS v3.0 has Mr. PhilRoberts2004 planned Lenz Flaer.  One other feature I neglected (for 2.7) is that all the walk-behind paint-tools in Roomedit will use texture fills instead of solid colors.  It's about time!  Say goodbye to hideous cyan and swampy green for your walkbehind layouts.  Say hello to walkbehinds filled with stoic brickwork and lush foliage.

I think you guys are behaving like utter bastards.  WTF? I'm looking forward to the 2.7 release as well.  I'm practically soiling my sheets nightly as I dream about it.  Among the planned features are:

> Support for Direct-X 9 HAL 3D-acceleration
> FSAA & Ansiotropic filtering
> Completion of the Make My Gaem Option
> MAC OS Compliance

And much much more! Why shouldn't Phil be eager?
