Thanks guys! There will be some background animation. The level of fanciness is yet to be seen  8)

Thanks for the lovely comments!

I haven't discussed the soundtrack with Sebi in much depth yet - I want to get most of the city built so he can get a better feel for it first. But, of course, I am quite positive that the soundtrack will be every bit as good as in the first game!

Yes, tis the standby signal on her shirt. I like choosing simple symbols for low-res characters, so that I can add detail to their shirt without needing a lot of space to do so!

Glad to hear the awful puns receiving the condemming they rightly deserve!

Also pleased to hear that people like the graphics! It's lovely of you to say :)

My first GiP thread ever woo  :D

Having no luck getting the local government to deal with the threat of the Airwave Radio station being demolished, local disc jockey Elodie Major makes up her mind to travel to Eda City to meet with the people responsible for the sale of the property to see if she can organize some form of arrangement, suspecting some foul play in the matter.

With the help of some friends - both new and old - Elodie must use her wits and resolve to get to the bottom of the matter and take on the threat before the station is lost.

Status: It's been a while since I worked on this due to computer troubles and a busy life in general, but I've got a new computer and possibly my weekends back to myself, so I hope to push forward and get the next chapter built. After much deliberation I've worked the chapter plot into a shape that I am finally satisfied with, and am currently focusing on puzzle design and some graphics here and there.

Release date: 2011 ;)

Haha Mike has an account on the ags forums! Whaddya know?

I am definitely going to get myself a copy (and not just because my name may be mentioned inside - I have basically *no* indie game related books, and it will be amazing to have one :D)

I agree with theo on the beauty of gits scenery, but have to say I find the backdrops in The Place Promised in Our Early Days and 5 Centimeters Per Second even better again. The colours are stunning!

No idea if you've seen them but Paranoia Agent and FLCL are pretty much, for their own reasons, the two most beautiful things in the world.

I've heard of Paranoia Agent, but haven't seen either. I'll look them out, thanks!=D

Oh man you don't know of FLCL? It's amazing!

Now, when is HD Grim Fandango coming out...?

+1

LucasArts have given the Monkey Island series a fair bit of attention lately, and they know that Grim Fandango is a classic. Time for them to give us a shinier version, perhaps? (or at least one that's easy to get working on modern computers  :'( )

This is totally possible! One way of doing it would be like this:

Have a seperate view that just contains the body sprite, and assign that to a character such as cBody. Have another seperate view assigned just to the head view. When you click the button, have the cBody character appear in the room at player.x and player.y, switch player's view to the head view, and run the animation. Depending on how you import your sprites, you may need to adjust the player's position as well.

The best way to make sure your sprites line up is to make the canvas for all of them quite large, with the sprites in the very centre. AGS centres player sprites, so no matter the width of your canvas, the sprite will always be in the middle for a character, making it easy!

Hopefully this makes sense :)

I can think of several, but this is the first that comes to mind: http://www.enviro-bear.com/. Also, AGS made and in on a technicality: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/games.php?action=detail&id=315

Hey Daniel!

My name is Ben Chandler and I'm that guy who is doing the character animations for Dave Gilbert's Blackwell Deception.

Nice to see you around these parts, do join in the conversations at least a little!  :D

Looking at those screens brings back some very fond memories of being a kid discovering adventure games. Top work so far!

Saluk: Thanks! It's easily one of my favourite projects to date, and the finished first chapter really makes me proud and hopeful of what we can end up turning the series into. Glad you enjoyed the game and the musical/DJ portion, hope you enjoy the next episode whenever we get around to building it :)

BlueAngel: Yeah, the drink puzzle seems to have had a few people stumped, and I was aware that the exit hotspots weren't as clear as they perhaps could have been (but did do my best to make them reasonably obvious. Thanks for the comment, glad you had fun!

SuperDre: Thanks! I look forward to furthering Elodie's (and a few other character's) story!

TomatosInTheHead: Well, it's nice to hear you understood the puzzles! I already had a game on the top of the list, this was my sneaky move to have one down the bottom as well  := Glad to hear you enjoyed the atmosphere, creating a strong sense of ambiance was a big priority for me in this game.

Acovel: Heh, I wondered how long it would take before somebody noticed my sneaky plan (yes, I am absolutely shameless)  ;D

It's still available for download if you want to try it.

I tried using it again a couple of years ago, hated it when compared with 3.xx.
