This game is totally cool.

I nearly got to the 4th level but messed up stupidly. So far my crappy high score is a pathetic 260  :=

Also, 'BADFART' hee hee hee

A book. And it had this large friendly letters inscripted on it.

Don't panic! :D

Glad you're back working on H2G2 Dual :)

Thanks Misj'! I'm actually thinking about putting hints in that last puzzle because so many people get stuck on it, but I am glad he is defeated!

And my personal opinion is, that DNA phones are pretty annoying.

So far you're only the second person to point out that you noticed this. I thought it'd be a funny little idea to see if anyone noticed it - yep, it was intentional - and only Sebastian had commented on it until now :)

Bahahaha! I'm working on something (of course) but it's totally unlikely that I'll be motivated enough to get it out before the year's end.

Thanks for playing, and it's great to hear you enjoyed the game!

If that's your problem, then just annoy people you know from AGS via PM with builds of your games in progress.

Works for me  ;)

If you simply can't finish the projects that you start, start smaller projects. Tiny projects, if you have to.

Then, using the momentum you gain off doing such a thing, start working your way up to slightly bigger projects.

Go out every now and then - with a lady or with friends. Yeah, it eats into your precious computer time, but A. you need a break from the darn magic computer box every now and then anyway and B. there's no point sitting in front of the computer box working on a game you're not gonna finish anyway.

If you really feel such an urge, and so strongly, act on it. Yes, it takes discipline to finish a game, especially if you're trying to do everything yourself - but nothing good comes without hard work and perseverance (okay, that's untrue, sometimes good stuff just happens, but you get my point).

And hey, if none of that works find someone motivated and dedicated to work with. That way you'll have greater incentive and ability to finish the game.

I hope everybody can see the obvius connection with taking drugs, brilliant mind, plays guitar etc. to dr. House and his companion dr. Watson Wilson  ;D

Yep, we discussed this in that aforementioned conversation as well.

Very strange, Peder's site is usually spot on.

I put up a horrible Mediafire mirror for ya, just in case :)

I refuse to consider video games a major industry until "celebrities" from the business (such as Tim Schafer) start using their influence to delve into politics  :=

I'd totally attend a political rally if Chris Avellone (or indeed Warren Spector) was a key speaker  8)

Amusingly enough, I was discussing Holmes with a friend who is relatively new to the character the other week and accidentally accused him of being a heroin user as opposed to cocaine myself (which I corrected later).

I'm quite the fan, enjoyed Arthur Conan Doyle's work very much, and I wouldn't mind seeing this.

QuoteI hate Mr. Holmes with a passion.
He's a stuck-up jerk who spends more time getting high and playing the violin than using that stupidly good intellect of his.
I've read four of the books, and except that he solves various cases, I really don't see why people like him so much.
He's an arse!

Possibly because he's one of the few heroes whose strengths and weaknesses are well matched? He's a rather bipolar character at times, and I like the way this is used in the stories.

Ilyich: Hooray for glowing eyes! I appreciate that pixel hunting is a big issue here, and I plan on keeping this point firmly in mind for future releases. Thanks for the nice comments, glad you enjoyed the game and I hope to bring you more games in the future!

Dual: Thanks Jim. Glad to hear you enjoyed, mate, and I agree that the puzzle with the bomb was pretty crappy. Consider my lesson learned!

JpSoft: And thanks to you! Short but good is pretty much always my aim, glad to hear I wasn't too far off the mark :)

Sebastian: .

Ilyich: Thank you sir! The Count's walkcycle was the first animation I did, and I had a lot of fun with it. Hooray for enjoyment despite frustration!

Ascovel: Ah, by that I actually meant David arranged !, Robot's voice in the actual credits song. I did write that rather badly! Hope it didn't ruin the game!

Chicky! (again): Hooray! I was going to make the final puzzle a boring normal dialogue but then I realized I'd set myself up for a rap battle, which I hadn't seen done before. Hooray for bustin' lines, dawg! :D

Lufia: Heh, yeah, it's all about paying attention I guess. The 6 panel layout was born from my frustration at the slow pace of some of my other games where the player spends tons of time walking and not much time solving puzzles. As for the limited palette, I pretty much tried to make it the ugliest, most 1970s wallpaper inspired style I could, mainly just for giggles. And I absolutely adore the soundtrack, I think it's the best Sebi has made for me yet  ;D

Thanks for commenting!

Ghost!: Hooray! I made hard puzzles for once :D. Glad to hear you enjoyed!

Also, I now regret not making !, Robot do the whole "THIS!! IS!!!!!! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!" and knocking the Count into a big pit. But hey, the pants falling down joke works as well.

Bici!:  :-*

Arjon!: YEAH!!!!! I intended ALL of those !s :D. Thanks for testing man!

Indie!: Ahahaha, at least I gave you a quick break between the two hard puzzles! Great to hear you enjoyed!

Chicky!: Hooray for 1970s wallpaper style palettes! Hope you enjoy.

Ivan!: Thanks for testing, comrade  :=. As for the pronunciation, I like to say "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH", "Shift one" or just punch the wall when I'm discussing the game. (Sadly I've yet to discuss the game :()

abibliophobe!: Awesome! I love it when people say that a game made them have a "bingo!" moment, so that's great to hear. Thanks for playing!

Leon!: Cool to hear you enjoyed, and thanks for the suggestions! I'll consider them whilst stroking my chin and sitting in my suggestion considering chair.

poc301!: And good to hear you enjoyed! I'd explain that last puzzle but I see you already got it from the other thread... and yeah, it was a bit tricky, but I stand by it. Thanks for the nice words!

Bulbapuck!: ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TheJBurger!: Heh, as soon as I'd made this thread and I came back I was trying to click on the topic and I was like "GET ON THERE, LITTLE MOUSE, C'MON!  >:(".  ;D

I agree that you kinda have to guess your way around the puzzles first, but kinda hoped that wouldn't be too much of a problem. Glad you mentioned the emotions puzzle, I was actually quite proud of it when I thought it up. As for the font covering up the faces, yeah, I noticed this too but sorta left it like that because I am lazy  := Thanks for playing!

GarageGothic!: Oh noes you've seen through my evil plan! I'm still trying to figure out how I can get away with making the prequel tilde  :=

David!: Hehe, I was reminded of the Shivah as well once I made that final puzzle :). Thanks for playing!

It reminded me of the Shivah!
Spoiler
It had the same technique.. but with another punctuation mark... ?!
[close]

Actually, wasn't the Shivah based on
Spoiler
the word "God" instead
[close]
?

Whatever the case, as soon as I designed the puzzle, I too went "Aww man, that's just like in The Shivah :(" but then I remembered I liked that puzzle heaps when I was playing the game so I decided to keep it anyway.

I actually mentioned that I was doing a rap battle for a game to Dave and he said "Anything like the religious battle in The Shivah?" and I replied with something like "It's shamelessly similar  :=".

And if we're drawing comparisons to other AGS games, the pants fally down bit is just like at the end of How Many, which I also realized after putting it into the game. At least it looks like I'm paying homage to two cool AGS games  8)

This is a hard one, I agree. Sadly, it's kinda hard to give you a hint without completely ruining it.

It should be fairly obvious but:

Spoiler
One of the lines will work each time, and the other two will not. There's no set order - it's worked out with randoms, so don't bother trying to look for a sequence. Instead, look at the three lines you have each time and see if you can spot something that one has that the other 2 do not.
[close]

Sadly, the next hint I have is going to pretty much be a complete spoiler:

Spoiler
Think about the game's title
[close]

Hope this helps.

Happy birthday Misj'! (is it grammatically incorrect to put an exclamation mark right after the apostrophe like that?)
#1659
Hehe

This is my favourite puzzle  :D

First of all

Spoiler
Everything you need to solve each puzzle with is contained in that puzzle's room - so you don't need to leave the park to solve the puzzle. Talk to the girl again and see what she tells you.
[close]

If you still don't get it:

Spoiler
Try talking to the other characters. One of them might provide some insight, though his clue will also be cryptic
[close]

If you're bored of working out my puzzles, and need a direct-ish answer:

Spoiler
Click on the various hotspots around the park. !, Robot will say something and the girl will reply. The key to the order of things is in her reply
[close]

If you just want the plain old answer straight out-ish

Spoiler
The last word of the girl's reply for each thing should tell you what you need to do in each order
[close]

And if you don't get it with that ;):

Spoiler
Click on the blanket, city, tree and then picnic basket in that order
[close]

Enjoy :D

I put my first crappy game up on these boards (Thankfully not in the database and nobody actually has a copy of it anymore  :=) and was glad that I did.

As long as you put some effort in, people will play your game and think you're a cool person :D
