Finished it. Loved it.

To be honest, I never thought any scene from a Barn Runner game would ever manage to surpass the naked bigwheel dream sequence, but I'm pretty sure the whole thing with the portrait for the cow is my new most favourite Barn Runner thing ever.

I actually quite liked the departure from the constant narration, I felt there was just enough of it in the game to satisfy my love of it, and then a nice variety of other jokes. When I say "Nice" I mean my gosh, did some of these make me laugh/cringe/go "ooohhhhhhh". Loved seeing Mailbot in action too, I had forgotten that he salutes all the time  :D

Oh yeah, and the ranch flavoured cigarettes puzzle is probably my favourite Barn Runner puzzle to date, loved that one!

Congrats, definitely looking forward to the next episode!

Edit: Three things I forgot:

For some reason I found the scene where Prick wakes up after you know what to make him seem more human than comedic. Maybe it's because we've all been in that situation and can relate to it, right guys? Guys?

:=

Also, I loved how you used the truck stop to cram in as many truck related pop culture references as humanly possible, particularly when I went out the back and straight away recognized the truck from my most favourite adventure game ever!

Finally, man this was a solid length game! You weren't kidding about it being the longest Barn Runner game ever. Definitely a good length adventure this time around :D

Hello!

I need a

So that I can give it to

The hermit, so that he can make me the sauce so that I can get the burger, so I can get the sunglasses, so the store can be restocked with liquor, so that I can do lord knows what with you know who  :=

I assume that the solution to this involves the

But I do not know what I need to combine with the

If indeed this is the right course of action at this time. Help a dudebro in the making out?  ;D

I bought Messiah last year and played through it. I did enjoy it, but: my standards are pretty relaxed and even easily pleased Ben304 could see the game's flaws. It is hard to learn to control, I spent ages at the first part going "this is rubbish how do I even play this?". It also doesn't do very much with it's concept - what could have been the basis of amazing puzzles was more using characters as keys than anything. Of course, I went in thinking it would be a bit like omikron and was very wrong. As I said, I did kinda enjoy playing through it, but I'm certain most people would get very frustrated with it.

Obviously the Fallout games and Jagged Alliance 2 :D. Redneck Rampage is fun, MDK is kinda quirky and I never really got into them but they are still kinda fun. Giants is pretty neato too, and everyone I know loves Kingpin (although I've never really played it ^___^). Evolva I own but haven't gotten around to playing yet :P. Messiah... is hard to recommend :P. The rest I know very little about haha.

Some other news from me: Dotemu are having a special on adventure games this weekend!

Congrats :)

I, too, would like to have seen the article expanded a little. It felt like it was lacking a strong summary of a point that you were trying to make. Why don't you spend some time discussing the reason behind examining the differences, what affect the arrival of the casual gamer has had/is having on the industry and the like? Or perhaps your considerations as an indie game designer with relation to each type, and how you either cater for a specific type of gamer or try to cover as broad a spectrum as possible in terms of designing an appealing, enjoyable game?

Still, it's a fine achievement!

I find depictions of people without genitals way creepier and much more lacking in taste. Just saying :P

(also it is indie games, make whatever the hell you want, basically  :=)

Yeah. Every review I've read of this game calls out that puzzle for being effectively unsolvable. It definitely wasn't just me! I left a question on the developer's blog a while ago about the puzzle and so have a few others... so far their response has been "Thanks for pointing it out though, we'll make sure we're better puzzle designers with the next one!" and not the actual logic behind the puzzle, so I'm still waiting to see what the logic was!

But I base all of my characters on Ponch, and he is Batman!
#1109
Yes, but now I have a reason:=

I have made a commitment to wearing pink bunny ears at all times while playing this game.

THAT'S HOW COMMITTED I AM!  :D

tzachs: Missed your feedback, but appreciate it! I agree that I went a little overboard in spots with the band things, and will focus a bit more on other stuff in the next episode :). Thanks for playing and commenting!

Ali: I agree, I recently went back and tried to improve my anatomy skills and the first thing I realized was how skinny I make people from side on! I've definitely changed this since learning that. There is a second episode most definitely in the works (awful well known song pun title included!) but I'm currently without my game making amigo kaputtnik, and so am focusing on other things until he can find the free time to work on AGS stuff again - at which point the SPIRIT of ROCK (or THE spirit OF rock) will most definitely be continued :)

Thanks for the comments!

Beautiful. I got a very strong Kricfalusi vibe from it as well, which is an awesome thing to see!

Another cool DotEmu deal:

Point and click games are 50% off this weekend.

There might be a special on one of those games you've been meaning to get for ages but haven't gotten around to it, so why not check it out?

I pretty much only use the absolute basic round brush in Photoshop. The very simplest one you can find :). For detail, it's just dropping size down to 1px and painting the detail in yourself. It doesn't take as long as you might think once you get used to it!

For blending I do use the next type of brush, the soft edged one, but that's really only when I want to blend things.

Your background is a decent start, I'd suggest filling the backdrop up a bit more with mountains and things at varying distances rather than with a single mountain, as it does look a little flat at the moment :)

Haha oh man, you should totally help me with sprites on the game :P

That's awesome! (and some of the backstory almost fits happily in the game)

Also, killer Jam topic! Excited to see what people come up with!

Congrats on making 10 years. That's a very impressive milestone.

Saw a game called Quasar on you site that I'd not heard of before. Has my interest piqued, hope it eventually gets released in some form :)

Foori Cooorrrriiii!! (it's about everything and mostly about the coming of AGE, plus great music.)

I tried to get Steve into this... I think he thought it was kinda weird (which is correct). I personally love it ^__^. Been meaning to check out Cowboy Bebop forever as well, but haven't gotten around to it.

I've also been meaning to grab myself copies of the Æon Flux box set. It was twisted and violent and sexy and creepy, a beautifully odd series, and used to be on MTV just like Downtown  :=

I recommend http://imgur.com/ for hosting images. It's quick, easy (you can even drag and drop!) and you don't even need an account. :)

Here's something I've been working on for quite a while, though the chances of it being completed by the 10th of July is about as likely as [insert something very unlikely]:

Apologies for the shoddy camerawork - operating two phones at once is a skill I've yet to master.

Knew you were working on this, didn't know it was for that platform! Looks awesome :D

Haha what the hell Snake that's awesome :D

I can't believe you fizzled out on this! Currently I suck, but man it's fun haha!

It'd be kinda nice to store the previous shots on the paper so we could get some idea of aiming... or am I just being a wuss?

Anyhow, back to shooting stick men  :=
