I read about this the other day. It will be interesting to see the end result - here's hoping for something really good.

Ah cool, thanks for pointing that out :)

A quick google search shows up the name "Jason Robert Brown" (I've never heard of him, but there are a lot of famous people I've never heard of).

Apparently his search for people sharing his music illegal returned roughly 4000 results.

Here is the story from his perspective, as found on his website.

On the contrary, I clearly remember reading about people pirating musical scores somewhere (it was an interesting article where the actual composer emailed the people putting up the illegal copies and asked them to remove them, and the back and forth communication he had with one of these individuals).

People will pirate anything.

Haha it's hard enough getting 2 of us together!

But who knows? It could happen  ;D

After months of discussions and saying "We should totally do an Australian Mittens" I have finally booked my plane tickets just several hours ago to fly to Melbourne on the 22nd of October and catch up with Xenogia in what will be possibly the first ever Australian AGS meetup of 2 people from other sides of the continent.

Yes, I know, it's 2 people - slightly less than the usual Mittens count - but come on people! Australian AGSers! Meeting up! It's going to actually happen :D

Amazing hourgames, both, but for sheer playability my vote goes to Bicilotti!

General Discussion / Dr. Langdell and The Edge
Fri 08/10/2010 08:05:39
Those of you who've been following Dr. Tim Langdell's (or as I like to think of him "The Enemy") infuriating activities may be interested to read the following:

It seems that maybe he's finally met his match. I am sure I'm not the only one that hopes this is the absolute last stunt Tim Langdell ever tries to pull.

I am pretty sure it is an engine thing :)

AGS will move your character forward by the number of pixels set in the character properties each frame, whereas I guess the guys at Lucasarts could make things work however they liked.

I think your walkcycle looks pretty good though, and probably looks quite fine in game :)

I think your art is very distinctive and beautiful, lovely stuff.

One thing that caught my eye - in the animal skeleton image, there are white pixels here and there than look a little out of place. Other than that, I think you've found a very lovely style.

Good work!

Amazing :D

Please excuse me while I make funky preparations for getting funky.

Oh, I wondered about the extra colours in certain places then realized you have uploaded jpegs! .png might be a better choice :)

Good to see you round as well, and sorry I didn't recognize you straight away  ;D

Nice palette!

I know it can be done, as Leafshade does this.

But I mainly posted in here to say that you put that song in my head  ;D

I love you Denis  :-* ;D

I hadn't played this until now, but am glad I did.

It's a nice little idea for getting puzzles into the single room, and charming music and graphics. Nice work  :D

Just would like to say that I really liked all the entries for this competition - they were all impressive and it was fantastic to see completely different settings and styles used in each one!

Great work everyone :)

I try to make a hotspot usable if I can do so in a way that adds to the game world.

Looking at every stone, blade of grass, shrub and cloud isn't going to tell the player any more about the game world than they can see with their eyes - unless the player character is a botanist or needs to solve puzzles with these things. If you can flesh out your world with a hotspot, make it interactable, if not, don't bother. How many per room depends on the content of each background, really!

Not to contradict Pinback and Khris by any means, but I am rubbish at drawing with pencil/pen/paintbrush and paper, but still am very fond of using my tablet - and I know people who really like drawing organically and yet cannot get used to using a tablet.

My biggest advice for anyone is to see if they can try out a friend's and give it a really good go to see if it is going to be the right thing for you.
