Sounds quite a lot like the beginning of Shivers by Sierra.

"Judgement day is at hand!" ... "Are ye prepared?"  "Doom, doom *mutter*, *mutter* DOOM!"
"Have you prepared your soul for the second coming of AGS 2.6? Will you fall victim to temptations of the bugs?"

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream is decently creepy (if abstract).  Lighthouse has some good atmosphere.  When I tried the Shivers demo (before the game was released) I thought it a little creepy.  A couple years ago, I tried it again and I just can't get over the sillyness of some of the spooky-bits.  Gabriel Knight I qualifies as horror, I guess, but the bits that aren't go fairly slowly.  As said previously, there haven't been too many horror AGS games that were genuinely creepy or disturbing (Except for anything by Femme, but that's for other reasons).

It's quite good.  I like the colors & style.  It's got a nice organic feel to it.  I can't really critique anything except to second everything Darth said.  A double-check of sun location and a reassessment of colors.

As for the sun, if you've got the image in layers, it's pretty easy to fix.  Either way, I'd say make the gradient go from nearly white (Say, 240-240-200 RGB, for example) to a very light yellow (like 235-235-180).  Your image is fairly high on the overall realism scale so you might consider checking out a reference picture or two.  I'm only being this nitpicky because it's a damned good job.. and because I care.  Just ask anyone.  I'm very caring.  And kind.

I can see why that might be amusing, in a demented sort of way.  Unfortunately it doesn't work as well in English as Spanish.  Since in Spanish I assume the soup would be "de mamá" meaning "of/from mom" which can have a double-meaning.  Where as in English it'd be quite a stretch to convey that Mom's Soup is made of Mom.  We'd probably call it Mom Soup.  You see what a horrid nation this is?  We can't even *get* bad Spanish jokes.  ;)  Sorry for launching off on language-education, just found it interesting.

I should run Photoshop Phriday because I'm too lazy to enter a submission.  This proves my eligibility because 1) I share a character trait with DG and 2) I'll be able to participate in PP in some way.

Both shots are quite good.  At first glance, I thought they might've been modified screen-shots.  I think you've got a good grasp of the overall style of the first game.

For both backgrounds, I think they could use a touch more detail (making the cliffs a bit more smooth, maybe adding a little bit to the water, roughing up the cave floor a bit).  The ocean's color blends a little with the cliff-face but that might be remedied by adding wave-details, just something to break it up a bit.

For the character, I think he looks just a bit too rigid in the top idle pose.  His arms are hanging from his shoulders in such a way that it looks like he might've been hung from a hook.  A bend of the knees might give it less of an, "I'm doing a dramatic pose" look.  I'm exagerrating a bit, not to be insulting but to emphasize what I'm talking about.

Even if you did nothing else to these backgrounds and didn't change the character, I think that they would make game graphics to be proud of.  You could very easily leave 'em alone and move on to the next rooms.

... So, if you wanna talk of fat, talk to Nacho...  :)
You mean, "Chew the fat," so-to-speak?  ;)  Anyway, you bring up a good point.  The only overweight people that bother me are those that are insecure to the point where they assume that everybody is constantly judging them.  Of course, I feel that way about most breeds of the overly-defensive.

What about other parts of the world, Is Scandanavia part of Europe? Is the UK part of Europe? do people like to be called European or the country they live in? or do they really care? Is it Holland or The Netherlands (and why are they also Dutch)??
What about Brittain, and the Uk? people just call them that cause they don't know which counties they are.
Is Russia part of Europe or Asia? Do Indians call themselves Asian? Is the Middle East part of Asia?
So many rules to remember.  I can't speak for all USA inhabitants but I don't really care how you refer to my nationality.  Northwesterner, American, North American, US-er, Damnable arsehole, Californian, Central Californian, Bay Area Resident, Petaluman.  As general or specific as you like and none of 'em will cause me the slightest amount of offense.  Maybe I'm just a bit more forgiving, or perhaps a tad less patriotic.

Why is Africa left off the AGS map?
Because Chris Jones is a white supremacist.  AGS originally stood for African Genocide Society.  Or, it could be that we've got no African AGSers.

Do Dolphins consider themselves Mammals?
When asked (politely) a dolphin will acknowledge itself to be mammalian.  However, among dolphins this is commonly considered a "dirty" word.

Tiny silly spaniard... :P

I believe that the phrase you meant to use was, "Tiny-willied Spaniard." You might want to consider replacing the word, "Spaniard."  Not many United Statesmen will know what that means.  I suggest using, "Spic."

I agree and disagree with the above points.  Unless it's a medical (note that I said medical and not psychological) condition, a person has some say as to whether or not they're overweight.  If a person's body is more susceptible to weight-gain than the average person's, it still doesn't mean that they've got no choice in the matter.

However, hating somebody because of this I don't understand.  I can't see any logical reason to hate somebody because they're overweight, or even to tease them.  If a person's lazy, I know better than to ask them to help me move furniture.  If a person's generally an asshole, I won't introduce them to someone I give a shit about.  If a person's overweight, I don't have to be attracted to them but I fail to see any way that this affects me (other than various government expenditures to alleviate this common affliction - but let's face it, the government would just allocate that money to something pointless if not that).  Nobody forces me to be friends with fat people, to like fat people, to compliment fat people.  Some jobs may have exceptions but I don't even have to work with fat people.  I don't have any problem with 'em but am amazed at some of the shitty attitudes that surface.

Yeah, but you can't distract from the artwork by pointing at something and saying, "Look, a three-headed monkey!"  I found the first pic to be slightly headache-inducing because of the angle.  If you want something other than the straight & flat view of the correction, you could try a 3/4 downward view.  As to the general style, I would say, drop the thickness of your lines a bit and use that extra resolution for some extra detail.  If you do just a few little touches like giving the doorknob a doorknob shape instead of just a dark circle (maybe throw a keyhole on there too), then it'll add a lot of depth and interest to the pic.

Remove the BG for FARL... ok?

Well... happy birthday  :)
I got what you meant but it took me a second, too.  The phrase ya want is, "Replace the BG with FARL... ok?"  The other way is a tad confusing.

Since there are many types of modems out there, it can be difficult to pin-point exact problems.  However, your modem not properly disconnecting and pop-ups displaying might be symptoms of spyware.  If the modem's not disconnecting properly then it's probably either 1) spyware not allowing it to or 2) modem's not properly configured, buggy drivers, etc.  If you've got spyware stuff checking for a connection and contacting sites, your modem may just be waiting to disconnect until that activity ceases.  Chances are good that if you run something like AdAware or SpyBot Search & Destroy, that particular problem will go away.

As to the semi-creepy "Ring" thing . . . seven days.  Sorry, had to.  It could be a viral (or spyware) symptom but it's more likely that it's due to MS Office trying to be OLE-friendly and allowing input from the modem for possible software-fax use.  For instance, if you were using a telnet program (like Qmodem, Procomm, Hyperterm) and your phone rang while you were off-line, they would display the word "Ring."  It does this to give you a chance to accept the call in case it's a fax or data connection.  Having done away with my modem some time ago, I can't give specific advice.  However, a nice spyware & virus scan wouldn't hurt for either problem.  If the scans find nothing, I wouldn't worry about the 2nd problem except  for it being an annoyance.

I'm not a person who can claim a vast knowledge of music but hearing the same horrid popular tune over and over again can be irritating.  The fact that the song "Who let the dogs out?" was ever popular proves that the common person is ... well... (searching for a polite term here)... a fucking moron.

Basically, I like what I do for my own reasons but because I don't like most of what I hear on the radio, I realize that most people probably don't like my stuff.  So, I listen with headphones most of the time.  If I want ambient music while doing laundry or whatever, I keep the stereo at a level where I can hear all the instruments/vocals clearly but not loud enough that others are tortured by it.  I'm currently in a house with a bit of buffer-space around it.  I really can't imagine how you people in dorms and apartments can retain your sanity when connected to inconsiderate asses.

My apologies for hurting your brain.
Since you're still relatively new here, I'll give you fair warning.  When discussing matters of politics & philosophy, you are out of your depth when arguing with Las.  This is not an insult to you, personally, as I also would be hard-pressed to win an argument with our vicious little citrus-person.  By the way, a republic and federation can be one-and-the-same.  I chose federation because it was more specific.

I'm not sure where the conversation took a wrong turn, perhaps the method of introduction was wanting.  However, it has dissolved into a gooey puddle of viscous viciousness when it didn't need to.  The worst classification of drama this conversation should've had is that of debate.  It's nearly reached the level of a flame war.  I think rather civil and thought-provoking conversation ought to have been the result.

Rethinking upon the issue, I find that I do think of inhabitants of countries such as Brazil, Peru & Bolivia as South American.  However, if somebody says "American" I automatically assume they're referring to somebody from the US.  Perhaps it's because of the popularity of the term in literature, movies, etc.  For example, a citizen of the US would probably say something like, "You can't arrest me for murder, I'm an American(TM)!" while visiting France.  I think it's a pop-culture thing more than anything.  I might be terribly wrong here but I hardly hear a thing from our brethren to the south.  I hear a bit about/from Australians, Russians, Europeans and Canadians but seldom do I get any information or feedback from South Americans.  \

Ah, screw it.  The topic warrants me making a mental note but the arguments and attacks upon grammar (grammar, for god's sake!) are a bit silly.

Well, the game part is a bit redundant.  The engine could also be used for making Adventure movie-type things with no interaction (if someone really wanted to).  However, the Suite addition does add a touch of professionalism and class.  Therefore, henceforth AGS shall be known as Adventure Studio Suite.  I will be even more proud to be a member of A.S.S.

We've got the name, does that please you?  Aside from very few protests, it would seem the vast majority doesn't want it.  I'm not sure how you can defend the nomenclature of a country that isn't even sure what it's own nomenclature means.  We are the United States of America.  The average citizen will not be able to tell you what the purpose of naming it that was.  Each State was not meant to be a traditional province but rather a state (which means country).  So, we are the United countries of the continent of America.  Technically, you really ought to call yourself after your particular state and everyone from Canada to South America is an American.

Of course, you're siding with tradition and common speech so you win this one.  I'm not likely to be able to convince half my neighborhood that they're not Americans if people from Brazil aren't as well.  We strive to spread democracy throughout the world when we've actually got a federation.  Even if you ignore the fact that the dictionary's changed since the days of the classical definition of democracy, we haven't exactly lived up to even the common ideals of our credo.  I'm really not going on an American-bashing trip here but I think that we've got far too jingoism around, especially recently.  If you love your country (directed to US-ers of course) then be proud of it for what it is, not what it isn't.  Damn, have I digressed.
