The closest thing I can think of that matches this description is this - although it ran on DOS as well...

Other than that, I can't think of anything.

They're turning kids into slaves, just to make cheaper sneakers.
But what's the real cost, cause the sneakers don't seem that much cheaper?
Why are we still paying so much for sneakers when they're being made by little slave kids?
What are your overheads?

Commercials. Usually 80% of the price.

Oh, and why shouldn't they turn kids into slaves when they turn adults into slaves?

I've been looking at that "Yes, technically I am" for a while going "Is that a reference?"

Hooray for clarity  :D

Also, I love dipping pieces of cake in milk before eating them, as one does with biscuits.

As far as I am aware, the best way of doing this is via a freeware utility called JoyToKey.

It's easy enough to find via Google - whether it is what you are looking for is another question.

I've been looking forward to hearing more about this, and it looks beautiful.

Congratulations on your work so far!

On an amusing side note, the term "Dumbing down" adventure games makes me think of this old article and how "smart" adventure games really are, ho ho ho  :=

^^^ I agree with pretty much all of GG's post.

QuoteIt's up to people like us to keep adventure gaming alive, not by changing the definition of the genre, but by sticking to what the genre is  and not pandering to outside forces.

Change is not something I shy away from because, like GG, I am not satisfied with the status quo. Not saying I or anybody else here can make 'better' adventure games than the well loved classics, but I do believe one should change whatever the heck they want to create something that more closely represents what they consider to be a fulfilling experience.

Oh and I played a casual adventure game a few weeks ago. It was pretty fun, y'know, and I stayed up to 3am playing through it - something that rarely happens for me with adventure games (last happened with Indigo Prophecy and Dreamfall which I am aware quite a few adventure veterans dislike). Sure I could see plenty of things that I would change, but the same is totally true for something like a Runaway game.

Ryan: Ben's house might be a little out of the way, as I'm pretty sure he's a Perthan.

Western Australian, but even more out of the way than Perth ;)

For me it depends entirely of the nature of the game. I don't mind timed trials in adventure style games because I'm likely to get more gameplay out of a 60 minute trial in an adventure game than one where I've been restricted to 2 rooms - simply because I rarely replay adventure games. 2 rooms might take me 5 minutes to play and only give me a tiny sample of the game, which makes it much harder to decide whether the game is for me or not.

For something like a shooter or an RPG, I'd prefer to be limited to a single area rather than 60 minutes playtime simply because I can easily spend more than 60 minutes trying out different things before such a game is for me. It often takes me longer to decide whether I like such a game compared to how long it takes me to decide whether I like an adventure style game.

Lately, however, I rarely play demos. I mostly read reviews and rely on recommendations from friends. I don't see "Purchase game/Try game" preloader screens as annoying or anything, I actually think they work pretty well.

You're not the only one who finds the original post highly offensive.  But it's a stupid hate post and such things aren't the sort of thing that I say "This is very offensive" about because I generally assume normal, balanced people will see them as ignorant bigotry automatically, and I am sure I'm not the only one that thinks this way.

Generally the mods around here are quite efficient at their job - we're used to this now and generally replies to such posts are a bit of fooling around before the thread inevitably gets locked!  :)
