Happy birthday to TheRedPress - haven't seen you around for awhile, but I'm sure you're still visiting sometimes.

Graphics Gale's brush right click changes the current colour to whatever the mouse cursor was over at the time - basically a colour picker hotkey substitute. It's quite an intuitive system.

Haha rad.

I've only had a quick play with it, but awesome work!

One feature I would personally find very useful would be a colour picker hotkey that switches back to whatever mode the cursor was on after the key is released. Photoshop and GIMP both have colour picker keys that only stay for as long as they are held down (I think it is alt and ctrl, respectively) and although your hotkeys are well placed, it's great having such a quick hotkey.

All my other suggestions kinda vanished when I came back here and read the documentation in this thread, so hooray!

Also I drew you a crummy picture ;)

I await the day when the MSPaint game is replaced by the AGSKetch game - obviously the quality of entries will skyrocket :D.

Do make sure they all have the appropriate .NET framework installed. If you can't install AGS, you may have troubles installing this?

Hee hee hee, congrats, Auriond :D

Amusingly enough I wrote a short game idea down in my notebook this morning that has a section with a(n?) ouija board!

I nominate Heed for the "Best interpretation of a Deftones song" award.

Just for the record, the few times I tried using this feature I had the same issue.

I think it looks rad, but also pretty unfinished. Some things you might try:

-Added rough grass to ground - looks kinda messy but with cleaning up could give you the texture you want.
-Added ground shadows and highlights from the moon to tree and barn.
-Tried to break up straight line in the background a bit. Unless it's a body of water, it's pretty unlikely that the stuff in the distance is gonna be perfectly flat like that, and straight lines aren't very interesting.

Nice work, and I hope you get a couple of ideas from this.

Looks rad :D.

A couple of things to keep in mind for lower resolution sprites:

-The less colours you use, the less time you are going to spend doing each frame of animation, and the 'cleaner' your sprite will look (to an extent, obviously a 1 colour sprite is going a bit far).
-When doing shading in low res you're not mixing colours like you do when painting, but try to keep in mind your lightsource's hue. For example, your concept art has warm highlights, but your sprite's highlights are the same hue as the shadows and midtones. Making your highlights warmer in hue and your shadows cooler in hue can help create a more interesting palette.

Here's a quick example that hopefully helps to demonstrate some of this

The left one is basically with a cleaned up palette (I didn't get all of the shades that I should have done, so the colour count is still a bit too high, but it should give a quick idea of how to simplify for animation), and the right one has the colours adjusted ever so slightly to show a shift in hue from your shadows to highlights.

Hope it helps, or at least provides some food for thought.

Ahh, good call Igor!

I already nominated it for a few awards, I kinda wish I'd remembered to nominate it for the best Tutorial and Documentation category!

In other news, there have been (unconfirmed) reports of possible life on Australia.

No word about whether they're intelligent or not.

I remain skeptical  :=

Congrats on the full page article, that's awesome!!

Such wisdom I've never encountered before.

But then I am very tired so everything actually makes sense to me for once.

Edit: I went to get some biscuits to eat after seeing this you influenced me with your discussion on them I think sirs.
