I liked the idea and style of this game, and enjoyed playing through it.

One thing that really hurt the experience for me was the spelling and grammar errors throughout the game. It could really benefit from some proofreading.

Anyway, good job making the game and trying out some interesting (if simple) gameplay ideas with the gesture system!

Hit minor road-block - abandon project!

This is the basic essence of indie game development  :=

Sorry for the late reply, I've been out of town for a few days!

With regards to making a picture more organic and less "photoshoppy", it really depends on how you work - what brushes you use, whether you use a mouse or a tablet (or trackpad), how you blend your colours, how you lighten and darken... that sort of thing. If you want to post an example with a specific question I might be able to help (you can of course PM me about it).

As for indoors scenes, I'm not shy about the fact that I don't really like doing them very much; but have been doing a lot more of them lately. The concept is basically the same - instead of starting with sky, start with a whole screen of your shadow colour, place your lightsources and shade with them, basically. Like anything, I've worked out a method of doing them through trying again and again to draw indoors scenes, picking up little bits as I go :).

Hope this helps - like I said, feel free to PM me if you want.

I don't think the pic gains anything from the extra red shade on the lips - I feel it might be nicer if you stuck to the skin palette here and shaped them a little more with shading:

I also tried to bring a bit more 'life' into the eyes and adjusted some other minor things. As for expression, depends on the sort of character she is and the situation she is in.

I agree - It's great to see this is still going along.

Oh, that would be because...

Spoiler
It's not a proper game...  ;D

Just rotating an image or a part of it can be done in virtually any image editing program, but the tricky part is to avoid it getting anti-aliased.
So especially for pixel art this is a bit of a hassle.

GraphicsGale does it nicely with pixel perfect-ness.

Nice thread!

To be honest, I was kinda disappointed you cut the yacht landing pad from the final game - I remember seeing it in an early build and it was a shot I was pretty fond of style wise.

Still, it makes sense when you explain why you took it out, so fair enough.

So, if you pick up the phone booth, will you die?

Oh wow, I'd never even heard of that before!

How hilarious to see I'm not the only one!  :D

My god man! I should have made the save function more... useful!
#1391
I wondered whether anybody would actually bother going through with it. Congratulations, Mr Spanos, you are a determined man!

The fact that some of you actually found some fun in this amuses me to no end!  ;D

Astro Galaxy Mega Quest VIIII: The Half Moon of Ray'don, Chapter 008.52 - Sci/Psy/Psi/SighBots of the Past (Historical Simulation Series) Editor's Choice Edition

This was built months ago but it never got released. So now I am releasing it.

Take control of the Master Chef and, with the help of his lovely sidekick, brave danger and certain death in order to make your way into a base on a planet far from your home! Left click interacts, right click looks.

This game was designed to recapture the feeling I got when playing classic Sierra adventures as a kid (and still get!). Characters graphics by AngelicCharon. Music by funkmast. Assistance in various ways including writing by kaputtnik. The rest by me.

Please note: You can die in this game, so make sure you save!

I've wanted to build a gamepad/keyboard game for a while but haven't and now if I do I could be able to use gamepads with it which would be rad.

What I'm saying is: thanks.

I know you're on the road again, but hopefully you will see this in:

The Future.

Happy birthday, Sebi, and three buckets of jellied shoe to go.

Al mismo tiempo en la galaxia sombrero!

I'm like 1/4 Greek but live in Australia.

But you already knew that.

Congrats on release man! Easily one of my favourite AGS games, awesome work.

Can't wait to see what you do for the next chapter!
#1397
I've been using it for a while in beta with no problems, but it is still good to see the version released. Congratulations, CJ, and thanks!

Fun!

I am up to level 11... but there seems to be slightly buggy movement with shift keys (maybe others but I didn't notice) and can't seem to get any further. Sometimes a shift key I think can't move will move - under another block - and sometimes one that I think will move will refuse to enter a square that is empty.

Also, level 9 was hard  8)

Nice work all round though!

C'mon Ben, you are the person in this thread with most finished games, give us some more information!  :D

(Btw, thanks for your AGS tips on your blog, I couldn't post there because the captcha didn't work)

Hehe well, I really do change it all the time!

Most of the time I have a really rough idea how I want things to work, sketch out a main character and a rough setting and then things happen from there. Whenever I have no ideas I go for a walk and when I come back have enough ideas to keep working on things. I've never made anything the same way as I made the game before it!

Glad you found the tips useful btw :)

I change the way I work on games each time I start a new one.

It's fun and educational to try new things.
